I'd say snow removal is pretty good in Nazareth. I walked (did not drive) outside yesterday, and it appears that roads are clear. I've seen some pictures on Facebook from people in Allentown and Easton who were still waiting early this morning for the overworked plow trucks. How about you?

Roads are clear up here in East Penn Township, Carbon County ... Our Roadmaster did an excellent job of getting our Trucks out early and made repeated trips periodically throughout the storm ... Now admittedly we don't don't have many bottlenecks which slow down and impede our crews advancement.
ReplyDeleteThe Township did delay its Board meeting from February 1 to February 4 .. If there are any complaints as one of the Supervisors on the Board I will hear them.
Hats off to the "road crews" in Lower Nazareth Twsp. I spoke personally to a few snow plowers and told them how much their efforts are appreciated and congratulated them for a job well done. They told me they were working 20 out of the last 28 hours and they looked it. Nothing like dedicated employees striving to satisfy. Good Job Lower Nazareth Road Crew.
ReplyDeleteForks did a super job on most roads even on my dead end street that requires a smaller truck.
ReplyDeleteIt did struggle more than usual to keep up as it just would not stop snowing and drifting here. We have off street parking so they don't have to struggle around cars. Much harder in cities. Have lived here 5 years and they are always quick with preparation of streets for winter conditions. If folks get driveway open they can get out on our street.
It's time to have discussions regarding local taxpayer dollars spent on snow removal and grass cutting. It's time to outsource as it will save taxpayer dollars. Region wide, what do you think the total of overtime was shelled out? Private citizens were plowing & blowing in my neighborhood and will continue during every snowstorm.
ReplyDeleteOutsource snow removal? Do you realize the amount of money private contractors charge per foot of snow? There aren't enough guys nor equipment to outsource all of the snow removal in a municipality.
DeleteAllentown is the worst, but I don't blame the city. It seems that the city subsidizes car owners in Allentown by providing them a place to park on the street. Why? Why should any city allow you to park on a snow emergency route and then have the nerve to claim it as your own? 7th Street is an example of what happens when there is no consequences for illegal parking during a snow emergency. Today, Thursday, it's one moving lane, cars parked diagonally on both sides so no plow could widen the street access. Why don't people get tickets for this? If you did this in Emmaus or Northampton you'd get ticketed and towed. No enforcement for fear of an incident? To begin with, city residents should be required to buy a city parking permit. They should also have a place to put their car that is not on the street. Some folks have 3 or 4 vehicles and they feel it's ok to just park them on the city streets. If you can afford to have a car then you can afford to rent a parking space if you live on a snow emergency route. If you can't afford a parking space then you can't afford to have a car. Stop making the rest of Allentown pay for street space for your car.

ReplyDeleteI live in Allentown and my street still hasn't been plowed.
ReplyDelete325 the City of Bethlehem has Allentown beat by far as a matter of fact I dont yhink the city owns a plow nor do the operators know what to do with them it is now fridaqy and we only have path down the middle of our street maybe we need to stop paying taxes since we not getting what we pay for what do you think Mayor Donchez...I think it is long over due we need change!!!!!
ReplyDeleteI work for the city. Three plows went down and had to be taken for repairs when the snow started. They should have been attended to in the summer or fall. That takes planning something Donchez knows nothing about. He knows how to raise your taxes 5% and you get nothing for it. We hear Willie boy is a lock for Mayor a deal that was made 4 years ago so expect more of the same!!!!!
ReplyDeleteI live in Allentown and my street still has not seen one plow or salt truck. Is anybody running the City?..
ReplyDeleteI live in Allentown and it’s Feb 7th and a plow truck finally came down my street.
