NorCo Controller's Budget Proposed to Shrink From $987,800 to $816,500 in 2026

Northampton County Controller Tara Zrinski's budget for 2026 is $816,500, which is 17% below her $987,800 budget this year. She explained that she has eight staffers, a part-time solicitor and one vacancy.

In response to a question posed by Council member Jeff Corpora, Zrinski conceded that she will be unable to fill that vacancy with the budget as proposed. She said she was told that the money for the vacant position might be available if "we need that staff member."

  1. "if" She doesn't know whether that position is needed or not? Hope her wisdom improves when she becomes the exec.

  2. I suspect eight staffers is a bit much. It sounds ridiculous. I wish they were better stewards of hard-earned tax dollars.

    1. sounds ridiculous ... wouldn't you need to work in that office to make a judgement?

  3. So we now know that all the costs associated with the conferences, union rallies, luncheons, workshops, and other events that are of no concern to the role of controller that she attended this year as part of her campaign for county executive cost the taxpayers $171,300.

    1. I’m surprised Bernie let this go up without a reply. Wouldn’t last years budget have gone through before Wild lost and then McClure going for a congressional run instead of a third term? So unless the two collectively saw into the future to budget that, no idea where you’re coming from with this. Besides the post explains the staffing change. You can keep making sarcastic “jokes” about Tara the candidate for a week or so then you’ll have to make them about Tara the Exec Elect! Enjoy my friend!

    2. You get the leadership you vote for. Tara is a democratic socialist who claims to be a moderate now. She has no leadership ability whatsoever, but she does look good yelling anti police slogans into a microphone. She probably will win and the taxpayers will suffer for it, hope that makes you happy.
