Donald Trump is a national embarrassment yet the Fox News folks continue to provide him with a forum for his message. Sad situation.

If the City of Allentown's now former assistant solicitor (lawyer) freely admits to contract manipulation crimes & directly implicating Mayor Pawlowski, how can he still be mayor? Is he not a sure to be future convicted felon? Assuming there is a trial.

Can someone please help me with my math? This week we learned from Sy Traub that "Any way you look at it, the NIZ has been a good investment for the state." According to their own figures, the NIZ was generating 22 million dollars per year in 2011.
Let's assume, just for shits and giggles, that PA was working without a deficit at that point. So, in 2012, the NIZ returned just 2 million dollars to the state. OK, so by my count, that puts the state 20 million dollars in the hole compared to the year before, or, had they done nothing.
Looking at 2013, a better year, given the higher wage construction jobs, but, yet again, the NIZ falls short, this time returning 16.3 million. Again, my math tells me that for 2013, they are 5.7 million dollars in the hole. Add that to the 2012 count, that makes 25.7 million dollars in the hole.
2014? Slightly better, but still not as good as "pre-NIZ", returning 17.7 million, or 4.3 million in the hole for 2014, 30 million in the hole, worse off than we were in 2011.
And that's just "coming in". Then we have the "going out". Remember, its not like the state has a big pile of cash just sitting around, waiting to spend it on things, we actually had to borrow, are on the hook, to pay for the arena itself. 15.9 million per year. Hey, what's a few thousand, let's just round up to 16 million per year. Times 3. For 2012, 2013, 2014. Another 48 million dollars.
78 million dollars so far.
Now, what about the jobs that weren't in the NIZ, but were in Pennsylvania? Boyertown. Let's go ultra conservative here, say they were bringing in 1 million in taxes to the state in 2011. So add 3 million to the tally that isn't going to the state. Where are we, 81 million in the hole? After just 3 years.
How is this better? 81 million deficit vs. 0 deficit.
Mr. Browne? Mr. Schweyer? Mr. Schlossberg? Mr. Traub? Ms. Mann? Mr. Pawlowski? Mr. Frank? Mr. Wolfe? Ms. Hailstone?
Anyone?
Crickets?

as usual, nothing of any significance happened in Bethlehem this week. Did we actually pay the mayor?

Your silence on the Islamic Terrorist Attack in San Bernardino, California, is deafening, BO.
Blogger's Reply - This comment, posted by an anonymous asshole on several blog threads, is an attempt to attack me personally by stepping all over the dead bodies of those killed during the tragedy on the west coast. What I, a Lehigh Valley blogger, think about something I know little about, is of little import. So is the anonymous comment, which calls this senseless killing "Islamic" in order to justify religious intolerance. If you want to know what I think, it's that this rising tide of mass killing is proof that the only thing the NRA is good at is buying politicians, and the only thing they are good at is scaring people. To any sane person, these incessant killings demonstrate the need for much tighter gun controls to prevent insaniacs who write letters to the editor praising Rockne Newell from walking around armed.

You own views are appreciated, especially if they differ from mine. But remember, commenting is a privilege, not a right. I will delete personal attacks or off-topic remarks at my discretion. Comments that play into the tribalism that has consumed this nation will be declined. So will comments alleging voter fraud unless backed up by concrete evidence. If you attack someone personally, I expect you to identify yourself. I will delete criticisms of my comment policy, vulgarities, cut-and-paste jobs from other sources and any suggestion of violence towards anyone. I will also delete sweeping generalizations about mainstream parties or ideologies, i.e. identity politics. My decisions on these matters are made on a case by case basis, and may be affected by my mood that day, my access to the blog at the time the comment was made or other information that isn’t readily apparent.

ReplyDeleteSounds like The Woman With No Brain from West Easton. She is no doubt connected to her nightly IV vodka drip, and sucking down some yummy cocoa at this hour.

ReplyDeletePlease pull your head out - the air is nice out here. A "future felon" hasn't been convicted of anything, and can do whatever they do including mayor.

