Prominent Area Attorney Stan Margle Jailed Over Refusal to Provide Drug Testing Sample

Noted Easton area attorney Stanley Margle, as of this moment, is a resident of Northampton County jail. He was scheduled to provide a drug testing sample to the pre-trial office yesterday. He appeared but was unwilling to comply with his bail conditions, which require him to submit to periodic drug testing. He has refused to do so since October 7, 2025

Senior Judge William Mahon, a Chester County jurist brought in to hear Margle's case, is not playing. Late yesterday morning, he ordered Margle to provide a sample or be jailed

At a 2 pm bail hearing, Margle was sentenced to 30-60 days. I do not have that Order but his docket sheet shows that he has definitely been jailed.

Margle is still Wilson Borough Solicitor, at least as of its January reorganization meeting. At a hearing with NorCo Council in which he advocated for a tax break to convert the vacant Dixie Cup factory into luxury apartments, he actually argued with a Council member (Kevin Lott) who supported the TIF.

Margle currently is facing drug charges in two separate incidents at the courthouse. In both cases, he forgot a satchel that contained either cocaine or drug paraphernalia.

No disciplinary charges have yet been lodged against Margle by the Pa Disciplinary Board

  2. Jeffrey Bracken will still defend him because he’s one of the only people on earth with less integrity than Margle

    1. You can't get bailed out for violating bail conditions.

  6. I played baseball with Stan at NDHS in the 70s. He was very good and I never saw him cut the baselines.

  7. I am sure his admirer in the DA's Office is working feverishly to get him out. C'mon, you know nothing is going to happen with this. Baratta his still going approve him for ARD and the whole matter will be swept under the rug

    1. Initially, I believe Stanley met all the preconditions for ARD and would not favor treating him more harshly than others simply bc he is an attorney. But now, with two sets of charges and a violation of bail conditions related to drug testing, he likely is ineligible.

  8. Will Wilson Boro move their meetings to the prison to accommodate him??

  10. Pre-trial services: The 80's called. They want your mentality back.

Several years ago. I was a foster parent. I fostered a very troubled and aggressive youth who was literally abandoned at my doorstep by his full-time foster parents. I was supposed to foster him over the weekend, but his foster father called me on that Sunday and told me to keep him because he did not want the boy returned to his home. (Whole 'nother story). The foster agency begged us to keep him full-time, as they didn't have any other homes willing or appropriate to foster him.

While in our home, he was repeatedly suspended from school and eventually expelled and sent to an alternative school with other delinquents. He would go on rampages and purposefully smash our possessions (televisions, furniture, sentimental pictures and artwork of our children, etc...). He was arrested with a group of teenagers after sneaking out of the house and caught by the police at a drug and alcohol party in the woods at 3am. He was adjudicated delinquent and placed on Juvenile Probation. He only had to provide 1 urine test (privately) throughout his 6 months on probation and that was right before his Court Hearing.

He continued to use D/A all throughout his tenure on probation and continued to purposefully destroy our possessions. When I complained to the Probation Officer and her supervisor, they said, "Believe it or not, compared to other kids we're dealing with and their parents, you are doing an amazing job with him. This is not a case that we're going to put resources into because his charges are minor."

Meanwhile, one time when he was acting out, I took away his cell phone. He picked up the landline phone and called 911. He stated, "My dad is on drugs, he's a crackhead. I need help." The local police came, saw all the damage he did prior to calling 911 and evaluated me for being under the influence. I was completely sober and have never done an illegal drug in my life. I drink alcohol (beer) on weekends. Occasionally, I'll have a mixed drink. My wife barely drinks; perhaps 1 glass of wine per month, if that. The police wrote the report as parent/child conflicts and asked me if I wanted to press charges against the foster child for the damage he did. I said no because he was already on probation and they know his behavior. Moreover, I had the foster child in weekly therapy, enrolled in many school sports programs, participated in karate, and given music (guitar) lessons...all at my expense.

The next day, Northampton County Children and Youth were at my door. The already had a treatment plan. I was required to get a D/A evaluation and submit to a drug test immediately. I refused. I tried to explain what happened and that the caseworker should speak to his probation officer. The caseworker said that this course of action has already been authorized by her supervisor and the Agency Lead Attorney. I explained that I personally know the Agency attorney and she was probably doing this as retribution. The caseworker threatened to get a Court Order and removed my biological children if I refused the treatment plan.

Begrudgingly, I complied. When I went to submit my urine sample, I was stripped searched, then watched by the "professional" as I submitted my sample. I passed the test which tested me for every type of illicit and prescription medication. I completed the D/A evaluation and the evaluator recommended, "weekly D/A treatment for educational purposes for parental issues at the discretion of NCC&Y, but not necessary for D/A addiction." I threatened to contact a lawyer and left very long voice mail messages on Administrators' phones. No one responded back to me, but NCC&Y immediately closed the case.

Thank you Attorney Cammerenne, Supervisor Sara Packer, and Luftus-Vargari Foster care in Wilkes-Barre for allowing that foster family to abandon their foster child at our home and not revoking their foster care license, allowing them to continue to provide foster care. You guys rock!

  12. BOH @ 11:13am. My point is that these agencies have a wide berth of discretion. A hammer isn't always needed. Many times, listening skills are more important. I suggest that professionals in this field read Michael Lipsky's, "Street Level Bureaucracy: The Dilemmas of the Individual Public Servant."

Lipsky argues that front-line public service workers (police, social workers, probation officers, etc...) are crucial policy makers because their daily discretion shapes actual policy, despite facing resource shortages, ambiguous goals, high demand, work fatigue and high turnover rates. The focus of the book highlights the gap between policy intent and on-the-ground reality.

Aren't there more important issues than imprisoning a highly successful, advanced-aged attorney who enjoys blow? Trust me, when I was in Grad School completing my Practicum at a D/A treatment facility, my points-of-view weren't well taken, and I became persona non grata. This was over 25 years ago and many of my suggestions haven't changed much. Yet, conversely, I made several changes in the child welfare system that became permanent policy because of my pushing back against several, well-established protocols, established by old-school Stalwarts from the 1970's.

    2. 4:20: Let me guess. There's no cure for addiction. Alcoholic/Narcotic Anonymous is not a cult. Non-white people are destroying this Country. And, Treatment Trends only had one success story.

Does Stan have an addiction to coke? Yes. Should he be in prison? No. He should be in a hospital.

More tax dollars wasted on nonsense.

  17. It is a waste of talent to put this lawyer in jail. Sentence him to community service at Gracedale, to represent the residents and there families. The place is in serious trouble, and this administration (along with you) have a news blackout. Not good.

    1. 5:46, He is in violation of bail conditions. That's why he's there. He has not been sentenced for any underlying offense. You suggest that he be required to perform community service at Gracedale. Yeah, just what Gracedale needs, an active and known addict. Your idea would open the county up to all kinds of liability. Thankfully, your ignorance has yet to infect others.

  21. 7:16 I am wondering the same, and is he still in jail? And no he SHOULD be in jail for not meeting the conditions of his bail. Coke head or not, he knows the law. He had his chance to be in the hospital, no he can detox behind bars.

  22. I wonder how many lives this guy has ruined intentionally... I saw an attempt first hand and it was disgusting what this guy was willing to do and say to a dedicated father. Stan supplied drugs to his wife and tried to destroy my friends reputation and family life. He should stay behind bars for far more than 30-60 days.
