An Ugly Man

Yes, he is vilified by the press. Without question, he is subject to partisan attacks. But Donald Trump is a disgrace, not just to his office, but humanity. In one of his latest tweetstorms, he insinuated that one of his media critics, Joe Scarborough, had a female staffer murdered twenty years ago. The real victim of this slur, the husband of this woman, said Trump had "taken something that does not belong to him - the memory of my dead wife - and perverted it ...." The widower's request to be left alone meant nothing to Trump, who doubled down.

Had I written something like that, I'd be rightly torn to shreds as a disreputable blogger. But this lunacy did not come from some nutty blogger, but the President of the United States.

"At long last, have you left no sense of decency?" Joseph Welch asked Senator Joe McCarthy, which ended that witch hunter's career. The same question has been asked of Trump several times.

Trmup has answered. He has no decency.

  4. With this, we move on to the next issue. At no time, have I heard or read anything out of Trump stating Scarborough murdered anyone.

There was an incident years ago in which a female aide to Biden was found dead in Biden’s office. The cause of her death remains unsolved. However, shortly after the incident, Scarborough himself, brought it up as light comedy on a nationally syndicated radio/tv show.

Over the years, this matter was discussed frequently by many people. There is still a desire of behalf of many to investigate what actually happened, who was present, and who could have been responsible. There is a mystery hanging over Biden’s head. Trump didn’t create it, put it out there. It’s been an ongoing mystery that even Biden needs finalized.

I don’t watch Scarborough on television, but have seen many clips of Scarborough trashing Trump with various charges and murderous innuendo. That’s what many in the left-leaning media does all day long.

As we have seen, Trump is not a politically correct opponent. He lashes back at those who he believes mistreat him. That’s been his entire life. It’s genuine. Millions, including me, believe that’s the appropriate way to respond. Never back down to those people and organizations who attempt to bully you, or your family.

The reality is, as evidenced during yesterday’s White House Press Meeting, and now here, various reporters and commentators are actually serving to increase attention to the incident !

Again, nothing new here. Trump just “throws back what’s tossed at him.” If anyone attempts to slur Trump with assumptions and innuendo, Trump returns all the same ‘courtesy’ in defense.

    Turnabout IS fair play.

  5. There is no decency anywhere, how about the Russian collusion BS, and multiple false stories based on unnamed sources. The Ukrainian phone call phony whistle-blower. do you believe these were all legitimate or just an attempt damage this president. The media knows many of these stories are phony and they pushed them anyway including Scarborough.

Well, Joe Scarborough did have an intern die unusually in his office and quit politics shortly after. at least the death was real. If something happened like that in Trumps office they would accuse him of murder in a second. Is all this appropriate, no, but I could find lots of real accusations to be made against Democrats and the media will overlook them.

While I doubt it will ever happen, until the media is willing to be objective in there stories this kind of thing is going to escalate. It will get worse and more sensational.

Adam Schiff is at least as despicable in his methods, I suppose you think he is an honorable and decent person.

Trump said day one, that he is not going to let the opposition defame him continuously without responding. He is responding and it may get a lot worse. I am sure many in the media have dirt in their closet. If they can dish it out they should be able to take it.

Why does the media have the illusion that they are exempt from being targets and casualties in this political war. How many of them have been forced out by the media themselves.

If you desire to be in this fight, then expect to be a possible casualty.

If Trump should lose because he fought fire with fire that's Ok and I suspect Trump has the same thinking.

  12. The true dilemma in 2015 was how we could come down to two choices; a divisive Hillary with political skeletons and the unpresidential Trump. Non-presidential won out over years of political corruption.
Four years of working towards defeating Trump, and the best the DNC can come up with is a 40 year insider, with exposed political baggage across many foreign affairs, and has shown obvious signs of a degrading mental health. How can we vote for this guy?

328 million people in this nation, and we narrowed our choices down to these two people.
We deserve what we get. Presidential or not.

