Dent Voted For Harris: "Turn the Page on Dark Politics"

Back in 2010, I was a member of Northampton County's Democratic Committee. I was tied with several others who voted for themselves and ended up the winner in a casting of the lots. This drove the party apparatchiks nuts because I was highly critical of them and I openly supported Republican Congressman Charlie Dent. They even convened a special meeting in an effort to get rid of me. My recollection is that their attempt to remove me failed in a tie vote. And I continued to support Charlie Dent. I still do and consider him the best elected official the Lehigh Valley ever produced in my lifetime. He's a centrist who leans a little to the right. I am a centrist who leans a little to the left. I was very sorry to see him leave public office at a time when people like him are precisely what we need. But I understand why he left. The Trump cult is hard to take, especially when they claim to belong to your party. But Dent continues to impress me. According to Axios, Dent has voted for Kamala Harris.

"[Harris] and I will not agree on every issue, but in her, we have a capable leader who will always put the interests of our country before her own, unlike her opponent who will always put his personal interests ahead of those of the United States," he told Axios. "We have the opportunity – and solemn responsibility – to finally turn the page on the dark politics Trump has ushered in and elect a decent, honorable leader for President," he added.

Isn't it time to reject the fearmongering and hate?

  2. As expected, ‘go along to get along’ Charlie Dent emerges to regain a little relevance. Here’s a man who disgraced himself by running from the pressure of serving in Congress and then took payment as a stooge for liberal news media. He became their novelty as a guy willing to condemn the political party who helped him get elected in the first place. A male Liz Cheney, if you will.

Sorry, the man might be a friendly and kind neighbor, but I wouldn’t want to be found alone in a foxhole with him.

Thinking back over his career in Congress, his only notable achievement was posing for photos with any Boy or Girl Scout troop who knocked on the door.

As for ‘dark politics,’ Charlie Dent now chooses to align himself with the Masters of that Game. A good citizen no doubt and Charlie Dent can vote however he chooses. Just not impressed by his time in office. Weak.

  3. That quote is a joke. I didn't think much of him when I had to deal with him in my job and now I've lost any respect I might have had for him. Any Republican who'd vote for this dingbat marxist isnt really a Republican. Might as well be registered in the Communist Party.

  13. I always loved his million dollar smile as he voted to cut rich guys' taxes and regulations for big business, and funding for wars that would kill thousands of our kids. He's practically Ghandi and Mother Theresa wrapped up in a big, smiling package. Has he ever apologized to military families who lost sons and daughters, based on his lies? I just Googled and couldn't find anything. His endorsement is a stain on any candidate. Seriously, he really should apologize for the deaths he helped cause. Has he no decency?

    1. Is this John Goffredo again using his silly all-caps dErAnGeD writing style? Please stop that. It's terrible.

Also, America can always do better, but the real story of this election is not immigrant gangs, sex change operations, or whatever MAGA is talking about... it's about taxing the rich and trying to make the economy fair for everyone. Dems are trying, and Trump and his wealthy buddies are throwing every possible thing into the turbine to try to stop that plane from taking off.

Just look at that Fox News interview this week... what what Baier getting all huffy and antsy about? Sex change operations that were also allowed under Trump.

Trump's miserable debate performance? Cats and dogs are being eaten!

This week he's in Colorado saying illegal alien gangs are taking over the nation. What? Come on, man.

Let's get real. Vote blue. Tax the rich. Kick MAGA to the curb. Let's build a better country.

  21. I admired Dent for years. In the end however he changed and surely embraced more democratic positions and became too political. If Trump cared more about himself than the country he would not be running for President. All it's brought him is anguish personally for him and his family. Let's not forget who started the unrelenting assault of Trump and how we got here. Fact is half of the country prefers the policies of Trump and the Republicans. Guess we will all see on election day

    ReplyDelete

    1. Trump ran for President as a glorified publicity stunt meant to boost his "brand". Nobody, including himself ever expected to make it out of the 2016 primaries. I agree the anguish for him and his family was probably much more than he bargained for, but lets not delude ourselves into painting Trump as some sort of selfless public servant. He leveraged the Presidency into a money making machine for himself and his family, often on the backs and out of the wallets of the very people who think the he cares and fights for them.

    2. And when over half of the country votes for Harris, we'll just accept the results as the will of the people. No crying, no complaining, no accusations of cheating, no whining. When you lose, you lose.

  22. The fact is that in any election and at any level its nearly impossible to find a candidate that you would be completely in agreement with on everything, the exception being folks who are lazy and allow other people to tell you how to think, which sadly is very widespread these days across the political spectrum.

For most centrists and independents, choosing between candidates tends to come down to character and behavior. Does and will the individual lead and hold the office with respect and dignity, will they represent and be a good example of, and more importantly, to our society?

    1. In some situations having a President who is weak, wishy-washy, and all around nice and agreeable can lead to the nation being taken advantage of. All in the name of being a good guy or gal. That’s not leadership.

America deals with many groups (even inside)who want to destroy us, even to the point of wiping us out altogether. If forced into a dog fight, I want America to enter the ring with a Pit Bull, NOT a quivering Chihuahua dog.

I believe it's the reason they both bowed out. This seems to me the only reason politicians start out good and go haywire. It's a downright dirty business and it seems they're all afflicted and owned by someone except for Trump. Prove me wrong.
These politicians always land on their feet, too, and never seem to suffer financially.

  28. Dent is a smart guy. He didn’t always make the right decision, but he was capable of accepting new information and he could learn about an issue before making a decision. He knew really working with Trump was impossible. Trump can’t learn. Trump can’t accept facts that don’t agree with his preconceived ideas. It gotten worse as he’s gotten older. He can’t even learn how to pronounce the name of the candidate running against him. So while Americans were desperately trying to get Covid test kits Trump was sending some of to his buddy, Putin, along with the reader to utilize the test kits. What a pal! I guess January 6th was just another beautiful in DC.

    1. January 6 was a set-up by political leaders who did not want to deal with the changes Trump spoke of during his campaign. Trump was (and still is) seen as a threat to all the self-enriching games creeps like Nancy Pelosi, Mitch McConnell, Chuck Schumer, Barrack Obama, and Joe Biden participate in.

At NO TIME did Trump call for violence. Trump, in his remarks, acknowledged Americans’ right to protest but encouraged those who go forward to do so res-ectfully and peacefully. LOOK IT ALL UP!

Unfortunately, some in the crowd were enticed by security outside the Capital Building to push back physically. When you shoot flash bombs 20 rows deep into a crowd, the entire crowd surges out-of-the-way in every direction. There’s video.

The Morning Call and other sources do not describe this accurately. They promote falsehoods to push the continuation of their radical liberal agenda.

MAGA folks wearing MAGA gear and Proud Boys and others ransacked the Capitol looking to hurt people. Many cops injured... by people who pretend to "back the blue". Trump could have flown to Mar-a-Lago or whatever, but instead he held a rally on the Mall and told his brainwashed people to march on the Capitol. This is fact. 55. Yes, most observers were predicting Dent would not be re-elected. Dent was largely unproductive as a Member of Congress. Rather than stick around and fight to retain his reputation, Charlie Dent did the cowardly thing by quitting ahead of time.

I could accept Dent resigning because the job at hand was too difficult for him. What I can never excuse is his betrayal of fellow Republicans in Congress. He then chose to bask in the Democrat spotlight by selling himself out as a weapon against Trump. That’s pretty low class as I see it.
