Prominent Immigration Attorney Ray Lahoud to Vote For Morganelli
Raymond explains below why he's voting fir John Morganelli.
"As you know, I am an immigration attorney. And, yes, I will be voting for John Morganelli, as I am sincere in the belief that voting is not a one-issue decision. Candidates are not about one issue. There is more to voting than one issue. A Democrat need not be far left to be a Democrat. A Republican need not be far right to be a Republican. Differences are good between the parties and within the parties. John Morganelli is more than immigration. But, there is more to John Morganelli on immigration and I believe his record is not as accurate as others are portraying. In my practice as an Immigration Attorney, I have worked with the District Attorney countless times on immigration specific matters, particularly within the context of victims of crime who are undocumented. Indeed, he may have a tough position on the discretionary ARD program for those charged with a DUI, who, because of their lack of documentation, are prohibited by the Commonwealth to drive with or without alcohol (is it possible that the the precondition to ARD when charged with a DUI is not lawful status, but lawful driving privileges when arrested?). ARD is just one fact pattern.... one issue. Here is another immigration issue: each year, tens of thousands of undocumented immigrants are victims of brutal crimes, such as rape, domestic violence, human trafficking, and horrendous child exploitation and abuse. The perpetrators are not limited to others who are undocumented; they are of every "status." Often, the victim's undocumented "status" itself becomes a tool of further victimization. Northampton County is not immune from this awful problem. In fact, crimes of this sort are growing exponentially. The local papers do not publicize the "status" of the victim. Time and again, John Morganelli has certified U-Visa for these victims--giving them a path to legal status in the United States. Time and again, he has gone to bat for them and did what he could to protect them from deportation. Time and again, he has protected these victims from being picked up and deported after their perpetrator reports the victim's undocumented status to immigration authorities. Time and again, he has gone beyond U-visa certifications and taken affirmative steps to help undocumented victims of crime not only secure justice, but secure lawful status and a home in Northampton County. I recall an instance in which it was the District Attorney's certification and persistence that protected a victim from deportation. When faced with aggravation from immigration and its bureaucracy during the process, John persisted, as the deportation was to a country where the very perpetrator was deported to only months before...and was waiting. Again, this is just one issue. One issue within an issue. Put simply, there is more to John Morganelli on immigration and there is more to John Morganelli than immigration. This is a good thing, as we live in a world of many issues."

good for morganelli.
ReplyDeleteshows he has a heart as to victims of crime.
An illegal alien is an illegal alien, period. They are not supposed to be in the United States.
ReplyDeleteWe have immigration laws, and admit over a million people from other nations into the United States each year though our legal immigration process.
Legal immigrants do not have falsified social security numbers, and other bogus identify documents. How would you like having someone else use your social security number, for example, to file an income tax return in your name? This is fraud, and as an attorney, even a former one, you should understand this.
Legal immigrants do not fear law enforcement, and are welcome in the United States. Criminals are not.
Thats actually f7nny Haha Uh Huh
ReplyDeleteUndocumented= illegal. It is a spin word least hurtful for the liberals. NO one undocumented is here with a legal tight to have entry period.
ReplyDeleteanon 3:46, it is the way people are brainwashed.
ReplyDeleteNo your incorrect No brainwashing it's the LAW in EVERY country
Delete3:46. Agree
ReplyDeleteUndocumented = law breaker. Why is this so difficult for some to understand? Because undocumented = potential Democratic voter. When you've lost the philosophical argument, it's time to import new voters. I think this is why John is facing a purity test from progressives. Unrestricted immigration is key to Democrat's future electoral prospects. It's in a DNCC memo. John is off the reservation chasing actual, legal citizens for votes.
ReplyDeleteWho the heck cares!!!
ReplyDelete"I believe his record is not as accurate as others are portraying."
ReplyDeleteRay is an honest guy who speaks concisely. Perhaps it's not "as accurate." But it's close enough.
Morganelli is more pro-Trump than Republican Charlie Dent. Morganelli sought a job in the administration of authoritarian Donald Trump. Shut out all the silly season noise and simply let that sink in.
Bernie - hope you go see the other Bernie's appearance.
ReplyDeleteAnd John is a good guy.

ReplyDeleteI guess this NMM attorney is a good guy because he supports Morganelli.
ReplyDeleteWhy is it that Democrats love illegal aliens? Can't they tell the difference between a legal immigrant and one who breaks the law to be here?
ReplyDeleteI'm not really interested in the trashing of ideologies as it has NOTHING to do with this story, T
ReplyDelete7:35 If you want to trash someone who is not running for anything, sign your name.
