Dear Easton Area School Board

According to The Morning Call, an indoor farm is coming to an old factory building on Easton's south side. But there's a catch. There's outstanding real estate taxes in the amountof about $3,300 standing in the way of a $4.5 million investment. No worries. Donna Taggart, who has made a living by bleeding local government as a "consultant," has prepared a letter to the Easton Areas School District.

Dear Easton Area School Board:

I am working on a $4.5 million project that will convert a vacant mill into an exciting vertical urban farm complex. But here's my problem, I need you to waive $3,380 in penalties on outstanding real estate taxes. My motto is when planning to do multi-million dollar projects, every thousand dollars is important. Can you help?

  4. They have not. A tax farmer is interested only in its own bottom line, not the people. The government uses these predators to perform what are, in effect, shakedowns, hurting people who areout of jobs or facing major health issues.

  6. From what I understand, the developer is willing to pay the gross amount in back taxes, and is only looking for the penalties to be waived. From the ET article on 6/22/16: "The letter asked the school district to waive $3,380.81 in penalties for unpaid school taxes by the former property owner. Southern Cross vows to pay the $38,278 in delinquent taxes, but asked the school board to waive the penalties."

  7. I don' t get this, today there was a whole page of county sheriff sales, and not one of those names in the list that LVL compiled was in the paper. Bernie, the deadbeats that shake down homeowners is a complex arrangement documented in the Fannie Mae service manual and Fannie Mae Charter. David Dayen just wrote a book called Chain of title documenting the pervasive fraud that has bankrupted the political subdivisions and ransacked the middle class into extinction. Without a firm foundation the structure is going to crack - and from where I am sitting I see major tremors and earthquakes -- Oh and I remember Larry from when I was the secretary in the Assessment division. And that is at least 25 years ago and they still haven't gone after his estate.

  10. Rudy, congrats. In an era where LVL usually has it FOURTH behind mcall, wfmz and the bloggers thanks for pointing out one of the rare instances where you had it first.

One thing is for certain though, you NEVER have it BEST.
