Roverfan73 with African King |
Panto, who disguised himself a few years ago as roverfan73 and tom18017 on the Lehigh Valley Live comment page, suffered no real damage for his dishonesty. In truth, despite his thin skin and monumental ego, he has been a good Mayor for the downtown. He's kept it "clean and safe" while the West Ward has become a war zone. He's raised no property taxes, which is evident from the decline in city services. Some of his ideas, like his $30 million commitment to a gigantic fish tank designed by architects who were not even licensed in Pa., could come back to haunt city residents. It's been replaced by something even more idiotic - a giant ant farm. There will also be an outdoor-indoor display of raccoons, skunks and other rodents, possibly elected officials.
Despite my criticism, Panto has been a proponent of affordable housing and the development of small organic businesses in Easton. He appears to be very popular and will be difficult to beat. City Council member Pete Melan might challenge him as well city activist Taiba Sultana. I doubt either can beat him, but choice is always a good thing.
Speaking of choice, I am unaware of any Republican who might be running.
He plans to spend $50 million on that ridiculous ant-farm. You are right about his ego but if he pitches that stupid ant-farm idea he is also nuts.
ReplyDeleteNorthampton County council is meeting tomorrow with the ant-farm people to talk about all the money they spent and want to spend.
Need referendum on ballot about term limits . Look like Reading,Pa. might get one .
ReplyDeletePanto like Freeman will stay for life.
ReplyDeleteI heard Panto is demanding the school district get rid of the RED Rover , the hideous RED uniforms, and become the BLUE Babies, with the pouting baby snowflake as mascot.

ReplyDeleteThe brainwashed Democrat masses get what they deserve. Did he outlaw straws and sugary drinks yet?
Sal hasn't raised property taxes because he can't. The City of Easton is at the maximum allowable millage. He would need to petition the Courts to go higher or the county would have to reassess. Instead he and Rep Freeman imposed a commuter tax on non-residents. So while the Mayor, City Council, and Controller brag about a $4 million surplus, purchase a fleabag hotel for way more than it's worth, and fund an "ant farm" they can continue to maintain underfunded pensions to justify taxation without representation.

That leaves people with what other option?
Easton gets what they deserve..just like Atown got what they deserved. Elections have consequences.
ReplyDeleteStop throwing shade on the magnificent Da Vinci science center in Easton! Your kids will marvel at exotic critters in the nature dome. Local creatures they could see for free by hiking in the woods. They will be astounded by the six foot penis on the Veruvian Man! And for extra fun, the whole family can enjoy a swim back to the parking garage during tropical storm flooding of the entire neighborhood! Well worth the $10 million Northampton County is considering to invest in this national landmark.

ReplyDeleteThey have an option. Pack up and leave for the burbs like smart people have been doing for years.
Sal is a good figurehead but lousy manager and leader. Too much turnover and lawsuits at the City because of him.
ReplyDeleteIn regards to a "old mayor" I just did some quick checking and I believe the late Henry Schultz became mayor at age 65 in the mid 1970s. He lost election for a second term. AS for Sal Panto, he is a pimp for Lafayette College. He has pissed off most residents on College Hill with his support for the college expansion. Residents are sick of the parking problems and unruly drunken students urinating on their lawns. Now that the college is about to start razing many homes along McCartney St it will only anger residents more. Residents in the West Ward and South Side think Sal is only worried about the downtown and every neighborhood in the city has been struck by the city's Gestapo parking authority, their employees the most hated in the city. And don't forget, in the past Sal Panto was pushing an effort to give drivers licenses to illegals. No doubt an effort to put more money in the downtown parking meters.
ReplyDeleteResign Murrray Haddad =you are a fraud !

ReplyDeleteJust a zoological point: both raccoons and skunks are classified in the order Carnivora, not Rodentia.
ReplyDeleteRemember that time he made the residents of Easton eat the cost of a $7 million dollar state water pollution program after he spent almost as much to turn a hotel into an empty lot so he could build a bio-dome downtown?
ReplyDeleteGood times.
