He explains that he's running because "Harrisburg is filled with politicians who are extremely out of touch with what working folks, families, seniors, and children actually need and want." But what is he if not a politician? His undergrad degree from Penn State? Political science. He's worked as a staff assistant for the US Congress, was an aide to State Senator Lisa Boscola and has been a campaign manager for Tara Zrinski. He's also held office with Easton City Council and Hanover Tp's board of supervisors.
The one thing he has going for him is that Joe Emrick is thoroughly unlikable, even among members of his own party. But he's hard to beat. He handily defeated Anna Thomas in 2024 even though she spent $1.4 million to topple him. In contrast, Emrick spent $311,000.
Warren told WFMZ-TV69 that "Northampton County deserves a better advocate for working folks, families, children, and our local communities." But do county corrections officers, 911 workers and the nursing staff at Gracedale consider him an advocate for them?
On NorCo Council, Warren has been known as one of Executive Lamont McClure's leading advocates. He has also introduced several nonbinding resolutions concerning matters like mass transit funding and a cap on rental fees charged in what we refer to as trailer parks. He has also pushed for more mental health funding and cosponsored a county ordinance that requires feminine hygiene products in all county-owned ladies' and family restrooms.
So, just as the DAs office has been a training ground for judges, Council is now a springboard to higher office. Everyone seems to want a better gig at the expense of the people.

ReplyDeleteAnyone is better than do nothing Emrick. If an airhead like Anna Thomas can get pretty close (700 votes) in the midterm year then it’s fairly likely in a good year for Dems like 26 is shaping up to be that someone with political savvy can oust him.

ReplyDelete5:58, As an elected official, he has been unimpressive even though I agree with most of his votes. I especially disliked that he waited until Nat Hyman left a meeting before criticizing him. He has been fairly partisan as well. And while he condemns Rs for attempting to politicize meetings, it appears that some of his resolutions were drafted so he could claim them in his campaign lit. But I have no idea whether he is a "worse human being." That's a tad harsh. He seems to be a good husband and father.

ReplyDeleteI'm no Emrick fan- he's arrogant & feckless, but the reason he's been hard to beat is: poor quality of opponents. From "1 vote" Joe Capozzolo to radical Ann Thomas, there hasn't been anyone who's sane enough to beat him, and now you can add Warren to the list. He & Keegan are the absolute worst Council Members- by far!

ReplyDelete8:15, Amy Cozze did well against him and Anna Thomas came even closer the first time she ran. The second time, I think the national mood and anger at Democrats played a role in her loss.

ReplyDeleteJeff Warren is another politician who is looking for his next election opportunity. He has held 3 different elected seats in recent years. Campaign finance reports shows tens of thousands of dollars from special interest groups....as a district county council person. His opinions and policy are much more radical than his press release would suggest. No way any of those jobs are paying his bills. This guy is equivalent to a traveling circus, scamming his constituents along the way. Chat GPT king with no tangible results to show for it.

ReplyDeleteJeff has a very polite and professional presentation but you nailed it Bernie: What is he if not a politician? He's obviously playing the McClure game and has used the County Council meetings to grandstand and throw irrelevant political barbs at other council members asking hard but necessary questions. Emrick is not flashy but I feel that Warren would turn the office into a clown show.

I take that back, he’s avoided propelling himself up Lamont’s a*s when he (Lamont) stopped quickly in the halls of the courthouse.
He’s gotten rich making money as a political consultant for Lamont, Tara and a bunch of other D’s.

DeleteAll this talk of about Joe Emrick’s likability. Over the years I have dealt with his office on two occasions and both experiences were positive. I really don’t know him well enough to say I like him, but his constituent services are good. I will vote for him again.
