Mayor Matt "Pee Wee Herman" Tuerk Tries to Stop Trump Rally in Allentown

Reader of this blog know I'm no fan of Donald Trump, and that's putting it mildly. But he is the Republican nominee for US President. If not Trump, the people who nominated him are entitled to some modicum of respect. A rally at Allentown's PPL Center was scheduled on Tuesday and Trump's advance team met in advance with Tuerk and had clearance for a road closure and the use of bicycle barriers to funnel people into the rally. He told Team Trump on three occasions that the intersection was theirs. But on the day of the event, Tuerk was spotted riding his bicycle around the event several times, after which he reversed himself and allowed traffic to flow while rally organizers attempted to place those barriers. He also made sure a nearby food truck, was cited for daring to serve people on their way in. It's pretty clear that he was attempting to interfere with the carnival.

Trump organizers went ballistic. Rarely have I heard curse words used so effectively as they were by a Trump volunteer festooned in a "47" blue jacket. "You're out of your fuckin' mind," he shouted at Tuerk, who looked very much like a Pee Wee Herman doppleganger, right down to the gray suit and sneakers. "You tried to pull some fake shit on the permits," he shouted, as Pee Wee tried to ignore him.

"You said we could close the entire intersection," Blue 47 shouted. "Then the day of you show up in a fresh suit with all your cameras trying to show like you're big and strong and you can shut this down?"

If that was his intention, he failed. But he did manage to make an ass out of himself. Pee Wee would go on to tell The Morning Call that he was simply trying to ensure that Lehigh County voters could make it to the elections office for ballot by demand. But I smell bullshit. He opened the intersection to traffic and ensured that a food truck was cited.

While I hope Trump loses on election day, Blue 47 should be our next Secretary of Defense.

  1. That ridiculous scene was initiated by the Allentown Mayor. He should have known better than to put himself into such into such a potentially hot confrontation in full public view. Cameras, hidden microphones, are everywhere these days. There is no question the Mayor made a huge mistake here. I know he will regret this incident for years to come.

As a Trump supporter (or should I have said cultist?) I was disappointed in the behavior of the TRUMP 47 worker. I’m sure he worked hard for a couple days setting that all up, was tired, and had a short fuse, but his verbal attack was way over the top and needs to be criticized, too. I couldn’t believe what I was watching.

    1. I love how you are disappointed in the Trump 47 worker but you give Trump himself a pass for his daily verbal diarrhea of lies and offensive, sexist, racist, vulgar, incoherent rants. But it's like you said.... You're in a cult.

  3. Tuerk says that video was "disinformation". Any other spin on this is just not correct and I suppose the media is to blame for how he acted through it all??

Allentown mayor says viral video of disagreement with Trump staffer "misinterpreted".

  6. A friend sent me that clip. The dude was going off in Pee Wee lol. Pee Wee looked befuddled. I think this Pee Wee name is going to stick it fits him perfectly!

  7. That guy was a big dude. Little Pee Wee is lucky he didn’t drop him. He clearly was in no mood for petty bullshit like that. This is what’s wrong with our politics today. There are no adults in the room on either side.

  8. Perhaps the mayor was in the wrong, but the other guy’s profane hissy fit made a mayor I think a fool look and sound reasonable.

  10. Pee Wee Tuerk brought discredit to the City of Allentown, his office, and himself. Discredit to him is the least concern. However the person setting up the bicycle barriers was completely correct on Pee Wee showing up with his cameras trying to look like a big shot. Pee Wee Tuerk should have welcomed the attention the rally brought to Allentown. Heis an embarassment to Allentown.

  11. I thought Tuerk missed a chance to put politics aside and be a good ambassador of the City. I supported him in the 2021 Democratic Primary, but I've been somewhat disappointed with his partisan demeanor, his sensitivity/thin skin and his blatant abuse of public entitlements (fancy car, junkets). That said, he's done less damage than other recent Democrat Mayors. If the Democrats run other qualified candidates in 2025, I could be on board for a new Mayor.

  12. He had the food truck cited because it was infringing on his kitten pitence from 7th's and reillyvilles vendors. Some of those places should have the orange tag unfit for human habitation let alone food sales.

  14. He claimed he was never contacted about it or invited to any planning meetings, yet his own communications director posted that street closing to the news outlets over an hour before this recording began.

  17. 12:35: A few points:

1). No hidden cameras captured what happened. The Mayor was well aware of the camera (looking directly at it several times) and I believe the video was taken by someone from his camp.

2). I doubt Tuerk will regret this. He is another self-serving politician who is only interested about his own publicity. He cares little about the embarrassment he caused the city. I have relatives out of state who saw this (on their own) and called up laughing at me for living here. I can only imagine the impression it left on individuals and businesses thinking about visiting or relocating here.

3). I thought the worker (Blue 47) was very restrained. He was working in the dark in the middle of a roadway that had been closed off to traffic. The mayor opened the barriers and allowed traffic up into the area where the man was working. He could have been killed. I think Blue 47 would have been justified in pummeling the mayor for that alone.

4). It’s interesting that the mayor is willing to open a traffic barrier on a worker working in the dark, while acting upset when other pedestrians are hit by vehicles in the city. He could have gotten the worker killed, and the incident further exposed him for the phony that he is.

  18. I was going to comment, but 12:35 already covered the points I hoped to make. The Trump 47 worker comes off as a disrespectful bully. Tuerk comes of as uninformed.

  25. Unless I am missing something, the Mayor is lying when he said he was only concerned that people could get to the voter registration office...the confrontation appears to have occurred when it was dark out, meaning it was past the 5 pm closing time of the office

  31. I’m incredibly disappointed. Allentown is NOT doing well, and the Mayor pulls this? Horrible.

I know there are nay sayers, but Bethlehem is looking pretty good and Willie is doing at least a passable job. I know there are nay sayers, but Panto has Easton moving in the right direction. This guy? This is just bad for Allentown.

  34. You're my boy Blue! This was a scumbag move from a weasel of a Mayor. I take it that is why he is in politics. Blue had every right to be upset, not only at the weasel for clearly lieing but also at the weasel for simply putting peoples lives in danger. I hope he does not treat his workers like this.

  41. The biggest lie of the whole video is that Tuerk was somehow standing up for the voters who might be voting at the LC Government Center the next day.

Only a total moron would think that the Secret Service would leave either 7th Street or Hamilton Street (adjacent to the arena) open on the day of the rally, something that surely was discussed with the city (and the Mayor) in advance. Thus there was no way that ANY private vehicle was making it to the Government Center for voting that day.

So the mayor is caught in another lie trying to excuse his behavior, and looks like an even bigger buffoon for thinking his residents would believe it.

  42. I frickin love this. I’m all for any Trump organized event falling on its face, and “Jacket 47” making a mockery as the organizer is chefs kiss. I’m so glad it’s gonna be a blowout for Kamala.

I can’t wait to come back on this blog on Wednesday and hear all the same ole tired excuses of a stolen election. I can’t frickin wait Bernie!!! I love this for them.

  45. Bernie I'm surprised that you would feed into the insulting reference to Allentown Mayor Tuerk as Pee Wee Herman. I would think that you would be a voice of reason. Everyone has a right to their opinion and this election has been a particularly nasty endeavor for the electorate. Someone has to be the impartial moderator of his own blog.
