Make Your Last Minute Pitches and Election Observations Here

Want to make a last-minute recommendation for a candidate you think should be elected? Or do you have a report from any of the polling places? Please feel free to comment. I'll be busy in Hanover 3, acting as an election judge, so my participation here will be spotty.

  1. Write in Ron Angle for County Executive. Let's make Northampton County great again!

  2. I cannot repeat my mistake and vote for Brown . I don't want to vote for McClure. Anon 12:48 makes a great point. I will be writing in Ron Angle for County Executive. Hopefully the party people get the message.

  3. Brown did not save $50 million. He allowed a 10% real estate tax increase. He wants to spend close to $200 million on a jail. He brags about building bridges. So far one is done and was $2 million over budget. He misinformed citizens of the Nazareth area about his prison study.

Elections are about Trust and competence. he failed both those tests.

  4. If you vote Brown, you vote against yourself
if you vote incumbents back in, you just approved their 10% tax increase

we need to send a message and its not wasting your vote and writing Angel

You need to vote all incumbents out of office and i will hold my nose and do just that.

Anything is bette than the last 4 years of tax and spend Republicans who ran on a Taxed Enough Already platform and then LIED

Im sorry but as a TEA Party Member i am going to Vote for McClure

He is the only one who is a true non Tax politician, he tried to give us money back and was never for any tax raises the entire time he was on County Council.

Brown, Whom i voted for along with council, RAISED MY TAXES and I had a big bill because i have a nice Place and the assessment is high, I'm tired of paying for those who don't work and i'm tired of John Brown, Hayden Phillips, Glenn Geisenger and yes even Peg Ferraro must go they need to know they can't give me a huge tax bill and get away with it!

  6. Lou Hershman is the only Republican running for any council seat in Easton, Bethlehem, and Allentown. All Democrats have already won all seats - except for the possibility of Hershman.

  7. Complacent, low numbers today - moderate in 3ward Easton only exception , I predict/ of coarse with no scientist around anywhere.

  8. Dump Brown the clown and his rubber stamps on county council. His whole administration, including his tax cheat 2nd-in-command, enhanced spend-drift HR Director, wannabe king of corrections with a new castle and all the cronies he has promoted and doubly paid for. NC deserves better government!

  10. Pull the D lever. Any R is tainted by Trumpism and we need to end it, starting today.

  11. Interesting that it’s 9:00 AM and the Express Times online edition still does not have a story about today being Election Day.
And tomorrow they’ll have an editorial bemoaning the lack of voter participation in local elections.
They have had such minimal coverage of the candidates this year it’s pitiful.
The Morning Call has a headline story. The amusing thing about the MC story is under the KEY ALLENTOWN POLLING PLACES there are some comments that are really inappropriate – “Important territory for Ray” and “SYRIANS, SYRIANS, SYRIANS”

  14. This Democrat held his nose and voted for Brown. McClure was horrible county councilman, and I cant forget it. Also, Barron VonFootintheMouth is pushing him and telling people he will be Director of Administration...the horror!

I saw Paige Van Wirt at Wesley this morning. Would not vote for that in a millions years. Bryan Callahan was much more outgoing and willing to talk to voters.

  16. The polls in Allentown slow with low turnout. The Hyman and O'Connell workers making a good impression while Fed Ed's people seem a little..pathetic. I think O'Connell makes an impressive showing and Hyman wins.

  17. A lot of dem voters , have stated that they are voting for brown, that he has done a good job.

  21. Turnout in Hanover 3 ahead of four years ago. Turnout then was 243. Based on turnout as if 1 pm, a turnout of 318 can be projected. This could be bc voters are coming out for Emil. It could be there is more Dem interest. Could be both.

  22. Voted here for Judge Emil and the Fellow Marine Phillips,I will hope they win and hope to see them at Hackett Park Veterans Day ,Sat Am so we can congratulate both ,- Let’s pray for a State Trooper and his family now too .

  26. Better than expected turnout here at Plainfield Township Belfast district so far.
Dems seem to have more coverage here than last time. I am hoping for a change!
    Northampton County needs a reboot!

  34. D Executive and D Council means bye-bye Allen, Trapp, Twinning, Keen and Colon!!!! It's my understanding that LM has already promised both AFSCME Residual as well as AFSCME Corrections that DOC Keen will be replaced.

  35. "Saw Cathy Allen at Hanover Dist. 6 tonight..seemed like she stopped by just to thank the poll workers, which I thought was nice of her. Hope she went over to 3 to thank you, Bernie!"

I have a completely different take. I think her appearance in precincts at the very time her boss us campaigning for re-election was entirely inappropriate. I did see her, and told her that I was very leery of her presence. I did ask to see her authority and she produced a badge, but who gave it to her? Amy Trapp? John Brown?

Council really needs to look into this. Allen's presence may have been entirely innocent, but we need a policy that establishes independent election officials. That is part of the reason why I wanted a home rule study.

  39. Oh sweet lord I think I have a new boss. This is so exciting. I want to be there for trapp and crew lose their job. Normally I would feel sorry but she is border line evil the way she treats others for some personally satisfaction. Get rid of Allen, trapp and twinning immediately. There is going to be a party in the courthouse tomorrow!!!!!!

  45. None of the election results reporting seem to mention how Paige van Wirt did with her write-in campaign in Bethlehem for city council. The "race" isn't even listed.

The local race that surprised me was that Howard Kutzler didn't win in Bethlehem Township.

"Wave goodbye to Brown. I'll be waving with one finger."

That's the type of attitude, which has also been displayed publicly in the recent past, that will do wonders to help bring people together to work out solutions which affect us all. I saw this attitude at the polls yesterday. There was a shift change for poll workers supporting a certain candidate. The mood changed, and the attitude became more adversarial. More us versus them. Wanting to argue and yell instead of listen and learn. Right fighters. Those that are right and everyone else is wrong. They make sure they're going to get their point across. Mean and nasty people are mean and nasty people, whatever the issue or candidate. We must look at how we talk to and what we say to and about others. That must be "fixed" first and foremost.

"Thank god that asshole Haden Phillips lost"
It is obvious that you do not like Hayden. You have your reasons and that's your right. But to call him an asshole also makes it obvious that you do not know him, or you only know him through an issue with which you may disagree. To call him an asshole, publicly, especially without knowing him personally, and to judge him on only on what you don't agree on, is wrong. He is not an asshole. He is and has been an honorable man of great character and integrity for a long period of time. If you have a "beef" with him, or anyone, talk to them in person. Have coffee with him. He'd be willing. That's what people with courage and conviction do. Ask questions, others will provide answers. Perhaps not what you would like to hear, but you'll know why they did what they did. It is easy to hide behind a keyboard and yell about others, spread rumors and untruths about others, call others names, etc... anonymously. That takes no courage. I know Hayden Phillips. We do not always agree. He does have my respect. In January of 2018, Hayden Phillips will still be a man of honor and of great character and integrity. You will be still be calling someone else an asshole anonymously. Calling someone else a name says more about the name caller than it does about the person being called the name. Children call other children names. Some grow out of it. I guess that some do not.

Dr. Van Wirt did not win, but drew a large number of write-in votes and scared a lot of people. She'll be back. I am disappointed that Howard lost. He is a good man.

  50. Howard had his chance, he blew it and the voters responded to his ineptness.
