You own views are appreciated, especially if they differ from mine. But remember, commenting is a privilege, not a right. I will delete personal attacks or off-topic remarks at my discretion. Comments that play into the tribalism that has consumed this nation will be declined. So will comments alleging voter fraud unless backed up by concrete evidence. If you attack someone personally, I expect you to identify yourself. I will delete criticisms of my comment policy, vulgarities, cut-and-paste jobs from other sources and any suggestion of violence towards anyone. I will also delete sweeping generalizations about mainstream parties or ideologies, i.e. identity politics. My decisions on these matters are made on a case by case basis, and may be affected by my mood that day, my access to the blog at the time the comment was made or other information that isn’t readily apparent.
Thank you Bernie we need this kind of reminder.
ReplyDeleteI served in the Air Force during the 1970 until the 1990s. After the end of the Vietnam war, we were short of everything. But also, we were in a weak, demoralized state under Carter. When Reagan took command, it was like a breath of fresh air. We can but hope that President Trump will inspire the same, because if history tells us anything, it's that there are future Pearl Harbors waiting for us.
ReplyDeleteUnfortunately, you are right. The world is a scary place. Frankly, I feel Clinton was better equipped to handle it than Trump, but I like where he is going with the call from Taiwan and his selection of the warrior monk as his Sec'y of Defense. Obama was incredibly weak, and other countries walked all over us as a result. I am impressed that Trump has suddenly reversed that process. And let them think he's nutz.
ReplyDeleteDr. Kissinger discussed your last sentence at some length as to its utility in foreign relations and military affairs, Bernie.
ReplyDeleteAnd Machiavelli too in a way, saying, "It's better to be feared than to be loved."
Bernie,
ReplyDeletemy father was over there when this attack took place, he had also worked for the Bethlehem Steel. The people of that time had a aged old saying, rather have a hand held high in victory than a hand out on the backs and lives of others. It was a simple time as well as much like today poverty and urban blight taking over inner city's because much money was spent on raising the familie that inhabited this region. Most were one boy and one girl families of today there was large amounts of children in one household!
These people known as the rustbelt REvivalists are just going through the effects of the many generations and robbing and pilliaging TRUSTS and Grants set up by inhabitants families for the trying times we are in now, I am very sure from my studies that these monies set aside were not in anyway to be used for adult entertainment but for childrens joy and entertainment as well as seeing the beauty of things other than concrete and asphalt.
There is a nother saying from that era, "You must Stand For Somthing or You Will Fall For Anything. This is were the carnival circus snakeoil salespeople strike and there colurful banners and bright light divert attention for the moment when they strike like the venomious cobra and catch a human off guard to by the false sack o goods sold as a CURE all? Well we all see this has not worked in many years and the new modern social illZ facing the inhabitants are running rampant and is a war on Americn soil that they are winning by stealing and sell our childrensoulZ into addiction slavery?
The local political parasites have ther nuw catch line phrase that is, The perception of crime is just that a perception? Children are dying streets dayley and there is one baseline cause poverty is the main ingredient mixed with many variables of substances!
