Hillary barely won Iowa, amid suggestions of voting irregularities. She was crushed in NH. Yet, she and Sanders are tied in the delegate count because of arcane rules involving super delegates. Do these same rules apply in PA and every state? The Democratic Party doesn't seem very democratic. The Republican delegate count looks consistent with Iowa and NH results. What gives?

You had previously accused Republicans of dragging out the removal of Kathleen Kane for political purposes. Well, guess what? The Senate took a vote on Wednesday. Almost every Republican voted to remove her. Almost every Democrat voted against removing her. Now who is stalling?
Blogger's Reply: What happened in the Senate proves exactly what I am saying. If Republicans wanted to remove Kane, they would have impeached her by now. But instead, they chose a weaker route, knowing it wold fail. But now, the Rs can blame Democrats for refusing to vote for Kane's removal.Dems can be called partisan, etc., ans will be tied to her until the election is over. Once that happens, Kane will be impeached. Democrats played right into the Republican strategy. The smarrtest thing Dems could have done is themselves demand Kane's ouster.

Is the "new" Bethlehem City Council so shell-shocked that they won't even approve a feasibility study for a bus deport when a few residents speak up? Probably not, they just wanted to screw Karner and make her look bad, just as they always do.
This Council is just more of the same. They approved the Benner building over the protests of the goofy Lehigh professors. So much for hope and change.

Comments that play into the tribalism that has consumed this nation will be declined. So will comments alleging voter fraud unless backed up by concrete evidence. If the Republicans would have attempted to impeach Kane, I have no doubt that you would have blamed them for "political grandstanding" for benefit in this electoral cycle. Let's look at in the right way - the Democrats are the ones playing politics here. They are mindlessly trying to defend their own to keep this from becoming a bigger political issue, and are hoping voters won't pay attention. They're making a choice to rip the Band-Aid off slowly and prolong the pain rather than taking it off quickly.

SC polls indicate Sanders easily winning the vote total and easily losing the delegate total. He's all about sharing the wealth, however, and should be OK with losing the nomination this way.

I have just begun studying more about the development of "Super Delegates" involved in modern elections. Evidently, the major political parties, Democrat and Republican, have created a large panel of privileged "masterminds" who have greater control over picking the eventual nominee. Greater voting power than regular delegates, and certainly superior to any lowly citizen in the voting booth.
ReplyDeleteI do not fully understand this device at the moment, but persons connected to both major parties have been quoted saying, it is virtually impossible for Hillary to be defeated by Sanders. In other words, despite having only two statewide elections, it's already OVER, and Hillary is assured the final nomination.
For example, despite being totally demolished by Sanders in New Hampshire, Hillary was awarded more convention delegates to the convention. Supposedly, this device is even MORE skewed in Hillary's favor for future state Primaries.
On the Republican side, some are claiming Trump can easily be defeated by party bosses at their convention.
Seems to me, the voice of we "little people" is growing less important. That can't be good. Is the "everything is rigged" crowd actually correct?
Someone with more knowledge of this matter, please clarify.

Hillary wins even though she loses. Super-delegates prove that the fix is in; the creeping Clinton coronation is actually in full swing.
ReplyDeleteLikewise, the debates on television are really a complete sham. All they are extended political commercials peppered with softball questions.
Apparently untroubled, debate handshaking Bernie comfortably plays his role in this "Democratic" farce that guarantees Hillary the nomination.

I understand the media being biased and untrustworthy. It's their choice. Just look at the Morning Call. I'll no longer be posting there after reading the latest nonsense from its senior employee, Bill White. Could be, each news syndicate is hoping to be selected as our "officially approved" government source of information.
Yesterday, we had a heinous attack by a Somali Muslim in Ohio. We might have been told "some" of that story and other past attacks. Both Google and Facebook are engaging in censorship, and many traditional news outlets no longer accept reader comments.
It's time to be concerned, fellow citizens. Blogs like this are critical.

Why doesn't BT explore purchasing development rights from Green Pond? Upper Saucon tried to with locust valley. Look at the financials of purchasing the development rights vs. having to provide up front and ongoing infrastructure and services for X amount more homes. It's likely a financial argument can be made.

The constitution never really gave you a vote. Your beloved "founding father" had you vote for "electors" whom could vote for the person they wanted to. Also for much of our history senators were elected by state houses to ensure the states kept their rights.

ReplyDeleteRon, An earlier overture from the County was unsuccessful. Daub wants more money than the County is willing to pay. Moreover, a majority of the board may very well favor development, The only Commissioner who I am sure is opposed is Tom Nolan. Malissa Davis ran on this and other issuers, but since her election, has abandoned nearly everything she ran on. So I am unsure whether she would vote for TOA at thus juncture, and Jenkins appears to be tied at the hip to Hudak and Breslin.

ReplyDeleteSenator Bob Casey, has also been teaming up with the Obama admin the Obama EPA and the wolf admin, to detroy what little is left of the Pennsylvania coal industry.
In fact the same Bob Casey , along with Gov Wolf are praising the feds for giving the state millions in grants to be used for dispalced coal workers.
Why how did the coals workers become displaced/lose their jobs? The real issue is that the feds along with wolf and Casey are the ones who agreed to the scam that cost the workers their jobs in the first place. So the govts, on state and federal level set in forth a plan that has been costing coal workers their jobs, but now , we should all jump for joy that have grant cash to give the workers who lost their job bc of their games. Govt in all its glory.
Energy production jobs in other states, particularly West Virginia, are also being destroyed. Clean coal production has come a long way over the past decade, and our nation has a several hundred year supply of this resource right here. None of this seems to matter with the current administration.

The main story for the latest GOP "debate" was anger and passion. Does this help or hurt the GOP's prospects in November?
ReplyDeleteLet's wrap up this summary. "Liar" and "lie" were thrown around often enough.
Rubio is the comeback kid; he went on the attack, but he was not as aggressive as Trump vs. Cruz vs. Bush. Jeb left Rubio alone (wisely).
Trump dominates with his aggression and anger.
Cruz showed the same debate skills, particularly when he went on the attack against Trump, and then the gloves came off.
Bush was strong, especially when he attacked Trump.
Who won? If anger and fluster are the yardstick, then Trump won.
If strength of language without all the anger that Trump showed is the criterion, then Rubio won, with a close second to either Cruz or Bush.
Bottom line: Rubio did what he had to do, so the laurels go to him.
Did it really matter? Probably not.
How are we helping out all of the displaced asbestos workers?

Coal is dirty 19th century energy source. Coal workers need to find modern jobs. What did the asbestos workers do?
Spend the Oil & Gas profits not taxpayer money to "protect" the workers. Use the PROFITS not the taxes.
