LWV to Host US House Debate (Pa.-7th) at NCC

Yesterday, the six Democrats seeking the Pa. 7th Congressional seat participated in an hour-long debate at WFMZ-TV69's Business Matters, hosted by Tony Iannelli. That debate will air on April 9 and 16. Thanks to the League of Women Voters, there will be a second debate for all candidates, Democrat and Republican, on May 2, 7 pm, at Northampton Community College's Alumni Hall.

PoliticsPa lists the seat as "highly vulnerable" for Republicans. This new district voted for Hillary Clinton by one point. It is projected to feature a "competitive contest" in the Fall.

Despite the large field of Democrats, the race has been quiet so far. This suits John Morganelli, who spent the past quarter-century fighting crime as NorCo's popular District Attorney. He is the best known of the candidates. He freely admits he is more conservative than his fellow Democrats. Allentown Attorney Susan Wild will certainly benefit from the #metoo movement  Rev.Gregory Edwards is a gifted orator and a crusader against what he calls educational apartheid

Democrats will have additional opportunities to set themselves apart in at least two and possibly three more forums When I have details, I will share them.

Only two Republicans are running, which suggests that they know that winning this district will be difficult. Marty Nothstein did cancel out of one debate, which tells me he thinks he's ahead of Dean Browning. Either one will be a formidable opponent to the Democratic nominee.

  1. so will Morganelli commit another Fec violation before the next debate too running an illegal push pull slandering his opponents and refusing to identify that he paid for it

  2. If you refer to the poll done last night in Monroe, Morganelli had nothing to do with it. He is attacking none of his primary opponents. It is in his interest to stay positive.

  3. no I'm talking about the push poll done in Lehigh and Northampton counties. Where they asked nothing about Morganelli, but slandered Wild and Edwards, and refused to tell why they weren't asking questions about Morganelli or idenify who was paying for it making it quite obvious it was Morganelli's campaign

  4. The "poll" was directly targeted at democratic super voters in Rural and Exburban areas

  5. I would look into any Severson linked concerns. His past links to Morganelli are well known.

  6. John had NOTHING to do with it. He and I talked about it. In fact, he had heard about it earlier in the day, probably at the Business Matters debate. He agreed that it was strange that a poll would attack his opponents and not him, but he is running a positive campaign and has no intention of attacking anyone. Sometimes, a candidate who is down will engineer a negative attack on himself so he can react to it or just see how damaging it is. The Rs, who always have money to burn, could be sabotaging John bc they know he will be much harder to beat than the other Dems. I make no accusations. I only recite possibilities. I also spoke to John's campaign manager and he made very clear to me that he is running a positive campaign and is under very strict orders to stay positive. He had nothing to do with it. Severson has a rep, but he's pretty smart and knows that John would only hurt himself by going dark. So I'd rule him out, too.

I received an OT comment yesterday on my Allentown Divided post. I was forced to delete it, but it claimed that there were similar attacks on a Facebook page. FierceLV. When I finally was able to get on the page, I saw nothing. It would be sheer lunacy for John's campaign to launch an attack from there.

John will stay positive. If the attacks continue, it won't take me long to figure out where they are from. Do you have phone numbers? Is there a recording or was it live?

  9. Great recording. Who is SSI?

  10. https://www.surveysampling.com/ SSI is a polling firm that in political circles is used by conservative corporate candidates to run slanderous push polls against their opponents. While trying to hide their involvement in it.

  11. So John, how does it feel to be a loser?

  12. It will get down and dirtier soon.

  13. This push poll is unacceptable.

  14. Not too many politicians you can trust to do the right thing no matter what, but if you're a friend of John he'll let their kid slide over and over again no matter what.

  15. I heard Marty Nothstein ducked out on 2 debates? Dean Browning should have someone follow Marty around with signs saying, "Debate Dean!" and "No-Show Nothstein!"

  16. Nothstein has the full support of millionaire Wayne "my way or the highway" Woodman, so Browning better start raising campaign money.

  17. 7:25, It is a great recording. Morganelli did send out a robo call on Monday, but no poll. It was just a positive message. One of his people received a call polling different candidates, and the person who made the call mispronounced two of the candidate names. I suspect that this SSI push poll is coming from a GOP PAC, and the reason is to anger progressive Dems into thinking it comes from John. They would rather not face him in the general election.

Very dirty, and it muddies Wild, Edwards and Morganelli.

Also, the pollster should have disclosed who was paying for the poll since he is trying to influence an election.

  18. Edwards is intriguing but I'm skeptical of someone who has devoted so much time and effort into the metaphysical.

That's great. O'Hare is sexually fluid.
