Sands Leads Pa. Casinos in 2015 Table Games Revenue

Bethlehem Sands led all Pennsylvania casinos in table games revenue, according to a report released by the state gaming board. It raked in $214 million, which is a 13.4% jump over the previous year. Overall, Pennsylvania's casinos generated over $3.1 billion in revenue last year, the most money since casinos began operations in 2006.

Slots machine revenue at the Sands generated $299 million, a 6.6% revenue over 2014. Sands finished second among 12 casinos in slots revenue.

The Sands was also fined $36,000 for three instances last August in which persons under age 21 gained access to the gambling floor and gambled.

  1. Were gambling revenues to be earmarked for Pa Seniors or is this rumor incorrect? Thank you for any information.

Not to my knowledge. Lottery proceeds benefit seniors. Casino tax revenue was pitched as being used for property tax relief for all. But, that hasn't happened yet.

  3. 10:14,
Property tax was a lie pitched by the callahan clan and members of council to sway the vote to get the casino. The city gets at least $9 million a year from the casino. More depending on how well the casino does. Then there's all the grant money from the casino handed out to various supposedly impacted communities. Bethlehem has been known to get some of this candy also.

The past administration and current one (if you can call this ineptness an administration) are spending you tax relief on paying down debt, new toys, 6% pay raises for their employees and of course those cushy pensions and health benefits. This is while they also give you tax and fee increases every year.

So, you as one of the unwashed masses should be a good puppet who shuts up and pays you taxes while BASD and the teacher's union screws you every year also.

    Plain and simple.

  4. The local share while had good intentions, was heavily weighted to Northampton County, benefitting from Bethlehem Sands and Mount Airy. Let's face it, gaming in PA is a tightly held monopoly.

  5. Just shut up ,pay your school taxes or the teachers will sell your house.

  6. I wonder where Rendell, Callahan Boscola and the other democrats who promised property tax relief in exchange for the casino? now it appears the slant is...if we didn't have the casinos , your taxes would be climbing faster than ever. In other words, we will not make any cuts to our union sheep, their benefits, their salaries and so on. we will not piss off the teachers union and their goods good buddies on the school board, so they can keep hiking taxes and last but not least, the city govt/city council, will continue to spend like there is no tomorrow.
Isn't a big govt democrat just grand ? If you are unsure, just ask Allentown. That is unless the entire mayors democrat admin are thrown in jail and you wont get the chance to ask. Get the freaking govt out of the business of picking winners and mostly losers. If not, you will have Allentown on roids again.

  8. How many taxpayers are needed to support one (1) public employee? Take Allentown 18 days sick pay, 6 personal days, 25 vacation
Days, paid medical $1100 or more per month plus salary and retirement etc. Retire at 55.
Help me fill in the blanks in the benefit program for our hard working public servants!

  9. Annon 2:22 just made the Northampton County tea party argument. When asked what good was electing their teabagger candidates when they raised taxes 10% their first year and their darling wanted a 20% tax increase, they respond the Democrats would have ben worse. Taxed enough already indeed. Keep drinking the tainted tea.

    Sheep indeed!

  11. BINGO...Someone gets it !!!

Help me fill in the blanks in the benefit program for our hard working public servants! UNION SHEEP WONT LIKE YOUR COMMENTS BUT LETS LOOK AT THE BIGGER PICTURE.

BUT YOU ARE DEEMED A POS IF YOU EVEN RAISE THIS ISSUE.
YOU ARE TOLD THAT YOU HATE THE MIDDLE CLASS WORKING MEN AND WOMEN.
EVEN BETTER A TEACHER IN THE PUBLIC SCHOOL IS SUPPOSED TO WORK 188 DAYS A YEAR.
THIS SAME TEACHER GETS 4 WEEKS PAID VACTION, SICK DAYS, PERSONAL DAYS, AND SO ON.
SO TAKE YOUR 188 AND SUBTRACT ABOUT 25-40 PAID DAYS OFF INCLUDING ELECTION DAY...GO FIGURE .. THEY WORK ABOUT 150-160 DAYS A YEAR AND THEY HAVE THE NERVE TO STRIKE. When they go on strike, they are campaigning to steal more cash from your(the tax payers) savings.

