First Anti Fed Ed Sign in Allentown

On Friday, I posted an anti Fed Ed yard sign and asked if you wanted one. There has been some interest, so I decided to place an order. But before I could do so, one of those signs has already popped up on Tilghman Street near Ott.

A few observations:

  1. Contrary to what some might tell you, the First Amendment trumps any ordinance that attempts to limit core political speech.
  2. Please do not staple or nail a sign on a telephone pole. That does violate a state law designed to ensure uninterrupted service, which is a reasonable restriction on First Amendment rights. Use tape.

  6. Looks like those signs you see at Thurway exit ramps that advertise car body repair or moving or Direct TV descramblers. Usually seen but mentally ignored.

  7. There's a City Council candidate (Zucal) with yard signs using the slogan "Make Allentown Great Again", which makes me sick. Surely he doesn't think that kind of re-tread message will resonate in an urban area such as Allentown?

  8. Bernie,
should the allentown sticker gang use ducktape, like the mayors current slumlordian campaign donors use to hold there uninhabitable tenaments together! Just one qwik question were can the bedbug population be purchased to stratigically place them in city counsil chambers as is allowed under home schooled charter by counterparts? That will prepare counsil to step up and take charge once there homes become infested with these little blood sucking tools too!
ItZ too early in the morning as clocks were turned ahead this weekend.

Agreed. Americans are really fed up with the shyster that originated that slogan.

  12. I would not be surprised if one of the other candidates for mayor used Bernie's sign as a template for their own campaign.

  15. Thank you Anonymous 1:05. You are 100% right. I will do my absolute best to make Allentown like it was in the late 70's and 80's Great Again. The difference when I say it is. I practice what I preach.

  16. Seriously, what EXACTLY can city council do on ANYTHING important in Allentown and what exactly can an individual council person do? It's pretty obvious that this mayor does EXACTLY as he wants with impunity.

  17. Anonymous 2:23. Thank you for your comment. Regardless of who is or becomes the next Mayor I want to assure you that, I am no ones puppet. Yes, I am only one person. However, people have to be held accountable. I can tell you that as a retired police officer I will be their worst nightmare if they think different. You can still have faith the future is bright. Have a Great day!

    1. Ed, whno are you going to do to help the children at the elementary schools, with the dangerous drop off and pick up. As you know, parents do many things that are an accident to a child waiting to happen. The crossing guards have been attacked in the past. There is a shortage of crossing guards. Gee I wonder why. They have little or no ability to control things other than report them. I contacted Ce Ce Gerlach about it a few times, she blew me off by passing the buck. The mayors office has been unresponsive. I contacted a couple of council candidates one blew me off twice, then when I bitched at him on the internet about it, he claimed he did check out 1 school but never told me the results or future plan. I offered a simple alternative to a council candidate who said she was looking into bussing kids to school. That would be extraordinarily expensive. My own child is now in middle school. Therefore I have no child in danger from this but I don't want to see any child's obituary in the paper because of something that can be handled but is being ignored
