Petty Pelosi

At the conclusion of last night's SOTU speech by Donald Trump, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi ripped up the paper copy provided to her. She called it a "manifesto of mistruths," but that's no excuse for her childish behavior.

Pelosi may have been reacting to an apparent snub by Trump at the beginning of the speech. He handed her and VP Michael Pence copies, but turned around without shaking hands. I would expect that kind of churlish behavior from Trump, but it's unclear to me that he acted intentionally. In fact, I'd say it was simply an oversight because, in addition to Pelosi, he failed to shake hands with his own VP.

She needs to recognize that not all Democrats are from California.

  3. She tore that thing in half like the partially born babies she supports being vivisected and sold off for parts. Hallelujah and past the wine and wafers you prayerful, reflective Catholic saint!

BTW, is there a single prominent D who can find a decent set of dentures that will stay in their faces? Pelosi, Biden, Casey .... wow.

  4. Perhaps POTUS deliberately did not shake hands with VP because he had no intention of shaking hands with the Speaker. Why would he when she was intent on setting things in motion to get rid of him for who knows how long.

  5. I'm telling you, the Democrats are going to give us Trump again, just like they did in 2016. The leadership needs to grow up and start acting like adults. I never saw any of this kind of behavior from Republicans when Obama was giving the state of the union address. They lost the election and Trump is president. Tine for them to grow up, act like adults and beat him in 2020.

  6. Watched it in slow motion, she waited till he turned to the left, it’s possible he never even saw her attempt to shake hands.

  8. Bernie, you are as partisan as those you call down every day for their own partisanship. But that’s, OK. Truly! In America, sports and competition is important and we ALL promote what we agree with.

But, last night was different. Some things must be called out for their awful nature. Pelosi’ s behavior throughout the night should revolt everyone, including Democrats. Her sour behavior during the honor of a dying man was equally reprehensible. So, THAT is the face of the Democrat Party?

Thank you for acknowledging the damage Pelosi has done to your preferred party.

  9. I thought her actions were disgusting- she acted like a child during the entire speech. i.e. the weird eye gestures towards her posse, the "ladies in white" booing, and acting like children. I didn't vote for Trump, but for being under constant attack 24/7, he sure gets things done.

  13. What's with the sour pusses in their white garb? Seems like Democrats in white are not happy that so many people have opportunities for employment. They would rather keep minorities down and stuck in cities full of despair. Sorry but many cities are shit holes and the children are doomed by the educational systems. Where does the money go year after year and the people continue to suffer? Oh, that's right, it only goes into the pockets of Republicans. Is the mess in the Iowa caucuses what we can expect in our elections in Pennsylvania? Maybe we have to go to some of the "primitive" countries to see how we can run an election.

  16. At Trump's next SOTU address in 2021, when he is reelected and if Pelosi is still speaker, Trump should have it printed on carbon fiber tablets. lol

Any who...it was a pretty classless and childlike move on Pelosi part and is going to make some great campaign ads for Trump.

  21. Donald Trump said something last night that may have seemed minor to many but was not lost on millions of people who heard it. I suspect it was central to the anger shown by Nancy Pelosi. If the day ever comes that that Federal law is changed in a way that criminalizes abortion, it will be the spark that sets off a new civil war. Large numbers of Americans will not accept beliefs legally imposed on them by an amoral promiscuous old male President or a church controlled by old men who could not clean up the abuse and perversions generated for decades by their own kind. There is a huge difference between moral advocacy opposing abortion and legal imposition of morality on a massive unbelieving and unaccepting base of of the US population. Trump unnecessarily threatened to cross that line last night and it was duly noted by people who will actively fight back.

    "Fuck you and fuck trump!"

Even if you do not like our current President, why do take such a low road? Dislike, hatred, or disagreement should not be used as an excuse for insolent behavior. What a great example you and Nancy Pelosi have provided of taking the low road. Why do you choose to stoop to this low level? The low road is easy. I may disagree with BO on some issues, but he does call 'em like he sees 'em. Civility.

