Although we've seen nothing, we're been told that former President Donald Trump has been indicted by a Manhattan Grand Jury, presumably over hush money payments made to Stormy Daniels. News accounts claim there are 30 counts charged, including at least one felony. As people erupt in outrage over what might or might not be a politically motivated prosecution, Reuters is reporting that the feds now have additional evidence of Trump's obstruction of efforts to turn over classified documents.
Who leaked the story that Trump was indicted and that it is a 30-count indictment?
We don't know, but it obviously comes from someone in the Manhattan DA's office.
Who ratted Trump on supposed evidence of obstruction?
We don't know, but it obviously comes from the Department of Justice.
No one is above the law, including Donald Trump. But we are all supposed to be cloaked with a presumption of innocence and are entitled to due process.
Leaking Grand Jury materials, whether it comes from the state or the feds, is an obvious effort to smear Trump in the eyes of the public.
It also happens to be a crime.
Every person working in the Manhattan DA's office and in the confidential documents case should be asked to undergo a polygraph test.
The leaks should be investigated hopefully in a better way than the joke of investigating the Supreme Court leaks.
ReplyDeleteThe leaks could come for a variety of reasons.
Someone wants to let the world know of all of trump's sins.
Or
trump wants to taint the jury pool(he is less than popular in NYC) so this could be both a delay tactic and change of venue game.
Readers need to ask themselves, Am I truly happy about the way our government is being managed?
ReplyDeleteMy answer is, absolutely not. We are headed in a very wrong direction.
Wow, you never thought that this has been 8 years of leaks, false anonymous sources, leaks of the narrative of presidential phone calls, fake allegations of Russian collusion, now you are concerned by leaks from the DA's office.
ReplyDeleteAdmit it Bernie like most die hard democrats believe the end justifies the means. That Trump and his followers are deranged and the enemy and it must be squashed at all costs even the destruction of the country.
His campaign has raised nearly $6 million in three days. His support from all corners is back, as he enjoys a new 30-point lead in the primary polls. He's now the acceptable lesser of two evils choice again, where he hasn't already been elevated to deity. Similar to tampering with last year's primaries, Dems are working to guarantee Trump's nomination. He's certainly beatable, as has been shown. DeSantis, on the other hand, would wipe the floor with any Democrat. Dems knows this and are desperately trying to get damaged Trump nominated, instead. It's a tricky strategy. But it worked last year. The danger is when Republicans indict Biden or Harris down the road, which is now a certainty. Dems likely figure those two are expendable, as their internal polling currently indicates. This is strictly politics and has zero to do with law. But the politics are fascinating.
ReplyDeleteIt is just as logical to assume that Trump, either personally or through his attorney, leaked the information. Recall Trump is the same guy who would make believe he was "John Miller"acting as his own publicist. Trump's narcissism requires he be in the news at all times. He was the one who announced, incorrectly of course, that he was being indicted 10 days before it actually happened.
ReplyDeleteBut aren't those leakers "above the law?" And always pure of heart and intent? Integrity and rule of law is not always found in our system. What a circus but it is the only one we have. Think I will go for a walk.
ReplyDeleteI know who is doing this. John Barron, John Miller and David Denison. Wanna bet?
ReplyDeleteOrange man bad. All laws are suspended in the blood lust to diminish the orange meanie.
ReplyDeleteIf the "powers that be" would just leave the star spangled tanner alone he would diminish himself handily. Instead, the blood lust keeps him in the headlines and makes thousands want to attend his rallies because the man is trying to keep him down.
Kicking the dorito dictator off of the socials boosted his street creds. Raiding his resort in FL raised his street creds. Two failed impeachments. The list goes on.
The orange man loves a public fight. It's reality TV at its finest.
The Court approved the disclosure of the indictment:
ReplyDeletehttps://www.lawfareblog.com/new-york-supreme-court-judge-allows-public-disclosure-trump-indictment
"It is just as logical to assume that Trump, either personally or through his attorney, leaked the information."
ReplyDeleteI agree Trump could be the leak in NY, but doubt he'd know that it is a 30 plus count indictment. I also think it's highly unlikely he'd dime himself for going into the storage room and removing confidential documents he wanted for himself. That's someone inside DOJ. I would insist on polygraphs by all DA staff and by all DOJ staffers involved in the confidential records case. These leaks do shred the presumption of innocence to which we are all entitled. I do not fault the reporters bc they are informing us, but I do fault the leakers.
The illegal leaking could only have come from Bragg or his office staff. The practice is quite common even at the Federal level.
ReplyDeleteNOW, there is an expectation (due to a leak?) that Trump will be placed under a gag order prohibiting him from talking about matter.
Trump has a televised statement to make from Florida at 8:15 PM. Will that occur? In any case, just being indicted under such flimsy justifications has incensed more of the public by the day. His fundraising and ratings are soaring. A gag order, IF it is applied, will heighten citizen disgust with this government.