ReplyDeleteYou can't be serious. You're sillier than Farook's lawyers who said he was just a crazy county employee who was driven to murder 14 because another employee made fun of his beard. Is that what you think of county employees? The killer had no criminal record and would have passed 100 background checks - even in very restrictive California. He wasn't on the no-fly list, either. He also had a bomb making factory in his garage. Do we need "sensible" controls on pipes and nails and ball bearings and remote control toy cars? He and his lovely wife had been radicalized and communicating with terrorists who were known to the FBI. The FBI stated yesterday that this is a terrorism investigation. That's notable, since they still haven't classified the Chattanooga and Fort Hood atrocities as such. I'm frustrated by gun violence. But what sane person thinks another law will be the one that bad guys magically obey? The gun discussion regarding San Bernardino is a distraction from the gaping holes in our Visa program and the FBI's utter failure in this case to protect US citizens from radicalized Muslims in their midst. LV Muslims and CAIR were very quick to make statements condemning the attack and saying it was not a valid representation of Islam. Even they are not afraid to recognize terrorism in their midst and condemn it. I don't expect you to comment on non-local issues. But your take in this post is ridiculous and blind. You're evidence of what is described in this Washington Post opinion piece.
https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/wonk/wp/2015/12/03/what-gun-control-advocates-misunderstand-about-gun-owners/
Blaming the NRA for mass shootings is like blaming AAA for drunk driving. Gun laws do nothing to reduce violence. If gun laws worked as proposed Chicago would not be called Chiraq.
ReplyDeleteArmed resistance to mass shootings is a good start. I have yet to learn that there has ever been a mass shooting at a gun show and there are guns everywhere. Islam is not a religion but a political movement masquerading as a religion. Calling me racist or xenaphobic as a way to dilute my concern provides cover and strength for that which seeks to destroy us.
I have no problem with any political movement as long as their followers are not actively engaged in violence to suppress those who fail to subscribe to their beliefs. I believe that's why they consider us infidels.
Arm everyone. Every man, woman and child. You are never too young to own and carry a gun. AK 47s, shoulder launched missles everywhere. Barrooms especially. Open carry. This infantile obsession with the need to own a gun suggests a vacuousness of large rifle size proportions. Imagine life before guns? Impossible. The right to bear sticks and clubs ....

DeleteThe comment above about NIZ reporting sounds like something I would have written. Although I did not write the opinion above, I share the writer's disillusionment and agree his/her accounting is much more accurate than what we have been given.
ReplyDeleteThat the NIZ is actually a financial failure for Pennsylvania taxpayers does not surprise me. There was ample evidence it would be before the first shovel of dirt was raised. More troubling is media reporting of this failed enterprise.
This is a clear example, just because you read/see something in the news doesn't make it right. Today, it's less about news and more about PROPAGANDA. THIS kind of loss for society is greater than any funding black hole, like our own NIZ district.
The Morning Call and other traditional information sources should be embarrassed by their service to the public.

ReplyDeleteThe radical wife sailed in on a VISA. Her application listed a nonexistent address in Pakistan. We're talking about more gun control that will never happen and ignoring the global mobilization of Islamic radicals in response to the declaration of the caliphate in Iraq and Syria.
ReplyDeleteWhen Pawlowski is formally arraigned on corruption charges, will he be forced to resign immediately?
ReplyDeleteHow does one sleep at night knowing that the next knock on the door could be federal agents?
I believe that there are a few things missing from your "equation". First, what of the footprint for the new palace that used to be subject to property tax, but now, since it is owned by a quasi-government agency, is no longer subject to that property tax? How many millions get added to the loss?
ReplyDeleteAnd, then there is the millions mentioned to pay the developers so that they can pay back their debt. You totally forgot about that. I don't know about anyone else, but I like something tangible (a fire truck, a school, some street lights) in return for my taxes. What exactly does the taxpayer get in return? I mean, wouldn't it have been smarter to have the taxpayers own the buildings? At least then, when it comes time to sell, the taxpayer gets a return on their investment.
Also this week we learned that ANIZDA has to start squirreling away the money that they collect, because, wait for it...unlike the real world...the rent payments on the arena are actually set to go DOWN (you know, a landlord always decreases the rent in the real world) as the years progress.
As for the media picking up on any of this? Why would they? The MC has been in the tank since the get go. WFMZ got a new studio, plus broadcast rights out of the deal (hell, they even went so far as prefacing a story on Pawlowski with "the mayor agreed to speak to us about this subject as long as we didn't ask any questions about the ongoing investigation". So much for journalism. Service Electric? In it up to their eyeballs, you'll only hear cheering.
"Arm everyone. Every man, woman and child. You are never too young to own and carry a gun. AK 47s, shoulder launched missles everywhere. Barrooms especially. Open carry. ReplyDeleteThe politics of fear, brought to us by the NRA and the tea party. I remember when the NRA used to preach things like gun safety and responsible gun ownership.
Meanwhile, Republicans blocked a bill yhat would have prevented suspected terrorists on the "do not fly list" from purchasing assult rifles. What am I missing here.
ReplyDelete"Blaming the NRA for mass shootings is like blaming AAA for drunk driving. Gun laws do nothing to reduce violence. If gun laws worked as proposed Chicago would not be called Chiraq. "
ReplyDeleteIf the AAA acting like the NRA, they would be out there insisting that people need no licenses to drive and that any attempt to impose a licensing requirement is an infringement of the constitutional right to privacy, right to be free from unreasonable searches and right to travel freely in interstate commerce. The AAA would bankroll politicians who would vote to get rid of constitutional infringements like stop signs and red lights. Chicago is not called Chiraq. That is the name of a movie by Spike Lee, based on a play by Aristophanes. And there is evidence that gin control laws like buy backs do work. They have worked in Australia.
No one should be able to own a gun without first undergoing a psychological evaluation. People who write LTEs endorsing Rockne Newell or those kinds of mass shootings should be automatically disqualified. I would also support a law allowing the seizure of someone's guns based on a sworn affidavit that the gun owner presents a danger to the community. If, after a hearing, it is determined that the complaint is unfounded, the complaining party would be assessed costs. The law would work like a PFA.
" The killer had no criminal record and would have passed 100 background checks - even in very restrictive California"
ReplyDeleteI doubthe would have passed a psychological profile.