I'll take 4 more years of this versus the full draining economy of Obama!! Hey Bernie would shake Trisha hand?? SAME deal why shake hands with someone trying to take your job.... And that's even if it was intentionally done or not!! Trump could cure cancer and you would tell him give us our cancer back!! Trump 2020

  28. Pelosi is frustrated. She didn't want impeachment, knowing the math and what happened to Rs following Clinton's. Every time she was critical of impeachment, her left flank went nuclear. Ultimately, the foolhardy, Biden-connected-Eric Ciaramella-whistleblower scheme forced her hand. Impeachment not only failed, but backfired. She's taking little solace from Biden's embarrassing demise, and ultimately tore up words that praised a Tuskegee Airman and praised a service wife. Nancy had a bad night and today won't be any better.

"If the day ever comes that that Federal law is changed in a way that criminalizes abortion, it will be the spark that sets off a new civil war."

The same statement could be made by simply substituting the words "the right to bear arms" for the word "abortion".

    US Constitution/Bill of Rights
    Amendment II
“A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.”
signed and ratified September 17, 1787

    PA Constitution
    Article I- Declaration of Rights
    Section 21
    Right to Bear Arms
“The right of the citizens to bear arms in defense of themselves and the State shall not be questioned.”
    1874 text

Abortion does not appear in either the US or PA Constitution. The "right" was established via a 7-2 SCOTUS ruling on January 22, 1973. In his majority opinion, Blackmun and the SCOTUS attempted to balance a woman’s right of privacy with a state’s interest in regulating abortion. The ruling invoked the right to privacy and due process. (14th amendment) It also involved a viability standard which is much different today than it was in 1973. (Encyclopedia Britannica)

The right to bear arms is more ingrained in the fabric of America and for a much longer time period than abortion.

  31. The evolving science on viability and abortion will never outweigh its usefulness in culling undesirable populations. Tearing up speeches is a relatively minor transgression compared to gleefully accepting money from exterminators with racist, eugenics beginnings. Sadly, I think a lot of the country unites in a sigh of relief that all those black babies never saw the light of day and became an entire generation of agitators.

"The evolving science on viability... "

Planned Parenthood does have "...racist, eugenics beginnings."

Sadly, I think you are quite the racist. There are no "undesirable populations". Life is quite miraculous. Scientifically, the process of fertilization creates a unique human. Once the process of fertilization occurs, that human being continues to grow and develop until death. Natural or otherwise. The being can be nothing but human. Human life. I try not to get lost in the weeds.

  35. @ 1:28 - Below are simply the words he used last night and you can find hundred's more by googling trump lies:

"Thanks to our bold regulatory reduction campaign, the United States has become the Number 1 producer of oil and natural gas in the world, by far," Trump said, according to an excerpt of the speech released in advance.

The facts: Trump is taking undue credit here. The U.S. has been the largest natural gas and oil producer since 2011 and 2014, respectively, according to the U.S. Energy Information Administration, the agency that tracks this information. Trump took office in 2017.

"Since my election, we have created 7 million new jobs, 5 million more than government experts projected during the previous administration," Trump said.

The facts: This number is misleading. Trump is taking credit for months of job gains that occurred during the administration of President Barack Obama. The economy, however, doesn't move that quickly. Since Trump took office, the country has added 6.7 million job in 36 months. He also suggests that this is unprecedented success that no one could have predicted, but it's not: In the 36 months before Trump took office, 8.2 million jobs were created during the Obama administration.

"If we had not reversed the failed economic policies of the previous administration, the world would not now be witnessing this great economic success," Trump said.

The facts: Economists believe the current period of economic growth began during the Obama administration. Some say Trump's tax cuts might have boosted it, but the economy was not on the decline when Trump took office.

"I've also made an ironclad pledge to American families: We will always protect patients with pre-existing conditions," Trump said.

