China Experiencing Pneumonia Outbreak

Northern China is experiencing a pneumonia outbreak that appears to be affecting children (unlike COVID). Public health officials are paying attention, but see no reason to believe a new pandemic is on its way.

Chinese officials were initially accused of being less than transparent, as they were about COVID. But they have now met with WHO's Maria Van Kerkhove. She told Stat that the rise is due to something called an immunity gap created by the pandemic. "A dramatic reduction in circulation of other viruses and bacteria created a cohort of kids with few immunological defenses against bugs like influenza, RSV, and other cold-causing viruses, setting the stage for large outbreaks when those pathogens returned."

  1. I have a friend who’s a physician. He was telling me that they are seeing quite an uptick in Covid the past few weeks. It’s that time of year I guess.

As far as China goes, I think it’s safe to say their zero covid policy was a complete failure.

  2. Guess that's what happens when you mask everyone for a year. Of only some had tried to warn you vax addicts.

  3. Bernie two things: 1) never trust China; and 2) given WHO's performance during Covid, I'm not so sure they can be trusted either.

We are in a terrible place....

  4. Here we go again in five acts:
    1) Lockdowns and masks create an immunity gap.
    2) Sickness spreads.
    3) Lockdowns and masks are reinstituted to stop the spread.
    4) Rinse and repeat.
    5) Cue up Einstein's definition of insanity.

  7. Here we go again.

I took the opportunity to go back and see where this led us as documented by this blog. How long before folks start talking about bans on leisure driving (“killer gas nozzles!”), shuttering the liquor stores, and “lockdown until zero!”? What’s particularly stark is how some thought a difference of opinion thought “the other side” wanted people to actually die.

What I couldn’t find was the discussion I remember about youth isolation due to lockdowns leading to severe learning and developmental issues. It is now clear that has actually happened.

BTW, if we had been foolish enough to practice “lockdown until zero!” we’d STILL be locked down.

  8. I am still waiting for my reparations from China for the WUHAN fiasco. Millions dead, CHINA lied, WHO did nothing, and they are still scott free after killing people and destroying the world economies.

  9. Here we go again. Not all the "NUT JOBS" are locked up. Lots of them are contributing bullshit and nonsense right here on this blog. Needless to say, these misguided idiots are all TRUNPERS.

  10. "Over a million dead people in this country would be to differ ..."

They're dead. Lockdowns and masks and vaccines and hashtags and lectures from you and everything else failed them. Many died alone after only hugging family through Hefty bags. The kids got dumber, too. China welded citizens into their homes. You down for welding-in your fellow citizens? I suspect you probably are. Stand down and let the grown ups discuss this.

  12. So while we all argue or attack each other there is still the important question related to what is happening in China. WHO should go there and investigate rather than ask questions and get answers no one trusts. Travel restrictions should be considered until we have the facts.

  13. WHO is China. They/it lied for the last four years. WHO is neither credible nor trustworthy. Have you watched news in the last few years?