LOL talk about fleecing the tax payers .NO NEED TO LOOK ANY FURTHER THAN YOUR PUBLIC SCHOOL TEACHERS...but we are told it is all for the kids. no it is for the union pensions . a teacher retires at 55-60 and we pay another 20-30 years of pension. in some cases we pay more years in pension than the teacher actually worked.

THE FLEECING OF THE TAX PAYER IS COMING TO A HEAD. DO A LITTLE RESEARCH ON THE UNFUNDED PENSION LIABILITIES OF THE TEACHERS AND PUBLIC WORKS UNION MEMBERS.
There is no way in God name it can ever be paid out. That is a fact. They can tax every single tax payer 100% over the next 50 years and it wont touch it...but hey, its for the kids....lol- yeah ok

  13. 10:44 Try to find another City in the Lehigh Valley to live in that has lower school taxes and city taxes than Bethlehem. You can't! Move to Allentown , the schools are much better there and the taxes are a lot higher.LOL. Your problem is that you want your property value to keep going up but you don't want to pay for great quality schools. Allentown and Easton have higher taxes and worse schools. Shut up or move!

  15. This justified law suit is merely the first volley in the battle to save Bethlehem.

It will be interesting down the road to see how the businesses of Bethlehem react to future elections. This Martin Tower issue is too big and too important to quickly be forgotten.

Both donchez, reynolds and other members of council have been tainted by their contributions and their unwillingness to listen to the very people who voted for them.

I would think that the business leaders would rally to run one of their own for mayor and the council seats as they come open. It would be refreshing to see people in these positions who actually care about the City instead of those who just care about the next election and the desires of special interest donors.

If this were to happen it would make sense to have a real business person, someone who has had to make their own livelihood by understanding P&L, as the city business administrator. Instead of having a untested political appointee it would benefit the entire city to have a seasoned professional economic development person.

There are many fine, hardworking and dedicated workers in City Hall. It is time to give them true and honest forward thinking professional leadership.

It is time for real transparency and leadership not this "Do as I say, not as I do" stumbling along that we are having to endure now. Then, and only then, will Bethlehem be saved and returned to her past glory.

  16. Note to politicians:
Many seniors do think gambling proceeds were to have helped them. Why not correct this misinformation.

  17. Probably 10 years ago now a small center city Bethlehem church invited residents and union spokespeople in favor of the casino and gambling to speak. The room was full and the union voices powerful.

Bethlehem seniors are losing their homes in record numbers because they on their small Social Security allotments cannot afford to pay the outrageous amounts of property tax.

  19. 7:49,

Donchez doesn't have to worry about the seniors. He already has his, a cushy teachers pension. He'll get more out of the city when we finally retire him plus social security. Give you tax relief? Why bother, he has his so just raise more taxes as the puppet council votes them in. Leadership or greed. You figure it out and use you vote to stop the gouging.

This is complete misinformation. My question is whether the poster is knowingly tellin a lie, or whether he is jut ignorant. In any event, I am going to post about gaming and how the money is spent.

  21. We need more buses of Old Age Pensioners from around teh area to come to the Sands for a free buffet lunch, and for them to put their Social Security Checks into the slot machines, the dice and the card games of The Sands.

In addition, they should also offer the scratch-off lottery tickets at every door, as well as in machines placed in every public place they can to give people their chance to be billionaires by using a quarter to scratch off a ticket.

After all, if you don't play, you can't win is the inducement they offer.

Gambling is a tax on the stupid. And it seems that there are a lot of stupid people that are willing to throw their grocery money away for their 1 in a billion chance to be rich.

  22. 8:04 Do some research and tell me another area where the school district millage rate and city/twp millage rate is lower. When you find one, move there . The fact is, you won't find one. BASD taxes and city taxes are both lower than Allentown, Easton and the surrounding Twps.
