NorCo Statistically Turned "Yellow" on Tuesday

Governor Tom Wolf permitted Northampton County to enter the "yellow" zone on June 5, even though his supposed data-driven approach clearly showed it should still be in the red. Yesterday, Northampton County statistically turned yellow. Numbers cruncher Steve Thode confirms that only 142 new cases of Covid-19 have been reported over the past 14 days. He adds that Lehigh County is flirting with the magic number, but is not quite there.

Of the 249 deaths in Northampton County, 78.7% have been nursing home residents.

  1. This is great news! I hope people continue to stay vigilant and safe though. We don't want a situation like Arizona, Florida, Oklahoma, etc. But I think Governor Wolf has handled this well so far and so I have faith.

  3. And if Gov. Wolf had stood by the statistics and not moved NorCo to yellow, you would've complained then, too.

perhaps we'd just like him to admit he was working off a flawed statistical model?

Yes good news, but according to worldometer, PA still has 3 1/2 times the number of deaths on a per capita basis and still has a higher seven day average of deaths (despite only 60% of the population) than does Florida.

Wolf "handling this well" has dug such a big hole by mismanaging the nursing homes that it's hard to see Florida ever catching up, no matter how many "surging" headlines are written about it.

But at least the liquor stores were closed and pleasure driving was banned. Just think how many nursing home deaths there would have been otherwise.
