Something Smells at Notre Dame Green Pond

In June, I told you that Notre Dame Green Pond planned to dedicate its football stadium to Deacon Anthony P Koury. He served at that school for 43 years, and I can think of no one more deserving than he. When I was recently informed that Deacon Koury had declined this recognition, I thought that sounded just like him. He has always been quite humble. But my bullshit meter started going off.

I found out about the honor from Tony himself. He was quite delighted. Why would he suddenly change his mind, and on the eve of a major celebration? I'm told that several others with deeper pockets have made clear to Notre Dame's Board they want one of their own recognized.

Had Tony really wanted to decline the honor, the Board could and should have insisted.

Something smells at Notre Dame Green Pond.

  1. Catholic school so is anyone surprised by politics and deep pockets $$$. Seriously. "Do as I say ,not as I do ". A real shame for Mr. Koury.

  2. Maybe he doesn't want his name permanently associated with the school because he expects something will become public soon? He doesn't like football? He's going to take a vow of silence, so won't be able to give an acceptance speech?

I'm not believing something "smells." It may just be that Mr. Koury, being thrilled to have been offered the honor, was honor enough for him. Not everyone needs the validation of others by having something dedicated in their name. Mr. Koury should state why he declined before conjecture is made as to a reason.

Considering his years of service and his age, I doubt anyone could force him to step aside if he didn't want to, no matter how deep their pockets are. IMHO.

  3. Typically this is an honor for someone however to bow out after soliciting and accepting donations, one has to think there is more to the story. Perhaps an investigation is warranted and who know what will come out from under the rug or cloth? Very suspicious on Bushkill Street

  4. My son and I advocated for and promoted this great honor. We are so disappointed and broken hearted to think no reason for this declination has been provided to the public that supported our cousin.

Upset and betrayed in Williams Township

  5. Deleted a few ugly comments, all off-topic and some anti-Catholic, which obviously came from the same person.

  7. Let’s not get off topic. Something just doesn’t seem right with this situation. AK lives for the limelight. Let’s meet in the cafeteria to discuss!

  8. The stench that is coming off the pond.... as it purges. Koury deserves the honor. Wait till you see who the bottom feeder is to succeed him. Koury is a gentleman and a class act.

  10. What about the cash donations solicited by Mr. Koury and his family? When can we expect these funds to be returned immediately. We are expecting (as are many others) our cash donations to be returned within 48 hours of the post. We have already contacted the Bishop in Allentown and Brooklyn. There is something very wrong here. We do not want any excuses or self-pity BS that Koury is known for, we want our money back.
From 4th Street to 9th Street....we want our money back

  11. The post from Keacon Dhoury is bullshit are these as well from Anonymous: "My son and I advocated for and promoted this great honor. As is this from Anonymous: "What about the cash donations solicited by Mr. Koury and his family? When can we expect these funds to be returned immediately. They are all posted by the notorious coward and cyberstalker, Isaac G. Jabbour, a convicted felon, sentenced to three years in federal prison after being arrested by the FBI for extortion and armed robbery. He has been cyberstalking and harassing quite a few lebanese families, including family members of Mr. Koury for years, and left the Easton Lebanese Community in shame in 2016. No one sees him and no one wants to see him. He's an outcast!!
