Panto Won a Debate, But May Have Lost Some Votes

I've already told you about the Easton Mayoral debate Monday night between incumbent Sal Panto and challenger Peter Melan. On the stage stage, Panto was better. But he may have lost some votes before it started.

A throng of about 100 or so people sat in the pews of Colton Chapel, waiting for the show. Among them was Danny Cohen, a well-respected Easton lawyer who probably loves Easton as much as Panto himself. They've worked together on many projects over the years and have supported each other. Everybody loves Danny.

Except me. I hate everyone.

Danny and Peter Melan are close friends. Danny opted to support his friend in the Mayoral contest.

When Panto made his grand entrance, Danny offered his hand to Panto. The Mayor snubbed him, and in the process, might have actually lost a few votes.  The Mayor snubbed me too, and that may have gained him a few votes. Nobody likes bloggers.

Except me. I think I'm pretty cool.

    1. Oh, it’s very true…. and it’s not just Danny Cohen he’s doing it to

  3. He's still a punk from Milton Street with horrible grammar and an immature nasty streak. He's actually held Easton back from even greater heights because of personal grudges and lack of vision.

  4. Hopefully people finally see Panto for what he is -- a small man.

  5. That’s a typical Panto move, big head and thin skin. Guaranteed the entire family will follow the King’s path. That’s one of the reasons I’d like to see get knocked down a few pegs.

  6. Pantos biggest supporters are the gang members, drug dealers, and gun offenders who have thrived in the city during his tenure.

Eastonians are stupid. And they stick with stupid.

  8. I look at the comments in this thread and laugh. I think Easton is fantastic city and alot of the transformation it underwent is because of Panto.

You people why politics is filled with egomaniacs and idiots, because anyone with half a brain and any decency doesnt want to get smeared by a bunch of anons on a blog or social media.

Get a life. If you think can do better, THAN DO BETTER!

  9. BernieOHare to 2:36, I can assure you I’d be lousy as an elected official. My strength is observation, and at times, those being observed resent it. That’s understandable.

I believe Panto has been a good mayor, but he hates even constructive criticism. There is no excuse for the way he treated Danny and I told him that to his face today when I saw him at the courthouse.

  11. Nobody with a bankruptcy should run a budget like we have in city of Easton .

  12. Aren't you getting a little tired of dredging up a very old bankruptcy that, if anything, gave Panto a lot more empathy for struggling people? Most of us are one or two paychecks away from that situation.

  13. Bad move by Sal. Now he will only win by 34.9% instead of 35%

  14. This mayor also walked into Angelo’s restaurant and announced he’s never coming in her again (after 30 years) , because they catered an event in Northampton Street that was wonderful for Peter Milan . -What? Here is some unknown history of our mayoral activities. First of all he was in some young dem thing at his college early. Not bad looking guy then. Ah, but he’s in this to avoid the draft , the Vietnam was was on and some guys were getting killed . Now now body ever printed this stuff about him . So he graduated with Hillman and Joe Hollywood . He secures a job with EASD so now he’s safe from draft , 1973 draftees end he gets ready to run for mayor and “we “ all on College hill help him including me, a Republican. Then his marriage falls apart, the gal he had had 3 kids with , he moves out cuts off the heat ,takes car out of driveway on cold wet March day , she had no buying privileges at store ,no car. And had coal dropped off in driveway to heat no1 Vermont steel stove in front foyer. ,I even know who owns that stove now. he’s playing with the Larry travel agent .gets divorced. Got more . We need to knock this king off his horse . And I sign my name.
