Attorney Who Forgot His Cocaine in Juvenile Court Scheduled For Court Today

As I told you back in February, Stan Margle, age 67, a prominent Easton area attorney, has been charged with possession of both controlled substances and drug paraphernalia.  He was charged with these drug offenses after he left juvenile court but forgot his bag.  In an attempt to determine the owner, Sheriff Deputies opened the bag and discovered that it belonged to Margle. They also discovered what was later determined to be cocaine, along with the paraphernalia facilitating its use. There was also video surveillance showing Margle bringing a satchel into Juvenile Court and then leaving without it. He later returned for the bag, only to discover it had been turned over to county detectives.

He waived his preliminary hearing and is scheduled for criminal court today. He appears to be representing himself.

As a first offender, Margle is likely eligible for ARD.

Margle was a $1,000 campaign contributor to DA Steve Baratta.

There are no actions against him by the Pa. Disciplinary Board.

UPDATED 7/10/25, 12:00 AM (originally posted 7/8/25, 12:00 am)

Margle's criminal case has been rescheduled until August 28. At a hearing before Judge Michael V. Koury yesterday, Margle was directed to post $5,000 bail in bail, unsecured. This is essentially a promise to pay $5,000 if he fails to appear.

  1. A Barrett’s campaign donor using cocaine? Simply cannot believe it. Isn’t Lahoud a donor too?

    1. @5:32am: what relevance is it to this post that Lahoud is a campaign contributor to political candidates? It’s funny how you losers keep bringing up Lahoud. Jealousy. It must suck that you suck at life.

  2. He should be charged with DA and that does not stand for district attorney.

  3. This guy has been a mess with drugs for years. He had a misstep with drugs in the courthouse before, and let’s not forget his GF’s legal issue with drugs. A few months ago while reading the news I saw he is the solicitor for Wilson Boro, how does this guy get work in his current condition? Lastly, has anyone sat down with him to try and get him help? He was a hell of an attorney many years ago before the drugs.

    1. He told them during a meeting that these charges were all concocted and he was being maliciously prosecuted. Now we’re going ARD. Can’t be both buddy

  4. I'm sure Baratta will bury this just like he did the Lance Wheeler matter. So much for that robust code of ethics he spouted off about

  6. Whata waste of resources. A prominent attorney is using recreational cocaine. Gosh, give him 20 years. The 1980's called, they want the prosecutions mentality..

  11. @8:41 Last time I checked, "recreational cocaine" isn't legal. Nor recreational meth or recreational PCP, or recreational heroin.

    1. 8:41- Last time I checked, the "War on Drugs" was a dismal failure. Addiction should be treated as a medical issue, not a legal one.

  13. He was no doubt snorting drugs while listening to them beg him to get help.

  14. Given that he put his law office building up for sale a few weeks ago, I’m thinking he may plan on winding down his law practice very soon.

  15. What's the one about, a lawyer who represent himself...

  16. Shame he is not being forced to random drug screenings by pretrial. Still getting taken care of and won’t learn a thing from this.

  17. Any other litigant would be subject to pretrial services including random drug screen program. This seems like special treatment. Typical of this corrupt courthouse.

  18. No drug screenings... appears his partner in crime that works in the DAs office is really pulling some strings for him. How about force him into a clinic instead of allowing him to be before the Judges under the influence. where are the ethics in all of this?

    1. I do not believe his partner is in the DA office. His "friend" wears black robes

  19. Drug addiction is a life choice as opposed to a medical issue, although there are medical consequences to said life choice. Legalize all drugs, tax all sales on drugs and let natural consequences take over. If crime is committed while under the influence, then let this be and an exacerbating circumstance to increase sentencing guide lines.

    1. @1206 - drug addiction is not a choice, drug use is. Learn the difference.

  20. The Northampton County Court has an opportunity here to show that it holds people accountable no matter who they are. My guess is they will fail at this as usual.

  21. We need to compile a list of local celebrities and their well-earned nicknames: Lament McClure. Tzara Zrinski, DPRKK (Kelly Keegan), and her husband DrEd Keegan, C(riminal) C(lueless) Gerlach, CozzeCakes, Wee Willie (Bethlehem mayor), FedEd (former Allentown mayor), and now we have Kilogram Stan.

  22. Wasn’t there a post alleging he had a fixer in the DA’s office? Perhaps I imagined that.

  23. This case should never be heard in Northampton Cty. Its a conflict of interest. All these Judges and lawyers are in bed with each other. The just sentence a cop and gave him an aggravated sentence. Last time I checked making an example out of someone is a fast way to lose an appeal. Also the sentence does not meet the norm of that crime even for a cop. Sletvoid has issues with cops. Known fact. She lost a civil case with one so its bitter apples.