UH ..That's called liberal math .
only in govt would this be considered a success. in real business , people get fired for this garbage.
when a majority of the people who vote in Allentown could careless about taxes bc they don't pay them, this will happen.
when the govt caters to the takers , rather than the makers or all people, this is what happens.
when your voting base is made up of many uninformed voters, this is what happens.
when the People allow and permit this govt to get out of control, this is bound to happen.
O'Hare, you are a PICS/NICS fail because the court declared you mentally unfit....as such, if I cant have one, no one can
ReplyDeleteROFLMAO
Tricia Mezzacappa is referring to that part of my '85 suspension order in which the court indicated I was suffering from a physical and mental disease and would have to provide proof i overcame that disease. At that time, the stigma surrounding alcoholism was much greater than it is today. That is the disease to which the court referred. I certainly would pass a PICS/NICS check and did earlier this very week. I think everyone who wants to possess a firearm should be required to take gun safety courses and should submit a psychological evaluation that should be updated from time to time. There is no doubt in my mind you would fail.

"The politics of fear, brought to us by the NRA and the tea party. I remember when the NRA used to preach things like gun safety and responsible gun ownership". and the last time you attended the NRA meetings was when?
ReplyDeletethe NRA and some of their members teach your police about gun safety , shooting , and other things associated with gun ownership and operation.
In fact some NRA members instruct/supervise the local high schools shooting teams down in Hellertown.
I remember when the govt on all levels respected and adhered to the Constitution. If they didn't like things , they amended the Constitution. today, "I have a pen and a phone is the way laws are created". today we have unelected bureaucrats literally creating laws.
Who is the elected leader of the Tea Party bc I would love to send him/her an email. We know obama is the leader of the democrats/socialist party. God only knows who is the elected leader of the GOP mess.I don't remember seeing a political party called the Tea party on the ballot in November, but I am old and could be wrong.
What does the tea Party stand for? What are the goals of the Tea Party. I just found a few goals of the Tea Party online.
The Tea party DOES NOT support open borders , like the gop establishment and the democrats/socialists and an ever flowing river of illegals in the country?
The Tea Party SUPPORTS govt responsibility accountability? Is that a bad thing?
The Tea party supports following the Constitution. Is that a bad thing?
The Tea party supports a smaller and more efficient govt? Is that a bad thing?
I remember when these were noble and honorable goals expected and appreciated by all Americans. If they didn't like the laws, they amended the laws to make things better.
I remember when the People actually has a say via their votes , in regards to who was selected and elected to represent the People.
Can you actually say with a straight face the democrats and the GOP have been good for the country over the last 100 plus years?
Can you honestly say that any party , other than the Dems and GOP are responsible for the mess we have today?
Can you honestly claim that the govt works for all People?
Can you honestly say the govt represents the People?
Can you honestly say that the govt today, is not only dysfunctional beyond belief, but they are also criminal in how they operate. (No need to look any further then the Lehigh Valley to see this).
We are told by our friends, our family, our co workers, the media and the politicians on both sides , that the Tea Party is a joke and astro turf.
If the Tea party is such a joke, why does everyone pay attention and continually attack the Tea Party.
That is the problem. There is no set of real ideals or platform. It can mean some things to some people, and other things to others. There are some who rely on it for educational purposes and who are strict constructionists. But that ids not really what the tea party stands for. In the final analysis, it stands for nothing. In the final analysis, it plays on the fears of people and encourages the basest human emotions out there, including racism, religious intolerance and xenophobia. In many ways, it stands against the First Amendment and relies upon a tortured interpretation of the Second Amendment. Locally, it is a group that protested against children, wearing gas masks.
ReplyDeleteIt is agreed that the mainstream parties have been a disaster. But from there, it does not logically follow that the tea party must therefore be a Godsend. I view it as the party of a selfish generation and an off shoot of the Know Nothings who rioted in the streets of NYC during the Civil War, hanging a few blacks in the process. You are the latest version of Animal Farm.
Oink away.
One of Tricia Mezacappa's tiresome and OT personal attacks has been deleted. When she runs out of arguments, and that happens pretty quickly, she resorts to the ad hominems.
ReplyDeleteI favor the psych profile. The ACLU fights the idea as a HIPA violation. The guy was a county employee of the month at one point. He probably would've passed a psych evaluation. Radicalization can happen quickly. The FBI was monitoring the groups he and the woman were associating with. We need to look at what went wrong at the FBI level. We also need to ask why the neighbor wouldn't report his suspicions over the strange activities of the middle easterners on his block for fear of being called a racist profiler.
ReplyDeleteEnd of regulation Easton - 28 / NDGP 26. Too bad. It was a good year.
ReplyDeleteDoes anyone in the Lehigh Valley really know how to think in a logical fashion that maintains some objectivity? Seems like idiots come in all flavors.
ReplyDeleteTis sad.
Sadly semi-automatic large capacity weapons like the eR-15 are readily available in America. If your state is too restrictive drive to the next state and buy it. At the end of the day we really don't need some of these weapons just as we don't need anti-tank and grenade launchers. Of course their are numerous cause of such violence but we need to get serious about some of these weapons. I agree with Bernie on the NRA I was a life member but quit when they became a radicalized organization working for the weapon manufacturers.
ReplyDeleteA real gun owner who hunts.

