You Down With EAP?

Norco's Finance Committee yesterday approved a $198,000 contract over a period of five years with Mazzitti and Sullivan to provide what HR Director Amy Trapp calls EAP. That is an employee benefit program that helps employee with personal problems like depression, grief or addiction issues that interfere with productivity. Trapp indicated that, in addition to helping employees, this program will reduce health care costs.

Mazzitti is one of nine companies that submitted proposals. Bob Werner groused that she did not provide the names and addresses of Lehigh Valley counselors used, but Trapp indicated there are likely several hundred of them.

Trapp: "You down with EAP?"

Council: "Yeah, you know me."

  1. You would not need this if you got rid of Brown, Allen, and Trapp because the morale would improve.

  5. Bernie good morning,
I thought the abreaviation was EAP, historically this person dealt with all employees. Employee assitance person, many different issues that may hinder employees productivity.

This new abreveation is a twist in a old concept that most industries that are now defunct or have been relocated and outsourced to third world countries that don't even pay a living wage let alone insure there employees with healthcare?

  11. We employees need an expanded EAP. Right now, there is only one counselor and I would refuse to see him if I needed assistance, due to having some insider info. Glad to see there will be more options in the future.
