GOP Tax Overhaul Actually Raises Taxes Over Time

As it stands now, your taxes will be going up in a bill that authoritarian Donald Trump wanted to call the Cut Cut Cut Bill. As reported by CBS, the House Ways and Means Committee has already proposed to amend the bill so that tax rates go up immediately as the CPI increases, instead of waiting until 2023.

  1. Nothing new here Trump proposes something Bernie rejects it. Just like ringing the bell for Pavlov's dog.

  2. Where are Trumps tax returns? Did you see he made a pit stop at one of his (branded) hotels in Hawaii I believe.
This guy is failing all of us and would like for people to wake up before it's too late!

  7. Let's see Bernie talks about Northampton county politics for a while, all is well and good. He puts his toe into national politics, and all of the people who hate the President come out of the woodwork and act like children...

    Nothing has changed.

The majority of people, 59%, have a negative approval of the President. Don't act as if this guy is beloved. He's a disaster of epic proportions and people like allowed it to happen. Imbeciles with their heads up their asses with no real understanding of any policy matters except what Fox tells you (which by the way are lies).

  10. 9:33 no wonder Allentown is in the horrible state it's in. I suppose however, that this all goes back to the bottom of the barrel public schools that produce the voters that keep Democrats in office who believe the nonsense you do. Allentown deserves the government the people vote for. Most of the intelligent people have long left the world of drive-by shootings, gangs and all the rest of it we don't have here where the Gentrified live. We worked hard to get ahead, and the underclass can have what we left years ago.

  11. I have a negative opinion of Ttump and would vote for him again if he ran against Hillary or Bernie. Trump has lots of voters who really don’t like him. But Democrats seem clueless to offer a better alternative than a sleazy crook and a socialist. Instead, they continue their tantrum and mock those who disagree. That’s not the best way to win back voters.

  13. Children, the post here is that the GOP BILL that was supposed to cut taxes will actually raise them. Perhaps one of you might wish to address that, instead of trying to divert attention.

I have no interest in "winning" you back. You are willing to vote for a con man, a criminal money launderer, and borderline traitor. You have no integrity. We will win back the Whitehouse despite the Trumpists.

  15. Weird. Bernie deleted my response to Jamie Kelton but kept "her" post up. And then went ahead and lambasted "her" himself.

At least give me a "This post has been deleted by a moderator" so I don't think I'm losing my mind.

Case in point in the failure to distinguish between “Trumpists” and those who held their noses and voted for the lesser of two evils.

As long as the corporate rate is cut, it’s a good bill on balance. Congress is addicted to taxes and predictably recoiled at the prospect of less walking around money to buy votes the old fashioned way. Our corporate tax rate is exorbitant and hurts jobs. Cut the rates for everybody and every company and eliminate all loopholes. This bill doesn’t go far enough.

  19. Trickle down has destroyed the middle class and American life. There is no "trickle-down" .Americans have been duped. Easy to do. Drape greed and corporate government in an American flag and add in patriotic displays with perpetual wars and you have a stupid country whom obsesses more on black athletes kneeling than on the people picking their bones clean.

That is the sad history that will be written about the USA in centuries to come. Much like other great civilizations that went belly up.

  20. Tax the top 5% at 95% and you haven't made a dent in the deficit; let alone the debt. Our corporate tax rates are the highest in the world. The proposed rates will make us middle-high. Companies hire people. Mine provides good wages and benefits and stock sharing to 19 families, including mine. Hate them all you like. But the government can't hire everybody. Just ask Venezuela.

I agree that there are many who voted Trump simply bc of the bad choice. But too few of you have been willing to call him on his abuses, which are endangering our democracy. When he is not trying to provoke a small-time hood in N Korea, he slams the Justice Dep't for not going afrer his political enemies. He threatens to shut down a TV station that criticizes him. Why aren't you speaking out? Are you an American or not?

As for the tax bill, i am waiting a bit and doing a bit more research before I weigh in. I prefer to make my own decisions instead of going off what some talking head says.

  22. Obviously, the old tax code has done nothing for America. Corporations left, and useless politicians like Barrack Hussien Obama proposed nothing to stop this. The bottom line for these changes is: Free up money for corporations to expand, hire and come back. Reduce the tax pressures on the taxpayers who will spend more disposable income on goods and services. And to make our politicians more fiscally responsible in spending. If this works, it's a win/win situation for all. However, the spend and don't save entitlement democrats would like this to fail and further push the national debt, [which Obama doubled], into more insolvency. Lets give this a try! Anything is better than the current practice.

There is no difference. This is on display by the fact that you STILL believe Trump was the "lesser of two evils", Trumpist.

Bullshit. Now go back and figure in deductions and expenditures and get back to us, Trumpist.

How are you going to increase votes to get back to winning? Oh, that’s right, you’ll import more voters and try to get felons to vote. When you’ve lost the philosophical argument, all that’s left is to change the electorate. Beating these blockheads again is going to much easier than anyone thinks. You’d think they’d learn something after being trounced for six years. Apparently not. It’s fun to watch.