ReplyDelete"I guess this NMM attorney is a good guy because he supports Morganelli."
ReplyDeleteMany of the attorneys at that form are fine people. I went to law school with one of them, and she is a saint. But the firm has been tarnished by Allinson and Lushis. I stand by my criticism of the firm.
"Bernie - hope you go see the other Bernie's appearance."
ReplyDeleteI will likely try.
This opinion by Ray Lahoud is quite helpful to me in making up my mind about John Morganelli. It indicates that he has a nuanced position on the complex issue of immigration, and that he has a heart. I still have more questions about his position, which I will attempt to answer before the primary election, but this statement goes quite a ways towards answering many of them.
ReplyDeleteAnd I completely agree with Lahoud that there is more to the election than just one issue. I, for one, am encouraged by Morganelli's strong support for equal opportunity and treatment of minorities. And his website states that he supports Affordable Health Care for all. If that means that he supports the Affordable Care ACT (Obamacare), why then he is more liberal than Bernie!
Lol. In some respects, yes.
ReplyDeleteIt's very easy when you live in a country steeped in white privilege to make judgments about people who want to immigrate here looking for a better life. We have one of the most broken immigration systems in the world, yet conservatives talk like it's the easiest thing in the world. You should be thankful that you sit in a position of power where you can anonymously pass judgment on those who would look for a better life.
ReplyDeleteFix the immigration system, make it easy to become a citizen, and then complain when people break the law. Until that time, either work to fix the system or shut your mouth.
Now let's talk about absurdity: Most current US citizens do 50% worse on the citizenship test than people looking to become citizens. Let's talk about the fact that conservatives support a president who has been married three times and been in two affairs (that we know of) and turn a blind eye, simply because he advances their cause. Let's talk about the hypocrisy involved with practicing "Christianity" and yet supporting a president who goes directly against the teachings of Christ in virtually everything he does and says. Let's talk about the anti-abortion protester who has never adopted a child and changes their position when their daughter gets pregnant at 16.
"Liberalism is the art of absurdity." The art of absurdity is picking a single issue and blindly following anyone who advances that agenda.
Here's another mathlete who doesn't get that open borders and a welfare state are incompatible. That doesn't matter when trawling prisons and border fences for votes at any cost. And I love when the abortion for profit gang lectures on morality. Those who've never adopted aren't permitted to be against the premeditated murder of an unborn. OK. That makes perfect liberal sense. It's weird when a Saul Alinsky type uses Saul Alinsky tactics to decry Saul Alinski tactics. When the going gets weird, the weird go pro.
ReplyDeleteMorganelli is going to be our next Congressman. He will win a large percentage of R votes. We will replace Charlie Dent with a more conservative representative. That's a good thing.
Mr Anonymous @ 1:41pm - you put so many words in my mouth I had to chew on them a while.
ReplyDeleteFirst of all, where did I lecture on morality? I'm an atheist who's read and understands the teachings of the bible, and has no problem calling out the "Christian" hypocrites who go against everything they profess to believe in. And unlike said Christian hypocrites, I don't need a fairy tale to tell me how to treat people. (BTW, if I'm wrong and there is a hell, I'll be the first one down there - I don't profess to have a higher morality.)
Second of all, Einstein - undocumented folks don't receive welfare except in certain very specific cases that involve a baby being born here. (Being the mathlete that you are I'm sure you can figure out how many people actually get benefits.) So the harrowing tales of the right about people streaming across the border, getting welfare, and voting Democrat are crap. I'm sure in your ivory tower you probably don't know anyone who's applied for welfare benefits, but let me tell you - the hoops they have to go through (even as a citizen who paid taxes for years) to get benefits is absurd.
Thirdly, I'm guessing you probably have a penis, which makes you completely and 100% ineligible to tell a woman what she can and cannot do with her body. Are you snipped and/or wrap it up every time? Oh that's right, I forgot that abortion is wrong but also birth control is wrong. Love that twist! :)
Agreed, though, that Morganelli will probably get in and start kissing President Stupid's ass as soon as he does.
TW, John will be elected but will not be kissing any asses. He is personable and will try to work with others.
ReplyDeleteWhy are atheists so miserable? Why do they poke fun at others' beliefs? Why are they so judgmental? Why does a typical atheist tell a stranger they're an atheist, 2.5 seconds after meeting, on average? The use of undocumented indicates an insincere argument - regardless of one's ism. 1.5 million immigrants per year. $20 trillion in debt. Thanks for playing. And that you're an atheist is fabulous and fascinating! Enjoy Congressman Morganelli's term.