Every time liberals scream for more gun laws, sales skyrocket. The NICS system is so busy it's crashed a couple of times today. Black Friday was the biggest sales day in industry history. Today's front page advertisement for gun sales in the NYT was quite a boost. The last time NYT published an editorial opinion on the front page was ... yesterday.
ReplyDeleteEven if all guns in America are eliminated, guns will be brought in across our porous border. We already have truckloads of drugs and illegal people passing through all the time. Fix that, and we'll STILL have to worry about frying pans and rolling pins. Both have been used to kill MANY times.
ReplyDeleteFred Windish
Hey Fred how many times has a lone rolling pin armed man killed multiple victims?
ReplyDelete"The politics of fear, brought to us by the NRA and the tea party"
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely without question. Fear, hate and paranoia have always playa dwell. They preach and eat it to obscene levels.
I said this earier' the shooter's were amateurs. Well folks the kill and injury ratio on the number of rounds fired was less than 25 PERCENT. -- to keep this issue of world events in perspective - in EGYPT ON THE SAME day 12 or 13 were killed by a petrol bomb in a night club .I said people I would shoot with on the Governor's 20 would have killed these charters with no wasted ammo. Authorities almost 300 rounds in this issue. only killed two people.WE need law enforcement trained to a higher level and we are not doing so .
ReplyDeleteThe NRA was instrumental in training during the Second WW2 - the NRA is full of folks that 'give way' to the general public. If you were to be at an NRA convention ,next is Louisville ,KY you would find the nicest people you ever met, unless you have been to the OSHKOSH Air Show. They get 1 million folks at Oshkosh that don't theft or act like wack jobs, if fack with all these people NO -LITTER how can this be.all these people and no crime or litter. . They are so nice there ,one would wish that -it should be like like back home.--Well the NRA Conventions are the same way without airplanes-but firearms-- NO crime ,no hijacking of cars , no hold ups in hotel parking lots - people hold doors for elderly and they respect each other.
ReplyDeleteO'Hare is not a crazy crepe-anon 640-as you categorize him, HE - is not perfect but you and I are not also. He is intelligent, you and I may not be,but you are being belligerent. I am sometimes aggressively and or antagonistically aggressive and with a MARINE mentality that he hates, but I will defend his right to publish his blog, even though he thinks less of me than you do.
ReplyDeletePeter, Thanks for your defense, but I deleted her.
ReplyDeletePlease get that Forced Entrance Order ASAP. This crazed West Easton squatter in your property is really off the rail lately. Ask the neighbors. This scares me more than Islamists.
ReplyDeleteToday was the busiest day for gun sales in US history. The NRA is enjoying its highest registration day in history. If liberals are serious about gun control, come and take them. Start the legislayive process and endure the slings and arrows of the fight. What are you waiting for? Come and take them.
ReplyDeleteHey BOH , you know what is more sad than Trump? That would be your dear leader, obama . Obama is the biggest national security threat this nation had to to endure in 200 plus years.
ReplyDeleteWasn't it obama who claimed the GOP was afraid of orphans and widows/ women?
Wasn't it obama who claimed that ISIS was contained ? Then the killed hundreds in France.
Wasn't it obama who claimed ISIS was the Jayvee team? Since then , they have earned their varsity letters and now have the largest terror group in the history.
Wasn't it obama who refused to engage ISIS and their main source of cash flow , bc he was concerned about bombing the oil tankers and oil fields bc of environmental issues and the best reason ever, bc the drivers of the tankers did not wear ISIS /enemy uniforms. What uniform does ISIS wear
Wasn't it obama who claimed 34 times in public, if you like your doc and your plan you can keep them.
Wasn't it obama who traded 5 terrorist commanders for a shitbird deserter with out consulting with congress?
Wasn't it obama who attacked all law enforcement ? Police act stupidly was one of his comments.
Wasn't it obama who restarted the cold war?
Wasn't it obama who gave the largest state sponsor of terrorism 150 billion dollars and the green light to keep nuking up?
Wasn't it obama who turned the IRS and the NSA into the KGB?
Wasn't it obama who doubled the national debt in 6 short years ?
Wasn't it under obama where we saw the highest percentage of people out of the work force in over 40 plus years?
Wasn't it under obama /executive order we saw million of illegals flood the country with more coming as we speak today?
