A Part of America Died

Somebody killed a policeman today
And a part of America died...
A piece of our country he swore to protect
Will be buried with him at his side.
The beat that he walked was a battlefield, too,
Just as if he had gone off to war;
Though the flag of our nation won't fly at half-mast
To his name they will add a gold star.
The suspect that shot him will stand up in court
With counsel demanding his rights,
While a young, widowed mother must work for her kids
And spend many long, lonely nights.
Yes, somebody killed a policeman today...
Maybe in your town or mine,
While we slept in comfort behind our locked doors A cop put his life on the line.
Now his ghost walks the beat on a dark city street,
And he stands at each new rookie's side:
He answered the call . . . of himself he gave his all,
And a part of America died...

  1. The world and American have become very ugly and depressing. Hubris has opened a Pandora's box of problems. Those responsible are too proud to acknowledge, even to themselves that they the guilty parties.

  2. Once the Pandora's box has been opened, who will be able to stop this, These methods have been used before in Russian and Germany, the Alinsky playbook,"push from the top, push from the bottom". If you listen to what the activist Black Lives Matter people say, they are anarchists and communists. You can almost expect the "agent provocateurs " to arrive on the scene next. I doubt that Obama and Holder wanted blacks shooting police, but they opened it up and may not be able to stop this. Sadness for the police and the innocent people who may be caught in the middle of this madness.

  3. This was a tragedy. The hooky poem is in poor taste. Not everything needs an entertainment quotient.

  4. Anonymous cowards like you are in no position to judge taste. Your hate is what leads to what we have.

  5. 11:27,
Congratulations - your ass is showing but your head isn't. You really should take your head out once in awhile and view the real world.

  6. Found this,

    Roses are red
    Violets are blue
    You see hate in others
when you ignore it in you.

  8. There is so much hate from the extreme right wing. Your first posters can only point the fingers ate the President and those leftists as being to blame for this. Yet on the other hand if someone mentions a gun issue they are also the first to scream it is the person and their personal responsibility. It must be a nice reality to be able to flip flop your message from people influenced to do bad things by people you hate as opposed to people acting on their own if it furthers your agenda.,

As they speak hatefully of others, they point out the others hate and totally miss their own biases and hatred. It is a fascinating study in cultural sociology.

  9. You are neither intellectual nor curious. You are a troll who posts vicious comments anonymously, and are just as disgusting as any gun nut.

  10. I spend a good amount of time as a "gun nut" training regular people how to safely own and use firearms. I don't encounter or see hatred. The vitriol from the gun hating faction (anti self-reliance) is staggering.

An animal just killed 84 people in France with a truck. As soon as our leadership and their sheeple admiration committees get over the "far right" and the "gun nuts" they may come to the realitization that this is not about guns, it's about true freedom. Our freedoms are being eroded in the name of partisan ideology.

  11. So, here we go again. An election is coming up, and Hillary Clinton can’t afford to lose the black vote. After all she's an old white woman, not a black guy like Obama whom blacks can look to for "hope and change". What better way to ensure allegiance to Hillary other than to fabricate a false narrative of wholesale murder, support it with infuriating lies and half-truths that will eventually be dispelled too late to make a difference, and step back while the inevitable violence escalates?

Obama can claim to support police because he mouths words to that effect, while actually throwing his entire support behind the radicals, whose leaders he entertains at the White House, and whose actions he enables by faulting the police for his loyalists’ violence and murder.

Obama can claim to have the cops’ backs, while elevating Al Sharpton, and holding planning conferences with professional agitators, protestors and anarchists, as he has done throughout his presidency, whether during the “Occupy” phase, or the Ferguson phase, or now.
