Five at-large NorCo Council seats are up for election this year. The Democratic nominees are incumbents Ron Heckman, Lori Vargo-Heffner, Bill McGee, Tara Zrinski and newcomer Patti Bruno. The Republican nominees are John Brown, Kristin Lora-Soldridge, Nicole Romanishin, John Goffredo and Anna Marie T. Robertone. I'd like to inform you about each of the candidates. To that end, I am going to send each of them a series of questions this week. If they reply, I'd like to run their answers early next week.
My biggest question is what they think of GOP Exec hopeful Steve Lynch's participation in the January 6 insurrection at the nation's capitol, followed by his threat to bring "20 strong men" to remove Northampton Area School Directors over a mask mandate. Do they believe in the democratic process or not? I believe the second most important area of inquiry is Gracedale, where far too many residents were fatally stricken by Covid. Did the McClure administration do everything it could to protect lives or did it fail?
Post your questions in the comments and I will forward the best five to the candidates.
Here's a question for Mr. Lynch.....
ReplyDeleteMr Lynch, as an outsider and let me repeat that, as an outsider, and I mean strictly as an outsider, what do you think about the Human Race?
Here's a question for Mr. Heckman.....
Mr. Heckman, is it true that when you were just a youngster, you were vaccinated with a "victrola needle?"
That should get you started. All my other questions are just down hill after that.
for example.....Is it true Bernie that when you were born, you were one of a set of twins and your dad told your mom that they couldn't afford twins so she should pick the good looking one and he would drown the "ugly one" and that was when you learned how to swim.
Have a good day. I love your blog.
Have any of the candidates running for county council on either ticket condemned Steve Lynch's statements to the Northampton School Board?
ReplyDeleteJohn Brown, what are you going to do different as a councilman that you couldn’t do as a county executive?
ReplyDeleteName 3 things you will do that will improve the daily lives for ALL citizens of Northampton county, not just your specific voters.
ReplyDeleteIn an increasingly partisan world, that consumes "news/opinions" in 30 second sound bytes, what can YOU as a member of council do to improve today's political environment?
What will you do on council to promote and demonstrate a spirit of cooperation?
Do you support the construction of a Monorail that goes from the Slate Belt, to Easton, thru Bethlehem and finishes at Lehigh Valley International Airport? Would you support a spur line that goes to Coca Cola Park and into downtown Allentown if Lehigh County paid for it?
Figured I'd put some silly questions in there for them to lighten things up.
Tara Zrinkski, would you consider yourself a Democrat socialist?
ReplyDeleteWhile not County issues per se, what is your stance and level of support for Redistricting Reform in Harrisburg? Do you support an independent redistricting commission? Also, should we reduce the size of our state legislature? Term limits?
ReplyDeleteHow many evenings per month will you be wining and dining at the Pomfret Club?
ReplyDeleteSeptember 8, 2021 at 8:38 AM = three stupid questions that have nothing to do with County Government
ReplyDeleteAll incumbents: when will you release death toll figures related to NorCo fresh air, sliding board and swingset play that tore through our county, prompting the closure of parks. How many died and what are you hiding? Did you react too late during the seesaw outbreak?
ReplyDeleteWith warehouses taking over our farmland what will you do to stop this and preserve the living standards for the citizens of Northampton county.
ReplyDeleteMr. Lynch, you have a very small support base and I don’t think you will be elected, but…. In the event you are the new executive, how will you work with the courts, council, and county to keep Northampton County headed in the right direction?
ReplyDeleteConsolidation of services question..Extend county police services to those muni's that have given up on their own policing. And of course their would be a fee for such services..goes without saying. This might save them from being charged by the state for PSP coverage.
ReplyDeleteIf the 2 million dollar IGT funding for Gracedale
ReplyDeletewere drastically reduced or eliminated, what financial vehicle or remedy would these candidates use to make up the difference?
Should the 2 million dollar IGT funding that keeps Gracedale afloat suddenly be reduced or stop, what would these candidates do to replace or bolster funding?
ReplyDeleteIs it time for a property reassessment?
ReplyDeleteWould you support a charter study ballot question?
Should the work release facility in West Easton be resumed or should it be closed permanently?
Ron Heckman in this new era of the Squad, and general anti boomer sentiment how can you justify continuing to run as a cisgender Caucasian geezer who is more square than a rubiks cube.
ReplyDeleteYes. What exactly does Tara Zirinski do to earn a living. She is a fulltime politician on a very part-time pay. She is everywhere jumping on any cause for votes. Has she accomplished anything in her four year. Frankly, has anyone. It appears McClure is the source o fall that happens. Making one wonder why do we need a county council?
ReplyDeleteZirinski is all I hear about but as you have written she lied to a judge on court and gave up custody of a kid? How an why is she in office.
Also I am told she is running for the state house again next year, is that true? If so why is she wasting our time and money this year running for a county job?
Can a Republican Ticket that supports Steve Lynch be trusted with the responsibilities of county government?
ReplyDeleteCan anyone trust a council ticket headed by disgraced county executive John Brown?
This has nothing to do with Senator Browne.