Wasn't it obama who wasted billions of tax payer dollars on companies like solyndra and light squared just bc their owners were campaign bundlers?
Wasn't it under the obama admin we have seen fort hood terrorist attacks called work place violence?
wasn't it under obama we saw a grand mother in Oklahoma get her head chopped off by a radicalized muslim .
Wasn't it under obama we saw the biggest terrorist attack on US soil since 9-11-01
Wasn't it under obama we saw his EPA destroying the coal industry, driving up the cost of electricity.
Wasn't it under obama we had Edward Snowden do his thing as well as Bradly Manning ?
Wasn't it under obama we had the FCC literally take over the net in the near future.
Wasn't it under obama we saw over 7000 felons released from prison with out notifying the local communities?
Wasn't it under obama we saw the number of people on food stamps literally Quadruple?
Wasn't it under obama we saw the student loan program get totally hijack by the federal govt?
Wasn't it under obama we saw the black panthers literally threaten people in Philly at the voting booths and not be held accountable?
Wasn't it under obama we saw massive waste fraud and corruption in Vets Admin to point where the so called leadership had to be removed and to this day nothing has changed?
Wasn't it under obama where we saw the first family rack up over 100 million dollars in family vacation spending, and still climbing, compliments of the US tax payers, date nights, trips to Chicago , all while we are in the great recession?
Wasn't it under obama we saw federal agents and hundreds, possibly thousand get killed in the US and Mexico due to a misguided program called Fast and Furious,. which was initially denied by holder ., obama and his entire admin.
Wasn't it under obama , the house and senate gained the most GOP seats in history?
AND DONALD TRUMP IS THE PROBLEM? NAME ONE PROBLEM TRUMP CREATED TO GET THE COUNTRY IN THE MESS WE ARE IN TODAY? CRICKETS.I am no fan of Trump. In fact I despise him.
Too bad you refuse to focus on the real issue , which is liberalism. Keep attending your democratic fund raisers thrown by local attorneys, police admin, for judges and other elected officials. then tell us how horrible Trump is.
I don't think "liberalism" is a problem any more than "conservatism" is a problem. You are obviously not a regular reader. I am no fan of Obama and have been highly critical of him, not only domestically but on foreign policy as well. Ther problem is people like you - extremists along both side of the ideological divide who are part of the ME society who only think of themselves.
ReplyDeleteYou want me to name one problem Trump has created. He has held no office. That's like demanding that you tell me one problem that I've created. You are so full of hatred that it's pointless trying to reason with you. Go wear a gas mask and clean your gun. What really needs cleaning is your head.
11:00 AM lol that's all you have ? weak as expected . Hanging blacks BOH. your party was well versed in that area. in fact your party was well versed in slavery , the KKK and doing everything possible to not pass a civil rights act until it was forced to do so. George Wallace, Robert Byrd, Bull Conner, Woodrow Wilson. All real champs of civil rights ..eh Bern
ReplyDeleteHistory reveals that every piece of racist legislation that was ever passed and every racist terrorist attack that was ever inflicted on African Americans, was initiated by the members of the Democratic Party.
From the formation of the Democratic Party in 1792 to the Civil Rights movement of 1960's, Congressional records show the Democrat Party passed no specific laws to help Blacks, every law that they introduced into Congress was designed to hurt blacks in 1894 Repeal Act. The chronicles of history shows that during the past 170 years the Democratic Party legislated Jim Crows laws, Black Codes and a multitude of other laws at the state and federal level to deny African Americans their rights as citizens.
History reveals that the Republican Party was formed in 1854 to abolish slavery and challenge other racist legislative acts initiated by the Democratic Party.
During the Senate debates on the Ku Klux Klan Act of 1871, it was revealed that members of the Democratic Party formed many terrorist organizations like the Ku Klux Klan to murder and intimidate African Americans voters. The Ku Klux Klan Act was a bill introduced by a Republican Congress to stop Klan Activities. Senate debates revealed that the Klan was the terrorist arm of the Democratic Party.
Congressional records show it was Democrats that strongly opposed the passage of the 13th, 14th and 15th Amendments. These three Amendments were introduced by Republicans to abolish slavery, give citizenship to all African Americans born in the United States and, give Blacks the right to vote.
Congressional records show that Democrats were opposed to passing the following laws that were introduced by Republicans to achieve civil rights for African Americans:
