Brown To Release Jail Study Today

Last week, Northampton County Executive John Brown said that he would release a $78,000 jail study, and one that he could have obtained at no cost, on either Friday or Monday.he apparently obtained the study, prepared by architectural firm DLR, on Monday.

Rather than release it as promised, he's holding it and will release it today, 2;30 pm, at a news conference at the Human Services building.

He's already had one selective news conference with WFMZ-TV69, in which he states that he';s decided on Easton and everything else was just fake news and political fodder.  We know that as recently as June, he ruled out building a prison in Easton. We know his prison advisory board wanted it at Gracedale. We know that a year ago, Gracedale was the obvious choice.  So what has really happened is that Brown has been caught trying to pull a fast one.

In his selective news conference, Brown also stated that he could build he jail with no tax hike. We know about that, too. he plans to use an "alternative bidding process" that he managed to slip through the state legislature as part of the budget on Wednesday of last week.

  1. The only fake news is John Brown County Executive.

  2. So $78.000 of tax and a lot of secretive government by he and county council and this is his so-called decision??? I know a couple people running for county office who knew this before all the money and lies.

Problem now is no one believes him. This is like 2009 election when Gracedale was the beloved county home. After he election they "decided" to sell it for its own good.

So, sorry Johnnie, don't believe you and certainly don't believe the county Council that pretended no one knew about the Gracedale prison plans.

The only fake story here is YOU!

  3. What difference, at this point, does it make? The alternative is slimy McClure. I’m still voting for Brown. I’d vote for Satan over McClure. Dems had an opportunity. And then they nominated McClure.

  4. 5:26

so you would rather have a back door dealing, tax raising, lunch per-diem cheating, fake businessman who lies to the public openly about his qualifications, his Prison Plans for Nazareth, and the Hiring of a HS hack as chief administrator, than the guy who never raised your taxes and year after year proposed that you get a rebate? unless this is the witch from west Easton who never paid a tax in her life, then just ignore her ignorant rants

  7. He'll be going out as he came in: Lying! He got caught with his pants down on this one, and even the useless council, except for Ken Kraft, can back him on this one.

  9. I think what Brown needs to answer now is what undisclosed locations he was figuring on and what was the factor of the prices. Clearly the people who did this "study" were considering places. I also find it that Brown is going with a more expensive option in Easton when he can build a larger facility 290 beds in an undisclosed location for under $80.00 per bed per day.

Anyone wanna guess where that site would be? You guessed it Gracedale!

  10. So he wants to build it in Easton next to the courthouse. What a view a new multi story prison will make in Easton. Then lets now forget all the parking that disappears due to the parking deck being removed for the prison, then building a new one where the prison used to be. Say it takes approx 4 yrs to get done. Where due all those parked vehicles go for that time ? Tiem for an executive to stop listening to these judges who think they are good and use your head. Build the new prison outside of Easton like most counties are doing. Then tear down the old prison, build a new deck and then you will still have space for office and court expansion at the courthouse in the future. What idiots !
