Despite Pledge West Easton Constable Tricia Mezzacappa Appeals Guilty Verdict in False Reports Case

In 2014, West Easton Constable Tricia Mezzacappa was ordered to pay $67,000 in damages to me for some outrageous lies she repeated at various locations, including a local radio station. She's an adjudicated liar.  Instead of learning her lesson, she's progressed from defamation to reporting nonexistent crimes. Last week, a jury found her guilty of false reports to the Pennsylvania State Police when she attempted to frame an innocent black man in 2019 with pointing a gun at her head. On her Facebook page and in statements to Lehigh Valley Live after the verdict, she vowed there'd be no appeal.

She just appealed.

On Thursday, she asked Judge Stephen Baratta to "vacate or reverse" the verdict. Maybe she does not consider that an appeal

She claims her right to counsel was violated even though she has bragged on numerous occasions that she is at her best when she represents herself.

After seeking numerous continuances and skipping out on bail, she argues she was denied her right to a speedy trial.

She asserts her crime was victimless, even though her lie took numerous troopers off the highways for hours. The entire state was a victim, which is why the caption against her is Commonwealth v.Tricia Mezzacappa.

She claims several jurors tried to talk to her about her case in the rotunda on March 9. There is constant video of the rotunda, which I'm certain will show that, once again, she is lying. She continues to dig a hole for herself.

She argues the jury foreperson was sleeping during closing arguments. Unless she made an objection to the court at the time, she has waived the right to complain now.

She's upset that the jury took such little time to reach a verdict. She asserts, with no evidence at all to support her wild claim, that "outside influence affected the jury."

She states she was denied the time to subpoena documents or witnesses. She had well over a year to do so.

She complains that "nonpublic information" was leaked. Although this is untrue, it has noting to do with the facts of the case.

She finally asserts that her former lawyer, prominent criminal defense lawyer John Waldron, refused to refund whatever she paid him or find her another lawyer. He  got out of the case, and with her consent, because she refused to heed his advice. In fact, she told LehighValleyLive she regretted her refusal to listen.

This appeal demonstrates that whatever planet she's on, it's not Earth.

  1. Does the judge have to accept the appeal or can he/she deny her request?

  2. Frivolous, just like everything she does in life.

  3. In fairness, this is technically not an appeal to a higher court. It is an appeal to the court to reverse the jury verdict.

"Does the judge have to accept the appeal or can he/she deny her request?"

She has the right to file the motion she did,and Judge Baratta will undoubtedly give it the consideration it deserves. The courts have been very fair to her. Here obvious lack of remorse, however, is doing her no good.

  5. She's a dumpster fire in a train wreck. All of her problems self-inflicted trying to ruin the lives of people she had a beef with. Her psychological evaluation will be a hoot!

  7. She's a joke! Hopefully you're reading and we know you are because you're always lurking. Stay mad. You don't stand a chance in hell of a reversal. Save your last couple bits of money. Get a prescription and go lick your wounds somewhere outside of Northampton County.

  8. Excellent summary of her frivolous appeal, Bernie. Looking at the comments above, I see another poster posted the same assessment of her screed. It should be amusing to see the court's response. Such a waste of taxpayer resources. Does this mean she didn't ask for her nursing license to be revoked, and she cares about this being on her record? Such a piece of work.

  9. $67K? Nothing compared to the $5 Million WAEB had to pay out for allowing accused child abuser Bobby Gunther Walsh lie on the air.

  10. I still want to know (according to her Facebook rant) who the expert witness was who testified at her trial. She writes that he usually testifies at murder trials and other violent felony cases.

Who was it and why was he called to testify, or is this another one of her lies? Enquiring minds...

  11. I'd like to see her get a full year of probation. I'll take the Under on the bet of a week for her violate it and then it's off to the county lock-up for the remainder of her sentence. Her flying monkeys can be sent to a local animal rescue where they can be trained to pick up stray dogs. Win-Win.

  12. The expert who testified did so for the Commonwealth and was a forensics expert who concluded her gun had not been recently fired.

  13. "I'd like to see her get a full year of probation."

Actually, she could get 6-12 months in jail, and is bucking for it. This is a minor offense that usually involves probation and she has no record beyond summaries. Moreover, she is mentally ill.

On the other hand, she (1) has displayed no remorse; (2) has made outlandish claims concerning the jury; (3) insisted on a jury trial despite her obvious guilt; (4) has suggested on Facebook that state troopers have it in for her bc she is a constable; (5) continues to engage in the same dishonest behavior that got her in trouble to begin with: and (6) has a propensity to use the language of violence.

  14. Please tell me this nut job is no longer allowed to carry a gun. Is she really still a constable? If so how is that possible when it is clear this woman has mental problems.

  15. Oh no. No. Actually nutbag bought more weapons. Letters need to go to the courthouse

    1. Ah jeez! Another good citizen with a gun. Please tell me that she doesn't have a military assault rifle. Does she automatically lose her gun(s) now that she has a conviction?
