Could Wild and Nothstein Both Win?

That's a possibility. Most analysts are predicting a that Sue Wild will beat Marty Nothstein by a comfortable margin in the new Pa. 7th CD. But they are forgetting the old 15th? There's a special election going on in that district, too. That district is far more conservative. Do not be surprised if Nothstein gets to serve the last weeks of Dent's term.

  2. Why is this even a thing? Dent couldn't be bothered to work the last two weeks of his term before bailing?

  5. There is no debasing here. This is what the actual voting registration data of the two disparately apportioned districts show. It could happen whether anyone likes it or not.

  9. I wondered if a Nothstein win of the special election only would get him juicy benefits for life. Apparently not:

"Under both CSRS and FERS, Members of Congress are eligible for a pension at the age of 62 if they have completed at least five years of service. Members are eligible for a pension at age 50 if they have completed 20 years of service, or at any age after completing 25 years of service."

  10. I wish Marty Nothstein would have informed Republican voters during the primary debates about the circumstances surrounding his dismissal from the Velodrome and that he would raise very little money, run nearly no ads, send out nearly no fliers, essentially rolling over and losing without much of a fight. Who is running that campaign? I know Dean Browning could have made this race close and possibly even won. Right now it appears to be a blow out, Wild is running ads on multiple channels every single day with mailers going out almost daily. She must have so much campaign money.

    1. That's what happens when NY and Hollywood liberals buy a congressional seat. Wild is their puppet

  11. Yeah, Wild has lots of campaign cash, all coming from out of state, of course.

Happy higher taxes via Lehigh Valley Hillary!

  12. 7:58? What circumstances? If you read the recent Mcall article and focus on the FACTS you see Marty eliminated a deficit, found new sources of revenue and expanded programs. That's his record at the Velodrome. Now of course the Morning Call article also veers way off into anectdotes, heresay and other at best unsubstantiated at worse proven false claims to distract voters. But if you look at the facts objectively Marty was a very effective leader at the Velodrome. Did he tolerate employees not delivering? No. Was he demanding? Yes. The facts show Marty turned the velodrome around. Sounds like exactly what we need for Washington. ACTION. Not coddling.

And do you not have cable? Marty ads are running. Marty flyers are in mailboxes. Your clearly a bitter Dean supporter. Good thing Dean isn't bitter like you. He's classy and behind Marty 100%.

  13. Bernie:
You really think Nothstein would give up his seat as an LC Commissioner for 2 weeks of being a Congressman? He can't do both. LC Home Rule charter Section 204(b).

  14. If he wins the special, he can resign from the commissioner's seat take the congressional seat, and then apply to fill the vacancy he created and be reappointed as a commissioner when his congressional term is over. He can collect that portion of his generous congressional salary. He is under-employed right now, probably could use the cash.

Bitter? Of course I'm bitter, I'll be a constituent of Rep. Wild in 14 days! I'm behind the Republican candidate 100% as well, I'm just wondering why we are getting clobbered here 14 days before the election.

  21. Open enrollment for 2019 benefits started today Last yearthey take away 4 vacation days last year from employees with 10 or more years of service. This year the Premium for basic plan went up by 11%.
Looks like that Corporate tax cut is eroded away and now our Premiums still grow and Republicans solution is cuts to Social Security and Medicare.

We need a new direction becuase slogans are a word vacuum of empty air.
