NorCo Closed Friday For Juneteenth

Earlier today, President Joe Biden signed a Bill making Juneteenth a federal holiday.  It's a celebration of the end of slavery, and the bill declaring it a national holiday was passed with broad bipartisan support. Fourteen House Republicans voted No, but it appears their objections were based on the name of this holiday, not the substance of the bill. In response to this new federal holiday, Executive Lamont McClure has given workers the day off.

Expect to see most places remain open. This includes stock exchanges, banks and the mail. The USPS  explained it needs time to work the holiday into its schedule.

  1. Time to make 911 a national holiday . All Americans were affected on this date in 2001.

    1. 911 were a coordinated attack by foreign Islamic extremist. Slavery was a coordinated condition created by your ancestors. Learn the difference.

  2. Why don't we just make everyday a national holiday, that way we cannot be accused of discriminating or pandering.

  3. For federal employees, this is a 44th paid day off each year. You want more government, you got it. But first, a little R&R. And so with the county. Looking forward to the next post begging for more government.

  9. 8:42 am: I believe the reason for not having Election Day as a holiday is because that would give you three federal holidays in one month. Besides, it doesn’t need to be a holiday — polls are open many hours and mail-in-voting will become the norm — because those who believe it important will exercise their civic duty.

"Most federal employees earn 13 days of annual leave each leave year if they have less than three years of service, 20 days if they have three years but less than 15 years of service, and 26 days if they have 15 years or more of service."
"Full-time federal employees can earn up to 104 hours (13 days) of sick leave per year and are entitled to use such leave for four primary reasons: (1) personal medical needs, (2) care of a family member, (3) death of a family member, and (4) adoption of a child"

  11. Why not require county employees to spend this new holiday by attending seminars related to Black Lives Matter,

Gee if the cops showed up and learned something then BLM would not have to work so hard.

  13. 7:34 Here is a novel idea. Are you ready? Maybe if the the people that are crying racism and mistreatment from the police and / or from others wouldn't cover up and lie all the time, maybe you would be treated accordingly and with respect. It starts at home. Be respectful and act civilized you will be treated accordingly. It works, try it.

  14. 7:34 - You do understand BLM is anti American and racist correct? It's not the group you think it is or once was.

" Officers expect and demand compliance even when they lack legal authority. They
are inclined to interpret the exercise of free-speech rights as unlawful disobedience, innocent
movements as physical threats, indications of mental or physical illness as belligerence. Police
supervisors and leadership do too little to ensure that officers act in accordance with law and
policy, and rarely respond meaningfully to civilian complaints of officer misconduct."
Seems the police are in the wrong not the people.
Sadly the thugs in the police force are slow to learn.

"BLM is anti American and racist correct?"
perhaps but I have not seen the clip of BLM protestors beating the cops with the American flag.
Curious how the Blue lives matter folks are so quiet about that happening,
Maybe pigment had something to do with it?

  17. 10:02 If the 1/6 insurrection taught us anything it's that blue lives only matter when they're subjugating Black people.

  18. What blue lives were lost as a direct result of 1/6?

  20. I am all for allowing peaceful protests but to put it bluntly as soon as their is damage, stealing, looting, or any other illegal activities associated with eh protest; those doing the protest should be sorted out, arrested, and treated as domestics terrorists' and have equal treatment as those that got put in Guantanamo. Any one or organization that funds those people should also be considered a terrorist organization and dealt with having all their money and property seized. There are so many idiots on both sides crying and complaining that the insurrectionists, the BLM groups, the Floyd protestors were the ones with the problem while saying their group was personally fine. Screw-em-all. They are just scum backs that I personally feel shooting as they do something like that (Violent, destructive, or illegal)is the most appropriate reaction however to be be more PC let's just treat them like the terrorists' they are.
