Please note that this data comes from the Northampton County Coroner’s office and only reflects the number of people who have died of COVID-19 within the county’s borders as of April 6. It does not reflect those Northampton County residents who died of the virus in another county. One of the thirteen deaths recorded in the county was a resident of New Jersey.
We are providing the following information to give our residents the maximum amount of information permitted by law and in keeping with sound epidemiological standards.
Municipalities in which the decedents lived:
Forks Twp. (1)
Lower Nazareth Twp. (1)
Bangor Boro (1)
Palmer Twp. (3)
Upper Nazareth Twp. (1)
Williams Twp. (1)
Nazareth Boro (1)
Bethlehem Twp (3)
Phillipsburg, NJ (1)
The average age of the Deceased: 80.8 years.
The average gender of the Deceased: 44% male, 54% female
Please note—the 13 unfortunate victims of Covid-19 do not provide enough data points for a statistically significant sample. Younger people remain at significant and serious risk, and should stay-at-home. This information is being provided as they are the facts as they exist on the ground as of today. These profound losses to our community do not provide us with enough scientific evidence to draw any conclusions.
The average gender of the Deceased: 44% male, 54% female
ReplyDeleteHuh? "Average gender?"
i prefer to think i am "above averaged" gender
ReplyDeleteWhile a small sample, this seems to indicate trans persons are immune. We need to see the good news, and this is good news.
ReplyDeleteI’d like more observers to see a “straight-up” comparison of COVID-19 numbers with numbers from other time periods involving various common illnesses.
ReplyDeleteWhat is going here, and at what significance, to similar episodes throughout previous years?
I understand the COVID-19 spread is rapid but there are other aspects to consider.
Now, don’t ask me to go to ABC News for truth!
If it’s 44% male and 54% female, by my math there seems to be 2% unaccounted for...lol
ReplyDeleteLamont McClure fails at math, lol.
ReplyDelete"I’d like more observers to see a “straight-up” comparison of COVID-19 numbers with numbers from other time periods involving various common illnesses."
ReplyDeleteEven Donald Trump has stopped downplaying the severity of Covid-19. It is time you stop doing so as well. It is ten times more lethal than these common flus. On the other hand, I would agree we have completely over-reacted to this pandemic. Washing hands and social distances make sense. If a "non-life-saving" business can be run with people who can keep a social distance from each other, that business should be permitted to operate.
OK, I’ll move along. By the way, as more cases are discovered, the MORTALITY RATE attributed to this virus has dropped rapidly, below the 10X description. Carry 0n.

Doesn't sound like that's actually your philosophy.

Yes, now he just blames everyone else for the severity of the problem.
As for testing to determine mortality, it will be a long time before we get more accuracy. Government wants to review deaths and test blood samples if still available, but tests are still in short supply for the living.
ReplyDeleteThank you for publishing this information free of charge!
ReplyDeleteRegarding your statistics, you mention that the coroner's numbers "only reflect the number of people who have died of COVID-19 within the county’s borders".
ReplyDeleteIs the state using the coroner's numbers when it reports total deaths in Northampton, or is the state compiling figures from where people are actually from?
I guess the question is could the Lehigh and Northampton case/death numbers be getting inflated because people are being brought to hospitals in Lehigh and Northampton County?
For instance, if someone in NY drives to St. Luke's in Bethlehem Township, gets tested for the virus when he arrives, and then dies at the hospital; is he a Northampton/PA case/death, or is he a NY case/death?
I'm not sure we can make informed decisions without knowing how the state is compiling the numbers.
It is ten times more lethal than these common flus."
ReplyDeletethat might prove to be an overstatement, since it appears a significant percentage are mild enough to be unreported. moreover, from december through march pneumonia deaths were at a ten year low. i suspect any respiratory-related death is being labelled as covid, at least until the dust clears. hence the need for widespread testing
"I guess the question is could the Lehigh and Northampton case/death numbers be getting inflated because people are being brought to hospitals in Lehigh and Northampton County?"
ReplyDeleteexcellent point. i am told anecdotally that many of the cases showing up in valley ER'S are from out of state.
If you have that bit of information, how about the "Race"? Yunno, average race, too funny.
ReplyDelete"that might ..."
ReplyDeleteI am certainly not interested in the speculation of some anonymous person who provides no links to his scientific conclusions. Nor should anyone else be. In fact, your uninformed statement is irresponsible. It is just as dangerous to downplay this virus as it is to be Chicken Little.
The more tests done the higher the count...it’s going to show that the virus is already there...now the ability to minimize the severity or death that will occur
ReplyDeleteSmiling, one term, war executive....like his counterpart
ReplyDelete"I am certainly not interested in the speculation of some anonymous person who provides no links to his scientific conclusions."
ReplyDeletefair enough. but... you yourself referred to this flu as 10x more lethal than the common flu...without citation. and no source i've read, even the deeply flawed model out of Washington state, upon which this shutdown is based, suggests a death rate like that.
last year the flue killed about 80k. you calling for 800k deaths? THAT, my friend, is alarmist and irresponsible
Both BO and McClueless flunk math
ReplyDeleteAnnounced TODAY, the International Health statistical base being used by Fauci and Birx has LOWERED its guesstimate of total number of virus deaths in America down to about 60,000. That number matches the 2017-2018 seasonal flu total.
ReplyDeleteSounds encouraging at one level, anyway.
The statistical model they used from Washington state was flawed. What bothers me deeply is why doesn't the CDC have their own modeling?