This latest strategy to damage and remove Trump from consideration is NOT good for what has previously been considered a representative democratic republic.
It's time to come to terms with your cult leader getting arrested!
ReplyDelete"The Court approved the disclosure of the indictment:"
ReplyDeleteYes, the court order authorized only the disclosure of a true bill, not the fact that it includes over 30 counts, including at least one felony. The public disclosure of the fact of the indictment came before the court order. NBC cited three anonymous sources. https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/donald-trump/live-blog/live-updates-manhattan-grand-jury-indicted-donald-trump-rcna75172
No court has authorized the DOJ to disclose to the press that its investigation into confidential documents has revealed that Trump himself was rifling thru documents.
Political B.S. is ruining our country. MSM is partly to blame. We the people are the only ones who are getting the shaft. This economy, open borders, crime, billions of dollars handed to other countries etc. It is time for new blood in the White House as well as many other facets of our government.
ReplyDeleteTrump will prevail just like he did on all the other witch hunts by the left wing democrats. We need Trump more than ever because if you have any brains you can see what Biden and his idiots are doing to this country on every issue period.
ReplyDeleteTrump's downfall started with a porn actress. Tax fraud, obstruction of justice and treason will complete it.
ReplyDeleteAll the hallmarks of a good and righteous Christian. Lmfao!
DeleteThank you, Bernie (11:15AM) for clarifying this. I was about to offer the same. That link goes to what is essentially a ‘form letter’ that precedes the announcement of all indictments. As far as I’m concerned, the Lawfare group has shown itself willing to rely on underhanded tactics. Probably leaks plenty of things itself.
ReplyDeleteI think the “legal fees” = false business record is not in NY State, a felony . AG Bragg was voted in his position,he’s a politician . I’d say - he’s about to “find out” misdemeanor. Orange Man may not be so blazingly guilty.
ReplyDeleteIf hush money payments need to be investigated why is this not being looked at? It was our tax money that was used and nobody cares.

Let us not forget the twenty some jurors. I knew a loved one on a Morganelli Northampton County grand jury for two years. While she would not discuss anything during those two years, I learned lots afterwards.
ReplyDeleteChina sends a spy balloon over our country that collected mililtary intelligence back to China and we are talking about Trump being indicted for alleged hush money payments. Last time I checked these type of payments are legal and Cohen paid w/his money. I hope there is a blog post about this tomorrow and how there needs to be somebody fired for letting this balloon situation happen. Boggles my mind how there is no accountability for this. Left wing receipts below

11:41, Can you at least try to stay on topic? In case you haven't noticed, it is I and not you who decides what I write about. You are criticizing me now for failing to report on a national story that just broke. You also seem to be unaware that this is primarily a local blog. Two of the three stories today are local. People like you have no interest in what happens locally, as evidenced by your failure to offer anything meaningful to those stories. Also, next time you refer to news links as "left wing receipts," I will refuse to publish your rants
ReplyDeleteWhat type of person would support a philanderer, liar and cheat like Don Trump. I think most people know the answer.
ReplyDeleteWhat makes you think the leaks didn't come from the Trump people?
ReplyDeleteThese left-wing democratic idiots are as dumb as you can be. We must get rid of the political class and the deep state people in this country. They have led us down the drain we are now a third world nation. Are only hope is a strong person like Trump who will get rid of the deep state and the political class and yes he does have a plan--Did you not hear the 10 steps to get rid of the deep state boy do we need him. He also will put in term limits so we do not get anymore Bidens, Pelosi, Schumers and many more. 4 more years of Trump and 8 years of the Florida governor Desantis and this country will once again be proud and stand for America first.
ReplyDeleteWhat damage? What's going to matter is the evidence at the trial.
ReplyDeleteIf polygraph evidence isn't admissible in court, then why should it be accepted for any other purpose?
ReplyDelete"What type of person would support a philanderer, liar and cheat like Don Trump. I think most people know the answer."
ReplyDeleteSame people that supported Bill Clinton?
Hey, I'm just waiting to see how DJT handles a gag order.
ReplyDeleteIf you use words and phrases like "Deep State" and "Strong Man" when discussing politics, you don't belong discussing complex thoughts and ideas.
ReplyDeleteGrand jury leaks when a Republican is the subject are not a crime. Your lack of legal training is showing.
ReplyDeleteMany leaks come from the person who will look bad. This is a tactic to time and spin information that is bound to come out anyway.
ReplyDeleteI do expect there will be some vandalism, violence outside the courthouse. This is almost to be expected these days. Please be careful when you access blame. The bad actors won’t necessarily be Trump supporters, regardless what they are wearing. This is our new reality, unfortunately.