I have a feeling though that his most disturbed followers will be haunting our nation for years to come. He won't go quietly in November and may try to destroy what little trust people have in government to save his own skin. He has never cared about democracy or our constitution as he shreds it continually and undermines our institutions that have held for many years. He is the most petty and vile person to ever occupy the office of President and has made the U.S. a laughing stock around the world.

  26. Reading the comments that support Trump, in general, and, more specifically, as it relates to his conspiracy theory mumblings about Scarborough, is truly depressing and frightening. First, the comment(6:06) that brought Joe Biden into the "discussion" was DEAD wrong (pun intended)....that did not happen. The "person" who made that comment then goes onto say that Scarborough went on radio and made light comedy of the incident (the incident that did not happen involving Biden)...Another "contributor" said (6:26) that they "recall" Scarborough going on the Imus show to discuss the rape and murder of an intern. Again, that never happened. Sadly, it is clear that we have a lot of people in this country, and locally, who are exceedingly STUPID; and, believe any garbage that they see or hear (Lord knows they do not/cannot actually read) on tv/radio/websites that have no credibility other than as purveyors of bogus conspiracy theories. What is even more depressing is the level of enmity for those who point out the clear fact that Trump is an inveterate liar who lacks either the moral decency or decorum to be "President". As a native New Yorker, i have experienced some prejudice from LV locals who despise what is viewed as the traditional NYer....Yet they support the obnoxious, lunatic ravings of a guy that every NYer can spot as a bullshit artist. Even if Trump loses (again) in November, which i pray for everyday, this country is doomed when we have a percentage of the citizenry that could support and defend a lifelong liar/cheater who obviously has no clue about what his "job" requires and whose only interest is continuing to steal and feather his nest. Did any of you ever see Elmer Gantry or A Face in the Crowd? You support a con artist who has no interest in you...he only cares about himself and perhaps Ivanka.

Radical political ideologues have a history of shouting down others, sometimes lying, and even committing violence against their foes. Many Americans are wise to that strategy these days. They’re not standing for it.

    The NYT:
Ms. McEnany also accused Mr. Scarborough of having “joked about killing an intern” during an appearance years ago on Don Imus’s radio show in 2003. (Ms. Klausutis was not an intern, nor was she a marathon runner.) In fact, it was Mr. Imus who made a joke about having sex with an intern and killing her. Mr. Scarborough did not engage on the subject, but laughed and said, “Exactly. What are you going to do?”

Ms. Brzezinski, responding on Twitter, said that Ms. McEnany was “lying” about the nature of the 2003 clip, and that Mr. Scarborough “was embarrassed” by Mr. Imus’s “callous joke” and was trying to move the conversation along.

tRUMP counterpunches? He just reacts to Facts and Truth like holy water thrown on a vampire. Froths and squirms which in turn makes all his cult minions to lose their minds that the master is displeased. An Orange faced amoral Carney Huckster who connects with his followers with hate or a pretend patriotism that the draft dodger shows by humping the flag like he's humping america (or any porn star that happens to be looking for a job).

Now, rumors and innuendo are flowing in Joe's direction. But, Joe and his viewers can't take it. No big deal.

The Biden camp wants to use this story as a means to attack Trump. Trump CAN take it, and will prevail. Unless, of course, we are hit with voting irregularities throughout the nation. 45. Trump drives me crazy with all the tweeting and the idiotic things he says. Biden clearly has cognitive decline. These are the two choices, neither good. It depressing. I more closely align with Trumps policies as a opposed to Bidens. I was hoping once elected that Trump would be more presidential, but it didn't happen. I feel Biden will allow the AOC far left to take over his administration and implement far left policies that will be terrible for the country. Obama/Biden left us with a middle east that was on fire with ISIS and Syria, and NK shooting missiles over the Sea of Japan. Trump has managed to totally piss off Europe and been an embarrassment conducting himself with our European allies. Clearly, under Obama/Biden, the FBI did things they shouldn't have done, it was a few people at the top, but the agency has been tarnished terribly. I have read IG Horowitz's reports, and they aren't pretty, (especially the one on McCabe). Going strictly by legacy, Obama/Biden should be rejected because of all this that they allowed to happen, but because we are talking about Trump here, many will bite the bullet and pull the lever for Biden. I don't blame them I guess, Trump is his own worse enemy because of the thin skin and that dumb twitter.
It's a tough call, perhaps I'll just write in someone, at least i'll be able to sleep at night LOL.

