Bethlehem Mayor Bob Donchez' State of the City

Below is the "State of the City" Address delivered by Bethlehem Mayor Bob Donchez this morning at the Steelstacks. According to the Mayor, the City has a five-year deficit of $17.7 million. The biggest draw on the $73.7 million budget  is salaries and benefits for 610 full-time employees.

Updated 10:40 am, 2/19: An earlier version of this story stated that $73.7 million was spent on salaries, and is inaccurate. I apologize for the factual error.

  6. 3 million is the projected deficit for 2017, it will be 4 or 5 million by the time budget season comes along. And I don't trust anyone on council to make cuts. Too many new guys without experience. Brong will pull the wool over their eyes.