ReplyDeleteJohn is being chased by the same gang that supported a Dumbo Drop of $1 billion in cash on pallets to religious nuts with nuclear weapons. That makes me want to vote for John.
ReplyDelete1:41, careful. "They" are out to get you. Be scared. Be very, very And who is this Saul "Alinski" guy you referenced? Is he the right wing version of Saul "Alinsky"? I just love it when hateful people reveal their true colors -- and they are almost always white.
ReplyDeleteYeah, "pigs in a blanket - fry 'em like bacon," is very white, for those obsessed with keeping scores of all things racial. Dr. King admonished us to judge a man by his character. Your is for shit - regardless of your skin color.
ReplyDeletesomehow i doubt Morganelli talked about his compassion and U-visa work when he went to speak to the tea party folks.
ReplyDeletebut as a good politician he told them what they want to hear.
based on the comments so far they probably would not want to hear anything about compassion for crime victims who are undocumented.
Morganelli was smart enough to realize that making an enemy of undocumented/illegals ala Arpaio of AZ makes it harder to find the criminals and get information on those bad guys you want to get rid of.
The comment at 4:54 comes the Wild camp. He starts around 3 am, and his comments are recognizable by the strange line breaks.I was told that Wild's campaign manager does this every day. Here are the facts. 1) Morganelli opposes illegal immigration. 2) He supports a clean DREAM Act and was the first House candidate to announce this. 3) A well-regarded immigration lawyer claims that John's position on illegal immigration has been distorted by others. 4)John has certified U-Visas for crime victims andhas fought to keep them from being deported. 5) He is one of the few Dems tolerant enough to speak tp the tea party. He believes we should speak to each other, not at each other. Wild and her campaign criticize John for reaching out to the other side. That's what I expect of a candidate who lies.
ReplyDeleteLook at what these people have done to the LV. So Morganelli is now trying to get their votes. The country is literally being invaded an de are allowing it in the name of political correctness. Morganelli is now pandering?
ReplyDelete"Morganelli is going to be our next Congressman. He will win a large percentage of R votes. We will replace Charlie Dent with a more conservative representative." (Anon 1:41)
ReplyDelete"Agreed, though, that Morganelli will probably get in and start kissing President Stupid's ass as soon as he does." (TW 2:07)
Well. It looks like we have here a real convergence of the two ends of the political spectrum. I am in awe of this rare political agreement of the Right and the Left.
Me, I think that if Morganelli is elected, both of you will be mostly wrong. While I do not expect Morganelli to be the "Second Coming of Christ", he is likely to be an improvement over Dent. Dent always had this aura of being a "moderate", which he played well (with the help of our host Bernie O'Hare). But the reality is, when push came to shove, he always voted with the conservatives, against Obamacare and for the regressive tax bill which rewards the rich. (By the way, Bernie, how is it that he cannot remain in Congress until the end of his term? Why would it be such a hardship for him to continue to serve the term for which the voters elected him? Poor guy!)
And TW, Morganelli's campaign literature states that he "proudly supported Hillary Clinton", which is something that our host Bernie O'Hare did not have the courage or wisdom to do, proudly or otherwise.
But Bernie sometimes gets things right, and I'm hoping this is one of those times.
Prominent attorney (lol)
ReplyDeleteProminent attorney in Easton,on a Rowe Home Street (lol).
ReplyDeleteHave you seen all those thugs at the border. It is a full-scale invasion. Come to America for free stuff you can get it from the government or steal it. Did you see the guys hiding their faces. They plan on being drug dealers and criminals and want to stay hidden. They will find some of these dopey white women that love to make brown babies and then they hope they are anchored while they do their crimes. People are worried about all the crime, murders, rapes and burglaries. Do we really need more of this?
ReplyDelete9:15 it's time for the dogs and the high-pressure firehoses on the border.
ReplyDelete"Prominent attorney in Easton,on a Rowe Home Street (lol)."
ReplyDeleteWhat an ugly person you are. No wonder your wife dumped you, Robert Ryan.
Robert Ryan is a drunken bum whose wife left him.
ReplyDeleteYou call him a drunk and when you are called on your hypocrisy you make the comment go away. You are not an honest person. S9o is he a drunk or an alcoholic? Shame on you.
ReplyDeleteRobert Ryan is a drunken bum whose wife left him. Every time he spews his hate on this blog, I am deleting his comment and adding one of my own, just about him.
