Covid's ugly grip on Northampton County remains very strong. Executive Lamont McClure notes that the drive-thru testing site has a current positivity rate of 18%, and the graph you see above shows something else as well - deaths.
On December 22, the county added 24 more deaths to its growing tally. The death toll now stands at 381.
If you think the only way you can die is if you have some pre-existing condition, think again.
I know a local coach who is extremely fit, a bit lean and middle aged. He contracted Covid-19, and was hospitalized with pneumonia. He is out now, but is still weak and tired. Until vaccines are available, it really is important to follow CDC guidelines regarding masking and social distance.
I suspect, not being an expert in anything , the rate of COVID is higher among people that don’t drive vehicles. As we see the rate in Northampton Country rise from 16% to now 18% after Thanksgiving. Is this correct Bernie?
ReplyDeleteThere are definitely certain folks more at risk than others who should ABSOLUTELY be taking every precaution they can.
ReplyDeleteEveryone else should be concerned for those individuals since there is a good chance they have parents, friends and relatives that fit that group. Even if you don't just be a good human being and do your best to avoid crowds and gatherings, wash hands, etc.
Probably the most sinister aspect of COVID is that it affects people in different ways. Folks have actually had it and showed no symptoms whatsoever. Some get it and its nothing more that feeling crummy for a few days. This is a major reason so many people seem to want to downplay what it is and what it can do.
I personally know a guy in his mid 30's that was healthy as a horse, but spent over 3 weeks in a hospital bed. I know someone who's 20 something niece was hospitalized and had to be resuscitated 6 times.
This isn't a joke or anything to scoff at. I recognize the odds are very small, but in a way your playing a game of Russian Roulette when you go out.
Anon 10:51 my heart is your statement. You’re correct.
ReplyDeleteAgain , I post for third time. Antibody test should be done on 1st. Responders. The need for manpower in serving areas will require. Crews to be maned by “who ever is capable” to get on that truck. NorCo represents this county . They should identify tho use people in data base . We are at rush for a change in how this Covid works . The county coordinator should now be plugging in this data.
