NorCo Housing Authority Discusses Revival of Housing Development Corp

Gwen Didden, Executive Director of NorCo Housing Authority, updated County Council last week about the revival of its Housing Development Corp. She stated that the purpose of this nonprofit is to provide more housing opportunities for low to moderate income families and be an advocate with developers.

She will recommend that the Housing Authority seed the nonprofit with some funding.

  1. How do you ensure that those sorts of programs help hardworking families down on their luck but not draw more poor to the area?

  2. At one time, many moons agp, didn't County Council have a voting member on the Northampton County Housing Authority? What is the recommendation of that member? Surely Council has representation on that Board as they do on several other Boards and Authorities i.e. Airport Authority, Lehigh/Northampton Planning Commission, etc.???????????

  3. I believe NorCo Council appoints all, not just one, member of the Housing Authority. This satellite company will have one member appointed by NorCo Council. I am sure everyone agrees the revival of this corp is a good idea. It is a way to increase housing opportunities.

One way to do that is to require that applicants be residents of the county for so many years. I agree this should be for LV residents.

  5. Bicycle riding promotion is being funded by the proponents of so called 15 minute cities a dystopian communist plot that is currently being implemented by Anne Hidalgo in Paris where cars are slowly being banned from important arteries. Bro Rogan has had an excellent exposé on the treachery of 15 minute cities which seek to be open air prisons funded by Jorgé Soros, not om our watch.

    Uhuru!

  6. Affordable Housing shortages are throughout this country and includes Puerto Rico. When an area tries to address local housing shortages nonlocal residents come into area and stay with relatives and friends in our area and then state they are homeless and get a leg up on any local housing.

  7. 1:16, It should be fairly easy to check where someone has lived the past few years. If they live here, even if they stay with relatives for a few years, they are local whether you like it or not.

  8. The 15 minute city sounds like a great idea, let us try it what do we have to lose?

Maybe, Easton and surrounding areas could be the first city to have bike lanes, ban old gasoline cars and install open air prisons for the less violent offenders in our society.