Civil Rights Act 1866- Reconstruction Act of 1867- Freedman Bureau Extension Act of 1866- Enforcement Act of 1870- Force Act of 1871- Ku Klux Klan Act of 1871- Civil Rights Act of 1875- Civil Rights Act of 1957- Civil Rights Act of 1960
And during the 60's many Democrats fought hard to defeat the 1964 Civil Rights Act- 1965 Voting Rights Acts- 1972 Equal Employment Opportunity Act
Court records shows that it was the Democrats that supported the Dred Scott Decision. The decision classified Blacks and property rather than people. It was also the racist Jim Crow practices initiated by Democrats that brought about the two landmark cases of Plessy v Ferguson and Brown v. The Board of Education.
Wake the hell up and do your readers a service by reporting the facts on your democrat party. and stop trying to "hang" the countries problems on others.
this video might assist you and your readers you like to mislead bc it is the "cool" thing to do.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xryXpK042pQ
This discussion was about gun control, not whether Democrats were racists. Those racist Dems, most from the South, incidentally, are now Republicans. Funny how you don't mention that inconvenient truth. Stick to the topic. It is not Obama, "liberalism" or your obvious hatred of Democrats.
ReplyDeleteAny speculation if the boy representatives schlossberg & schweyer will get charged in some way? I mean they are both former city council pawlowski puppets.
ReplyDeleteI would be very hesitant to employ a guilt by association standard. I don't like what I see in Schlossberg's campaign finances, but think you need much more to justify even an insinuation.
ReplyDeleteBernie anon 10:44 is just a cut and paste job from some hate site. Good grief. Annon 11:09 is probably the, same person. Much of their "historical" information is as inaccurate as it is warped.
ReplyDeleteExample,"History reveals that the Republican Party was formed in 1854 to abolish slavery and challenge other racist legislative acts initiated by the Democratic Party." What history, the history of OZ? Yes, the Democratic Party of 1860 was not opposed to slavery in any way. Especially in the south where it was most prevalent, as the Whigs had been the more prevalent party of the North. The fact is the new Republican Party did grow out of not only dissatisfaction with the Whigs but also the belief that slavery should not extend into the new western territories becoming states. It did not call for the end of slavery or acknowledging the equality of blacks. You have them confused with the abolitionists. Even Abraham Lincoln did not call for the abolition of slavery in southern states but did not want it to extend into the new territories. In fact in passing the 13th amendment, it only passed with Republican votes because the wording did not claim backs and whites were equal, only that they were equal in the eyes of the law. Most whites of both parties never considered blacks to be racially equal to whites. Certainly including most Presidents, including Wilson who grew up in the south.
Isn't "real" history fun? Of course it means you have to work at getting all the facts out there and not just the cherry-picked ones your teabagger websites feed you.
Good lord people, use your God given brains and think for yourselves. You are entitled to your own opinions just not your own facts.
Please Bernie, help me out here with some solid information. I realize this was not your intent on this entry but this hate and non-history-history is getting out of hand.
Frustration and Sadness!
You have to agree, 5:35 AM, the 10:44 post, according to you, probably written the same person, is a pretty solid accounting. It summarizes a failed administration. An incompetent stewardship of this nation by individuals known to promote liberal and socialist values.
ReplyDeleteThis is a difficult time for everyone who believed today's American 'scorecard' would be better after following the liberal/socialist agenda for seven years. But, THIS IS NOT ABOUT PARTY! All of politics has had a hand in losing control of this country.
My message is, turn out the entire lot in Washington! The growing appeal of Donald Trump, despite being constantly bombarded by a biased media and proponents of BOTH parties, tells me Americans are screaming ENOUGH! That Trump is NOT a typical Washington player is his greatest strength. Trump is revealing the hypocrisy and failure of most everyone in place!
I haven't decided who I will eventually vote for. It's very early. I DO know it won't be one of the current three Democratic candidates. If Dems have someone better on the bench, it's time to put that person in play.
But, you can call me a 'hater,' a 'fearmonger,' etc. That's the typical reaction, so enjoy! Besides, I do hate where our nation is right now, and I want it fixed.
We're both frustrated and sad, it seems.