  58. Sanders scared the hell out of me, Biden while not exactly the strongest candidate, at the very least represents something a bit more traditional in terms of leadership.

The Clinton/Trump choice in 2016 was awful and Trump winning wasn't a complete surprise because many were simply fed up with career politicians and wanted to try something new and different. Trump in 2020 is no longer "new", but granted he's different. 2016 was an experiment for some, sorta like giving pineapple on pizza a shot for the first time. Some people like it and get it again while others tend to go back to pepperoni the next time.

This will be a TOUGH pill for many of the ride or die Trump supporters in this country and this comment section, but he has at best about a 1 in 5 chance of getting another 4 years. While some will cheer on, or make excuses or just wince/cringe then look the other way over his "Non-Presidential" behavior and actions these past 3.5 years, he simply has not done enough to win over city and especially suburban college educated voters in the country.

Forget the popular vote, between California, New York/New England and Illinois the deck is stacked against him and in the end its meaningless anyways. The issue is Trump's path to 270 electoral votes. In 2016 he landed 306 by flipping FL (29 electoral votes), PA (20), OH (18), MI (16), & WI (10) from their 2012 results. Florida was close, a little over 100,000 voters preferred Trump which is about a 1% difference in statewide votes. PA, MI and WI were under 1%. PA = 44,000 votes, MI = 11,000 votes and WI = 23,000 votes. Ohio went big for Trump (+400,000) and for argument purposes we can assume that will stay "R" for 2020. If only PA and MI flip back to D its 270 and zero margin for error the rest of the way. If PA, MI and WI all flip he's at 260 and needs some combination of CO, NM, NV and NH to go his way. IF he loses FL or God forbid OH somehow, he is basically toast.

None of the above takes into consideration the chance of AZ (11), GA (16), NC (15) or TX (38) flipping to "D" any of which is unlikely, but voter trends and demographics in those states are evolving in the larger metro areas of those states.

Other headwinds for Trump is the traditional anti incumbent voting trends of independent voters, a more motivated Dem base versus 2016, plus the skew of 4 years of elderly 2016 voters (+9 R) not returning in 2020 versus young first time voters (+30 D).

In the end I really don't care who wins, simply because people completely over estimate and care far too much about national level politics. The hypocrisy displayed by each party is beyond parody. The fact that people felt the need to slap a "W" or "Bush or an "O" or "Hope" bumper sticker with Obama's face on their car back in the day always amused me. Now people wear hats and fly flags on their trucks or front porches?!?!? Why?

Obama drew a line in the sand and did nothing about it. Trump draws no lines but acted against Iran in limited force. What would you have done. Trump is attempting to bring manufacturing back to the States. Would you have tried or given up like Obama. 67. This is a time I agree with you. I question how anyone with values condones the lies and name calling of this dictator in the White house. Today the "hoax" has taken over 100,000 lives.
When will the real republicans come forth and speak up? Party before country?

  68. A great President you hate. So like you always do with those you hate you will relentlessly attack while waving the flag of your "truth". So pathetic. People are on to you.

  69. @8:38 "When Trump leaves office, he will not be making millions on the talk tour as Obama or the Clinton's continue to do."

Of course not, it's tough to make money from a jail cell, or more likely a remote dacha in Russia avoiding extradition orders.

Kidding of course. Trump will most likely attempt to develop his own "Info-tainment" network as a means to leverage his brand and keep a foot in the spot light and still be an influencer. Based on his track record of other business endeavors it probably has a 50/50 shot of success, but what will ultimately destroy him is when real Republicans realize he's no longer in office and serves them no purpose. The political cost of turning their backs on him, will no longer out weigh the benefits of sticking with him and they will leave him in droves.

