Rumor: Three NorCo Council Members Pondering State House Bid

I've been informed that three NorCo Council members are pondering a state house bid next year. I decline to name them until I've had a chance to speak with them. All three are Democrats.

Anyone has the right to run for anything. But when three candidates from the same governing body run for another job at the same time, County government is bound to suffer,

We've got some serious problems. Staffing at Gracedale is below state standards.  The nursing home has an inexcusable one-star rating. Employees have actually lost ground, thanks to inflation and an unwillingness to use the step system as contemplated by the merit personnel system established in the Home Rule Charter.  Council members should forget their own ambitions for now, and do what they were elected to do - serve the people.

With a county in crisis, I think any Republican opponent could quickly attack Democratic candidates for failing their constituents. Besides, next year looks pretty bad for Democrats.

  2. All three plan to primary for the same seat, or run for three different seats?

  3. Three? Not sure about that. There are two names that jump out. Zirinski is not shy about her greatness and tells everyone she should be in Harrisburg on her way to Washington Also Hefenr is rumored to be bragging about her running for higher office.
They both have the oversized egos to do it. Zirinski has proved that, and word is Hefner is really into the title President and demands respect for her title and loves to give people orders.

  4. I only know of one and she never stopped campaigning

  5. County has been breaking their own policies for years by not using the merit system and NOT reviewing ANNUALLY their employees. If employees broke policies at all they are reprimanded. What is happening to the administration for breaking policies! NOTHING! Mancini sued them in her case. So should others.

  6. I'm guessing Ron Heckman isn't one of them, so that narrows it down.

  7. You're on the right track. What ever happened to the Mancini case. She won her case at every level in the courts and it appears the county is still not settling. What's the story on that case and did the County settle?
As for three council/commissioners running for higher orifice, until we find out who they are we should wait. If it is someone who just got elected, I personally feel that is a poor decision on their part and I would not vote for that person.
Now if it were Bernie running for the highest orifice in the county, Bernie gets my vote.

  8. Whoever gave you this info has no idea what they're talking about.... Lori has been clear that she isn't primarying Kevin Branco who has already announced for the 131st, so you're trying to tell us Lott and Myers are entering a 3 way primary against Bob Freeman or Ron Heckman is looking to take out Steve Samuelson? I can't even type that with a straight face. This article boarders on irresponsible it's so laughable. Nice try.

  9. Zrinski pretty much announced her intent on Iannelli's TV show.

  10. We're governed by politicians, not public servants. Remember this each time you read a fluff piece on career pols. Ducks quack. Dogs bark. Politicians run. We are governed by politicians.

  11. My guess: Zrinski is challenging Flood again. Vargo Heffner is going to run against Milou Mackenzie. And Lott is running for Freeman's seat, who will be retiring.

  12. Which seat is Steve Lynch running for? Or is he going after Susan Wild?

  13. The reason higher office is sought isn't to better serve the people. State pays more than County. They want that 10x paycheck.

  14. Those who can, do.
    Those who can't, teach.
Those who can't do either, manage.
Those who can't do either, or manage, run for office.

Our best and brightest are too smart for politics. This is not new.

  15. New districts are out. Zrinski is no longer in Flood's district. Hanover is split between Samuelson & Emrick. She would be better off running for the new dark blue Senate District 14. In a Democratic primary you have to concede that Tara is a formidable candidate. The general election will be a cake walk for any D with a pulse.

The new 131st is now a Republican seat. Can't imagine much interest from HDCC.

  16. With new districts, Zirinski is in Samuelson's district. She could primary him and beat his deadbeat ass. Then she would walk in in November. The guy has been goldbricking and getting paid for over r20 years. Hefner is thinking of running against Branco in the new District and taking out Bruno's Canidate. Those are th only ones I am aware of now.

  17. Will believe this when I see it. Scatterinski lady is always running for something, but 2 more from the Dems, I doubt it.

  18. Samuelson is a bump on a log. He talks talks talks but gets nothing done. He gets nothing passed and the rest of the house has no respect for him.

  19. Zrinkski is in Emrick's district now, she should ask Cozze for advice - oh wait, she was just the sole no vote on her raise, looks like she made yet another self-sabotaging move. For a professional candidate, she's REALLY bad at politics.

  20. Zrinski is in Emricks district now? Have the new districts been drawn? Perhaps when you get a chance Bernie you can give us a breakdown of the districts.