Apologies for above post not mentioning the issue of gun control. I'll add now, more gun control, even so much control that it leads to elimination of all guns, will NOT prevent these types of acts from happening. They are many ways to inflict harm on many people. One example being pipe bombs.
ReplyDeleteThe best solution to our problems is not always more government control over our lives.
If bad people believe they will be confronted by 'better' people with the same capability to harm those who initiate an attack, incidents like San Bernardino and Paris will be equally discouraged.

5:35, Much of the Obama criticism or comments about Dems are true. I don't have the time or inclination to go thru the misinformation that is there, too. It is pointless anyway bc you cannot argue with extremists. You cannot argue with someone intent on stating our bigest problem is liberalism or conservatism. In fairness, I opened the door when I unloaded on the tea party. But I did not intend to discuss much more than the need for gun control.
ReplyDeleteFrom all these remarks, guess we are headed to a civil war.
ReplyDeletePolitical corruption in Allentown seems minor when compared to the number of killings by US police officers when over in the UK, totally different story on handling a similar situation:

Batman would have cast a net over them and Spiderman would have spun his web, everybody safe.
ReplyDeleteThere are over one billion guns in private ownership in America. Do you really think anyone who wants to be re-elected is going to support legitimate gun control measures. I personally own more than thirty guns, am a registered Democrat, a life member of the NRA, and vote accordingly. I love my shooting sports, obey the law, and carry my handgun more than not. If you attack me, be ready to sacrifice your life. I worked very hard for everything I own and will not give in to any mugger, thief, or terrorist. If every American were licensed to carry and stand their ground we wouldn't have half the problems we have today. Don't come into my house to do me or my family harm because you won't walk out.
ReplyDelete"I haven't decided who I will eventually vote for. It's very early"
ReplyDeleteTranslation; I have never voted for a Democrat and I damn well won't start now. Please don't try to hide your partisanship behind a veil of moderation.
Since the quote that begins the message from 'heroic' poster 4:50AM comes from my own post, I'd like to add the following information.
ReplyDeleteI was registered Democrat for many years, voted for countless Democrats. I was asked to be campaign manager by the late Democratic Allentown City Council President Watson Skinner. I contributed funds and assisted the mayoral campaign of Sam Bennett. I am no longer registered Democrat, and now registered as No Party.
All of this can be easily be discovered. You see, I sign my REAL name.
