McClure Schedules High Noon News Conference at NorCo Courthouse

Bethlehem Attorney Lamont McClure, Democratic candidate for NorCo Exec, has scheduled a news conference at high noon today at the NorCo courthouse entrance. He is expected to address staffing shortages in Human Services.

According to Human Services Director Allison Frantz, there were 28 vacancies for 239 positions at  Human Services (excluding Gracedale) in July. The vacancy percentage is 12%. But departments like Children, Youth and Families are overwhelmed by a huge increase in complaints as a result of 23 new laws adopted in the wake of the Sandusky child sex scandal. .

  1. So the guy with the worst attendance record in County history is going to pretend he cares today?

  2. Why not express concern about all of the positions that haven't been filled??

  5. Lamont will be talking about the vacancies I am sure. John Brown has filled his administration with cronies and decided to ignore important positions that provide core county functions while bringing in people with little to no experience elsewhere.

The most vulnerable of Northampton County's citizens are in danger each day John Brown does not fill these positions while he rewards friends and political allies with no-show jobs.

  6. This is the time to hit Big Bad Leroy Brown up. His page from the Pawlowski play-book will make NC a shambles; just like A-town. Your chance NC to get rid of this poor excuse for a County Executive.

  7. Look up job openings for Human Services on the county website It sure as hell isn't 28! I guess Brown's idea of cost cutting may come at the expense of lives.

  8. What needs to be told is that there are quality staffed in NorCo to take over Admininstrative positions such as the one for MH/EI/DP. The internal candidates for the position years ago never got an interview. Interesting!

There are not enough workers as the County does not take care of their own. They have little to no value for workers that care, knowledgable, and diligent.

Inusrance and fringe benefits have been cut and now so has the compensation rate for the pension. Salaries are no longer in line with neighboring counties and some staff there has not seen raises in several years.

Plain and simply, NorCO is no longer the great glam civil service position it was years ago.

  10. That's no reflection on a candidate seeking the county's highest office. It is a reflection of the deterioration of our daily news sources.
