Will NorCo Council Hold Myers Accountable?

Today and tomorrow, Northampton County Council will meet. It is more likely than not that Council President Kerry Myers was using his Twitter account to interact with phishing accounts disguised as scantily clad women. He demonstrated very poor judgment, both as a person and supposed leader. This follows a Sunshine Act violation in his first meeting. Will County Council do the right thing and remove him if he fails to resign as President?

Their decision to appoint him was a mistake. He had already demonstrated that he uses foul language and is a demagogue. He actually threatened them with consequences when the tabled a proposed black elections commissioner because she was employed by a candidate. He had already undermined the authority of the Sheriff by stating he'd refuse to follow orders if he were a Deputy. But Council member Ron Heckman nominated him, and he was elected thanks to votes from all five Democrats, including himself. They did this because this is an election year, and they wanted to give him an edge in his campaign for re-election. The Democrats on County Council chose partisanship over good government.

County Council includes two women who should be offended at his objectification of women,. And the women who posed for those pictures almost certainly are victims o0f abuse. Will these female Council members object to Myers or will they let him slide because he is, after all, a fellow Democrat?

My guess is that no one will say a word.

What about the Republican council members? I'd love to blame them, but they had no part in the election of Kerry Myers as Council President.

If the Democrats on Council believe in good government, they will at least ask Myers for a public explanation. But they will exalt politics over good government and brush this under the rug.

I love when people tell other people how to feel because of their immutable characteristics while not being a member of that group they are telling how to react.

  2. You posted the pictures for comments and clicks... You are no better than this guy. So to call for his resignation over a few comments, none of which were vulgar or tasteless, is also calling for you to step out of the public light.
You use more vulgar and obscene language on the weekly. You should apologize as well.

    But you won't do either.

  3. NorCo residents richly deserve the nasty, partisan operation of the county by woke Democrats. And you defend them most days. Elections have consequences. Voters decided to let a band of hyperpartisans rule over them. You defend it most days. We deserve every bad thing these zealots do to us. And you defend them most days. How did we get here with you watching so closely? Lol.

And that’s something new to report on?

  6. Tara voted no for Kerry in the first round of votes for him to be president. She reluctantly voted yes in the second round. Why don't you write about that? God forbid you had to agree with something she did. She should've been the president despite your disdain for her.

  7. Not saying you are wrong. I'm sure the demigods, McClure and Bowtie, look at the same. Get rid of them too!

  10. If he used a government account for personal use, that's one thing. Otherwise, you seem tyo be on some sort of vendetta. It's not a good look.

  11. As Chairwoman of PA Dems Women’s Alliance, Vargo-Heffner’s silence on this matter is deafening.

  12. John Cusick voted for Kerry Myers. He should make the motion to demote if that’s a thing.

  13. If Kerry comes forward publicly and apologizes for his behavior, he should be fine.

  14. As scandals go, this is minor. Meyers just says I’ve caused my family pain, give us time to heal, etc.

  15. The real problem for Kerry the Kreeper isn’t that he’s on County Council. The real problem is that he’s a youth sports coach and works as an ambulance driver. These are positions of trust.

Cusick did NOT vote for Myers. I believe he abstained from voting . He had been nominated for President and chose not to vote at all. In other words, he displayed class.

I don't wrote about this bc it's untrue. Zrinski did vote for Myers in the fiorst round of balloting. The only Dem who failed to vote for him is Kevin Lott, but he voted for him in the second round. I would have been happy to praise Tara bc she obviously knows Myers is bad, but she chose partisanship over good government.

  18. I'd be surprised if Zrinski broke out her bullhorn, unless she sees a way for it to help her (endless) campaign(ing).

He denies it was him and claimed someone spoofed or hacked him. It would be difficult to prove and would require too many resources to do so. "Deny and they'll let it pass and forget about it in due time" is a good tactic that will work.

  19. Perhaps it will be the voters, not council or Mr. Myers, who will make the decision as to whether or not Mr. Myers remains as a council member.

  20. I am a woman and couldn’t care less about this nonsense. Myers didn’t “objectify,” rather he commented. Big whoop! There are few among us who have never admired someone’s physique. I know Ben Affleck would get a second look from me.

  21. I don't know the guy and I don't know much about local politics...but, so? He commented on some Twitter posts from his private Twitter account. This is low, move on.

  22. Watched the meeting today because of pay study. Nothing on Myers but it is pretty clear that the McClure gang has no respect for the county council.

You mean to tell me, especially in black history month, that the council president who touts himself as a leader and mentor of the youth, especially at Varsity E, would accept this behavior on Twitter as acceptable? I just watched a news piece on WFMZ about people making present day history. They interviewed a black barber named Mr. Clyde. He never drank or smoke. He doesn't allow profanity in his shop. He has taught many people how to become barber and own their own barber shops. He is now in his 90's. Came to the Lehigh Valley in 1956. Overcame racism in the Valley to become known as the father of black barbers in the Lehigh Valley. Our representatives in OUR government should be beyond reproach. We should be demanding his censure or at the very least an explanation. Hopefully he will show remorse.

  24. @7:57 not sure what meeting you were watching, but the McClure administration is following the law and doing as instructed. Council is getting that it wants, but does not like the laws or more likely does not know them.