  70. The Pennsylvania House of Representative and its Republican party are a disgraceful, mean spirited group of heartless human beings for not notifying the entire house of an infected member! Google: Brian Sims and watch his reaction. Brought tears to my eyes...

  71. 8:12- no one expects Trump to be in office forever. But, a second term for Trump is absolutely justified. At this moment, 5 months from the election, Trump is clearly the best pick between Trump or Biden.

Simply not liking a candidate's personality is weak justification for picking someone else. Unless, of course, you are a rigid political ideologue who can't see beyond your political party label.

Probably, better to just get a Party Logo tattoo on you forehead. Now, that's a statement!

  72. Not to stoke the flames of the marching torch bearers so fond of trolling in and out of here but what is going on is completely insane ...

Why on earth would you still vote for someone who is recommending his unroyal subjects inject themselves with disinfectant, flout the CDC, stop wearing masks, take hydroxychloroquine, etc., etc., and let’s not forget, “It’s all a hoax, folks!”

I would laugh but it’s no joke when statements are made that actually cause death. The irony is the idiots who voted this monster in are now allowing themselves to become infected by listening to this nut who is instructing them to not practicing the common sense the sensible ones among us have been touting.

Even further proof positive of what an idiot he is, increases in infection rates on the current map are occurring in primarily red and swing states ... He’s actually screwing himself by killing off his own people with all his misguided tweets and dog whistle statements, effectively eating his own!

Happy Memorial Day, because at this rate, he’s effectively setting himself up for a demoralizing defeat. But hey, go ahead and continue supporting him because doing so will only increase your chances that this could very well be your last Memorial Day as you blithely advance your own extinction.

  73. When trump is out of office he will be irrelevant. He has burned every bridge he ever crossed. I think you will see a repeat of the 90s for our dear leader. Only now he has a legion of followers that will donate to his go fund me so he doesn't have to slum it in the suburbs.

  74. There is going to be a point later this summer that will be very interesting to watch. I know people love to dismiss polls and lean all over 2016 as an example. That said all politicians and political parties utilize polls and still rely on them.

Barring an unprecedented economic turnaround over the next 90 days, and I mean rocketship style recovery, incumbent Republicans are going to be looking at regular and continuously bleak poll numbers. The Trump base is only 40-45%, that # has not moved in over 3 years. It hasn't shrunk, but it hasn't grown either. Senators and HoR's in competitive districts are going to be faced with some difficult self preservation decisions.

  75. I think incumbents are all in trouble

  76. And trump has a problem with the Atlantic magazine.
    https://www.theatlantic.com/ideas/archive/2020/05/donald-trump-the-most-unmanly-president/612031/
"Leave aside for the moment that the working-class white men in the president’s base don’t seem to care that Trump had an affair with a porn star while his wife was home with a new baby, something for which many of them would probably beat their own brother-in-law senseless if he did it to their sister. Trump’s voters, male and female, have already decided to excuse this and other sordid episodes."
    and
" This presidency is defined not by Ed Harris’s grim intonation in Apollo 13 that “failure is not an option,” but by one of the most shameful utterances of a chief executive in modern American history: “I take no responsibility at all.”

  77. So Anonymous said Trump had an affair with a porn star, well that was as a private citizen #1.The 2 biggest whores in the White House were Demorats,Kennedy and Clinton! Clinton screwed his way from Arkansas to Washington and to epstein's island.he was having an affair with Epstein's girlfriend! She was even invited to his Daughter's wedding, imagine that! get ready demorats 4 more years coming! Say what you want about Trump, the Man gets results! That's what matter's the most!

    ReplyDelete
  78. As I recall neither Kennedy nor Clinton used campaign funds illegally to keep their mistresses quiet. But you are right about one thing, the man does get results, about 110,000 dead and counting and the largest percentage of unemployed in U.S. history.
