NorCo Controller Candidates to be Interviewed By County Council Today

Northampton County Council will interview candidates today for the Controller seat that became vacant after Richard "Bucky" Szulborski passed away. This will occur during a public meeting of Council's Personnel Committee. Council has until the end of July to decide on someone. Whoeveris appointed will serve until the end of the year, when an elected Controller takes over. That elected Controller will either be Tara Zrinski or John Cusick.

  1. I'm pretty sure that Mezzacappa has an accounting or business degree from a school in Jersey.

  2. I understand that any person who applied and is qualified will be interviewed. An accounting degree is not needed. You need only be a US citizen who lived continuously in the county for a year prior to the start of this term.

What rules her out, quite obviously, is that she is conflicted. A Controller should be independent but fair. She is conflicted. She is suing the county in both federal and state court, seeking money damages. I'll stop there.

You own views are appreciated, especially if they differ from mine. But remember, commenting is a privilege, not a right. I will delete personal attacks or off-topic remarks at my discretion. Comments that play into the tribalism that has consumed this nation will be declined. So will comments alleging voter fraud unless backed up by concrete evidence. If you attack someone personally, I expect you to identify yourself. I will delete criticisms of my comment policy, vulgarities, cut-and-paste jobs from other sources and any suggestion of violence towards anyone. I will also delete sweeping generalizations about mainstream parties or ideologies, i.e. identity politics. My decisions on these matters are made on a case by case basis, and may be affected by my mood that day, my access to the blog at the time the comment was made or other information that isn’t readily apparent.