The facts: This is false. We've fact-checked this claim before, because Trump has been saying it for years. But the evidence doesn't back him up: The Trump administration backed a lawsuit claiming that the Affordable Care Act's protections for pre-existing conditions are illegal, and the White House has not proposed alternative legislation that would offer those with pre-existing conditions the same protections that Obamacare offers.

"And I was pleased to announce last year that for the first time in 51 years, the cost of prescription drugs actually went down," Trump said.

The facts: This is false. Prescription drugs costs are on the rise, particularly for name-brand drugs, according to an Associated Press analysis.

"Before I took office, health insurance premiums had more than doubled in just five years. I moved quickly to provide affordable alternatives. Our new plans are up to 60 percent less expensive and better," Trump said.

The facts: This is half-true. Health insurance premiums did, indeed, double in five years, according to a government report, and the plans Trump is talking about can be much, much cheaper. But they are cheap for a reason: They cover significantly less care and come with a slew of risks.

"In sanctuary cities, local officials order police to release dangerous criminal aliens to prey upon the public instead of handing them over to ICE to be safely removed," Trump said.

This is false. "Sanctuary cities" typically refers to cities that do not cooperate with detainer requests from Immigration and Customs Enforcement, which are requests for sheriffs and police officers to detain undocumented immigrants so ICE can arrest them later. But sanctuary cities still enforce their own — and other jurisdictions' — criminal laws, and some police officers say these sanctuary policies actually help them fight crime.

Nice try, it got WORSE when Obama care or the lack there of took over. The President attempted to repair it and the House said bugger off. Who is lying ? hmmm. They bitch about the borders, funny how that all dropped off the radar nearly a year ago when our military started to help the border patrol and the wall is being built. ?? hmmm.... Mortgage interest rates at a all time low and stock market( which creates jobs and business) is at a all time high. Guess the left is scared due to this because Americans do not need to rely on socialistic gov.t to support them. You know, like when America was becoming a word power and the world needed us , the US. Hmmm.... What good have the dems done the last 4 years except to play politics investigating various horse crap in the White House and instead of working for America. Not a damn thing. Until the true , old school democrats take back their party that work for "Working Class Americans ", we and them are screwed. Look how California has turned out. High cost of Living, high taxes, homeless everywhere yet they say its all lies. Take a trip or watch the real videos showing the homeless camps in the cities. Not to mention the criminals have the rights and the victims and citizens no longer do. You know, that little thing called Sanctuary City or State" How is that working for you? hmmm... 42. We can all talk about lies, the death of democracy and lists of things in an attempt to convince people they were better off under Obama. What I, and everyone I ask tell me is their business is booming, wages are going up in a quest to find qualified workers and people have more confidence in the well being of the country.

They also do not have a lingering fear of what new policy is going to drop on them from activist politicians in Washington. Most people just want to be left alone by the government, let them prosper and stop trying to control every aspect of their lives. Abortion is a difficult issue, the worst that may happen is that it will be regulated by the states, where it should have been regulated in the beginning, it will then be removed from federal politics. I suspect it would be a welcome develop from politicians in both parties.

  43. For all those Repubs who keep decrying the dems socialistic tendencies:
I'm sure you will all be ecstatic when Drumpf and his sycophants remove Social Security and Medicare (completely Socialist Programs) when you retire. Fer Suuure. Then they'll crawl to the Dems again to clean up the mess. Maybe the Big Orange Man and imps will F it up so bad it will be beyond repair. Then, good luck!
Economy? Love the short short memories of people who think putting TRILLIONS on the credit card of America and think it will never come due. It was tried under Reagan and Bush and it always crashes within ten years when the debts outrun the input. The Orange One's solution: Give the rich more tax breaks so they can trickle it down all over you. Sure, why not give it a third try seeing as the first and second try were such disasters? Make no doubt about it, if he's not in jail when it happens Cadet Bone Spurs will be on to his next scam.

Tearing up words is a powerful symbol. Most of us prefer the American tradition of countering words with more words. A House Speaker tearing up words is more chilling than childish.
