An Open Letter to Governor Tom Wolf From One of His Neighbors

Governor Tom Wolf
While I only live 35 minutes from you I feel a world away. You asked us to help you, we did. You asked us to close our business, we did. You asked us to stay home, we did. You asked us to continue to stay at home, we are. So here I am, at home, waiting. You told us don’t worry unemployment will come, it hasn’t. You told us don’t worry grants are coming, they haven’t. You told us don’t worry forgivable loans are coming, they haven’t. You told us don’t worry stimulus money is coming, it hasn’t. So here I am, at home waiting. I wait alongside most of my fellow small business owners, those self-employed and independent contractors. A massive number of PA residents who are waiting for the Unemployment portal to open for us, waiting for loan approvals, waiting for stimulus checks. All of these programs, we are at the back of the line for. So here we wait. While bills come daily, savings continuously dwindling and still doing our part. It is time you do yours. It is an inconceivable expectation to close unessential business halting all income and expect us to survive. We need to pay our bills and put food on the table. Without immediate action, you are leaving us no options. How are we to survive? We deserve an answer. Coming soon is no longer acceptable!

Feel free to share as I hope this reaches the Governor.

  4. Governor Wolf has allowed himself to be swallowed-up in a POLITICAL VORTEX that is doing great harm to our nation’s families as it sweeps across our lands.

  5. Just open up a stadium for a day for a rally where those who are opposed to social distancing and want everything reopened immediately can gather. They shout their views unmasked, pass out petitions, and shake bare hands for a job well done.

The rest of us will wait 2 weeks to see if they are correct.

  6. 7:22- I am in the ‘High Risk’ group. But, only due to age (68). In Pennsylvania, like similar citizens of other states, it’s likely I will be limited like this for months.” The 2-more weeks idea is tolerable. Sometime after that, I will become a law-breaker.

  7. With the curve flattening and a widely available vaccine about a year and half away, the "Safety First" crowd is actually going to have to start thinking soon.

And what happens if the vaccine turns out to be no more effective than your run-of-the-mill influenza vaccine?

    Shutdown fo' evah!

  8. 7:22--I wonder how much you are losing because of wolfs policies--

  9. The vaccine CAN’T be more effective than our annual Flu shot. Your annual Flu shot formula is based on a ‘best guess’ recipe. The reason? These things mutate into something different as time goes on. Generally, the Flu shot has a 50/50 chance of success. The COVID-19 vaccine could well fall to what would then be named COVID-20.

Our biggest fear should be about forced vaccinations before being permitted to leave our homes. Taking that further, with reasonable evidence to support at some level, is forced placement of tracking chips on, or IN, your body.

Some of those crazy Conspiracy Theorists could, repeat, COULD be proven right. Sure hope not!

  11. Nobody likes this situation, but we've never been here before. Our paperwork nightmare for safety nets has been overwhelmed by it. My hope is that of all the PA govt workers that have been laid off are not from the unemployment office! If you tune in nationally, everything is being processed in spectacular fashion, best ever, other countries are looking at us with envy at our great testing! What bullshit. There's a realistic graph that Morgan Stanley has created that I'll post here today. Give it a look if you want a dose of what events may actually look like IF we're all sensible.

  12. "and the lehigh case load went up yesterday.
The curve is not flattening there."

Incorrect. For four straight days in LC, the number of new cases in LC dropped. YESTERDay, it was 56. You can see this on the ordinal scale. Do not spread disinformation, please. https://pennstate.maps.arcgis.com/apps/opsdashboard/index.html#/9773ab96534c44b0b35e4d7aa8efc1cd

  13. Huntress, Wolf adopted the most restrictive business shutdown in the country with absolutely no consideration for the millions he was hurting, or preparation to handle the demand for unemployment and other benefits. Even now, it is a mess.

    apr 11 58 cases
    apr 12 64 cases
    apr 13 63 cases
    apr 14 56 cases

    from the site you mention.
have not seen today apr 15 numbers yet.
Course you have to know if numbers of tests were even across those days.

  15. number of tests dropped in Lehigh so betting the farm on a flattening the curve is problematic.
test numbers are on the page you cited.

    ReplyDelete
  16. Look, the test numbers reported are, as it is, NOT INFALLIBLE.

There are several different kinds of tests being given to reveal several different virus “markers.” The tests are being used on a variety of different people, each one with a different level of evidence presentation. Some states (maybe not Pennsylvania) are using older tests, or tests produced in other nations (including China). Those tests are subject to a certain percentage of FALSE Positives, and FALSE Negatives!

  17. Tests are only conducted on those with severe symptoms or who are known to have been exposed.

Betting the farm on a low number of tests being bad news is needlessly goulash, at least using current testing criteria.

But since some are focusing on whether the numbers are going up with a yes/no mentality, my comment wrt to "the curve flattening" referred to just that. The curve is flattening. It doesn't mean the curve is flat...yet.

The main point of my comment in 9:08 remains. Also, 9:57 AM, "case load" typically refers to hospitals or the medical community. Do you have any data?

  18. Bernie, what the fuck is that thing at the top of today's blogg news on your channel? Are you running some sort of freakish porn dating site again for the local circus carnival of PA and its democratical jokes?