ReplyDeleteI wouldn’t go near that area if you picked me up at home and took me there by limo. Hope for calm. Assume your votes still count.

ReplyDelete"No court has authorized the DOJ to disclose to the press that its investigation into confidential documents has revealed that Trump himself was rifling thru documents."
Yet one could see trump's attorney leaking the rifling as the attorney is on the hook for
signing off on their "thorough search"
trump will claim he ordered his attorney to search and return all documents--and throw that attorney under the bus.
Then he will claim he had no knowledge that they missed the classified items in his desk drawer and the blame lies on the attorney not him.
Little hard for him to claim that after seeing the film.
I say ,in my humble opinion,- They got a ham sandwich, parking ticket.— AG Briggs will be diluted, his incompetence will be revealed. He’s a lefty bumbler, that wants to test the water at tax payers expense. Well , I said it this will be another imbalance of Saros money.
ReplyDeleteAMERICA is imploding at the very roots of the republic it was built upon!
ReplyDeleteWhy are almost All posters afraid to post their names ? I know the reason. By the way a Russian Blogger got blown up today in coffee shop . I always post my name underneath the 1st.AD . My protective issues are 2 AD. My biggest issue is School security, I’m sure guys like me could “fix it” . So- get an issue going here locally. Need to fix it. .I post my name - because I have the mental thought process to contribute here without being intimidated having been a veteran of the Marine Corps first. Evan at 70 years old. I like my neighbor s , I love animals,my bride and kids. I want and pry this country still be a Federal Republic . I would personally defend your wife of daughter in a bad situation. Bernie stay out of coffee shops.
ReplyDeleteUnfortunately the world today is such that stating your opinions even nicely you can find yourself a target of many angry people who can't comprehend others opinions may vary from theirs. Cancel culture. Violence. Hatred. Those are the reasons one may not post name. Even peaceful protests can get you in trouble. No voice for many right now. I pray that changes. I pray for our country to find decency again
DeleteOne interesting twist on all of this is the situation’s impact upon the Republican Party Organization. The Republican Party has final authority on who it will present as a Presidential candidate. The Republican Party COULD simply decide to decline being associated with Trump’s candidacy and, essentially, fire him from membership.
ReplyDeleteIf the Republican Party, of which far too many in Congress are remaining silent here, actually makes such a stupid step, it will effectively kill itself as a political party. Its candidates next time will lose in record numbers as Trump supporters refuse to vote for them. As it is, any currently-in-office Republican Member of Congress who does not speak out in support of Trump NOW is about to be shunned by a large segment of potential voters. Guaranteed!
Trump could decide to run as a Third Party candidate, pulling millions of Republicans out of the Republican Party for good. If a Pennsylvania Republican in office somewhere isn’t considering these possibilities they are making a huge career mistake. I am registered in Pennsylvania as ‘No Party,’ having given up on the weak Republican Party 7 years ago.
It was probably his lawyers leaking floating a balloon the see the response. The are from the esteemed law firm of. Tapioca, Mahoney and Snerd.
ReplyDeleteBack to the possibility of a leaker. it seems to me anyone who followed trump closely could count many illegal acts he committed per week and whittle down to thirty of the most serious and put that number out there as as assumption of what could be charged. No leaker needed.
ReplyDeleteBill Clinton paid $850K to Paula Jones for her silence following his alleged rape of her. Isn't that payment fair game, also?
ReplyDelete“Gag” order in a case involving a porn star? Sounds like the old days in the Adult section of your local video rental store.
ReplyDeleteSo let me get this straight…there are people that think it was Trump or one of his people who leaked the information about the indictment? To NBC of all networks? And NBC identified the source as “anonymous” to protect Trump or one of his people from criminal prosecution for said leak? Well that seems totally plausible in light of the protection he’s gotten from the media for all these years.
ReplyDeleteHillary paid for the phony Steele Russia dossier with campaign funds, illegally calling it legal fees. She was fined. Her offense is substantially worse. Why isn't she being charged? Her fine is a matter of public record and also undermines the entire ridiculous Russia lie, that this blog has never corrected the record on. Add it to the long list. Lol.
ReplyDelete2.17
ReplyDelete" illegally calling it legal fees. She was fined"
She did not take a tax deduction like trump did.
So trump was trying to take an illegal tax deduction.
Hillary did not.
Because a public record exists it seems a little odd that the weaponized trump DOJ had no problem with it.
Unless trump is part of the "deep" state.

ReplyDelete"Bill Clinton paid $850K to Paula Jones"
yep and he did it in full view of the right wing who made the most of it.
He did not try to hide it like trump did.
President Clinton also was mid term when this happened unlike trump who was desperate to hide his multiple sins from evangelical voters who might just think trump had no moral values.
Turns out evangelicals do not care about morals as they supported trump anyway.
