Allentown is just plan bad news. Its pretty rare when I truely buy in to the whole "conspiricy" mindset but in this case its painfully obvious that corruption has become the theme there. From the police being allowed to operate with impunity to mayor being as corrupt as they come this city has officially seen the worst of the worst. Even the city council seems to be in the corprate pocket by not wanting to kick these bad officials t the curb. I rarely believe that a group has zero redeeming values but here is the exception to that rule. Its time for a house cleaning so to speak. Everyone in the city needs to be fired and the goverment needs to be reconstructed from the ground up.

Whoever decided on the timing for the light at the intersection of 412 and Commerce Center Blvd. is either a moron, never visited the site, or both. It is green for WAY too long for the traffic turning onto 412, leading to even more gridlock on 412.

While I'm on a Penndot rant, 78 could use a third lane between 309 and the state line in each direction, but it will never happen. The least they could do would be a third lane going east approaching Rt. 33 starting at 412. If I had a dollar for every time I was stuck in the left lane behind a truck doing 35mph passing one doing 33mph going up that hill, I'd have enough money to move out of this area.

Watching MS Franz talk to the Northampton County Council during the Personnel Committee meeting address Council about upgrading clerks from a one title to a two title really upsets me. When I worked for the county I had to take a test to be promoted. Why are some workers given upgrades without never having to test for positions w here others in the county struggle hard to pass a test in order to better themselves? Why isn't council questioning this tactic? Just another John Brown way of getting things done. Ms. Franz is taking people that passed a test for Clerk One and letting them skip the test for Clerk Two because she knows the clerks could never pass the test to being with. I hate the politics of it all

I'm not a Charlie Dent fan by any means, but at least he is not completely against women and women's health. On Friday he was one of just three Republicans in the house to vote against the funding freeze for Planned Parenthood. Now if we could just get him the stay completely out of women's health and agree a woman has a right to make her own choices about her body. Sadly this is what a "moderate" Republican looks like today.

So now that it's been decided that Brown's minions will keep their raises through the end of the year (at least), can someone tell me how many other county employees/ unions are still fighting for their fair share? I know the Court-Appointed Professionals are still fighting for a fair contract, and the county keeps pushing back arbitration. How many unions are there in Northampton County? And wouldn't the unions be stronger if they were united?!

**********

Bernie, Drove past Allentown's Recycling Center and saw a 3 tier digital billboard. So gross. Can you look into that digital contract. It went from one person to another and yet another.

**********

We are still waiting for the write up on how much revenue the digital billboards generated for the City in the first year. This deal did not sit well with some on council. Maybe a transfer if funds were part of the agreement of sale. Given the fact that the Morning call became exclusive agent, I suspect hat story will be filed in the archives. Maybe the digital billboards will be on the Christmas lights tour consider lights in the Parkway will not happen this year.

**********

From Jeffrey Anthony on Facebook: I just had a chat with the City Solicitor about Chicago Eddy Pawlowski banning from the Facebook "Allentown: City Without Limits" page anyone who dares to ask a question about the current pay-to-play fiasco. If you've been banned simply for speaking out, maybe give her a call to turn up the heat on Hizzoner a bit...

  1. If you want to solve the HS problem in Northampton County there is only one solution, Jim Gregory. The bronzed wonder is the consummate social service professional and would be an excellent choice to consult on how to handle the inner workings of the 'department. His experience with the state penal system is an added bonus.

  2. So council is OK with letting those 14 keep the money. People already making a good wage. But clerical staff that was issued raises has to give it back? Sounds about right.

  3. Saturday
Today both Coopersburg and Emmaus are hosting family-oriented community days. Inexpensive and fun ways to enjoy a Saturday.

  4. the Call actually advertised these billboards. Bernie if you ever have the time, maybe research this multiple ownership change of hands.

  5. Gregory has plenty of "hands on" experience with the Penal system. He's gotten a close look at about 6" as well. Bring some handy wipes along if you shake his hand when and if he is released.

Gregory is a criminal and living in state prison, exactly where he belongs. Even his lawyer wants nothing to do with him. He's as right for political office as the criminal running in West Easton.

  6. Sparticus will be leading a revolution this spring his sinewy physique burnished through dozens of daily push-ups. This will be a bloodless coup achieved via social media, LTE's, a new blog and air time on the AM dial.

Mezzacappa's prominence within the 9-12 project and Gregory's history with labor makes them more influential that Woodman and his squeeze ever were.

  7. People wonder who 12:49 and 1:03 is. My money is on that gross woman. She is obsessed with those two people. You need to get a life.

  9. Bernie, I contacted an Asst, DA over an issue to attempt to give her support -or ammo on a drug case -- I had to call her back ,as she did failed to respond to my contact ----then she was rude and condescending as she informed me she 'knows all about it ' well this is why people don't help the justice system because ,if somebody will kick me around ,then the average 'citizen' really can't TRUST anybody.

What makes you should a big deal?

  11. Peter, I do not know the situation, but you could have caught her on a bad day. I'm pretty brusque, myself, when on the phone. Except in my case, I mean it.

No Tricia, nobody is wondering. I am 12:49, and I am not the gross woman that you threatened to drown.

How is your campaign for council going? Where is your website? Voters want to know more about the candidate who has criminal charges against her. Prospective employers do too - lol.

Cooler weather is coming - get the vegan cocoa ready for those whory winter nights.

  13. Does anyone know when the "PAT DOWN Pub" will open? Just when we thought it was closed forever, the "FEDERAL GRILLin" opened for business on July 2.

Will the Eagles return for the "Miracle that is Allentown" tour?

  14. Can the hater at 8:56 ever get through one day without hating on Gregory and the Mezzacappa woman. You really need a hobby or a life.

  15. Kudos to Saquon Barkely of Penn State via Whitehall. Nearly 200 yards rushing v. Rutgers last night. A great kid too. He deserves lots of success at PSU.

  16. DEMOCRATIC Palmer Twp. supervisor with Republican signs for JUDGE in her front lawn?

You are the "Mezzacappa woman". Why do you insist on referring to yourself in the third person? Who the hell else would be up at 1AM visiting Bernie's blog and commenting on... yourself? Sleepless in West Easton, or wherever you are renting now?

You need a job, so you'll have a reason to get some sleep. Too bad you screwed up your reputation. Google is very useful.

  18. 11:05, I see no reason why a Democrat cannot support a R for judge. What is the problem or why a Republican cannot support a D? I cannot understand it in Northampton County this year, and i cannot understand it in this year's county judge race. But for state judge, I would put a Giordano sign in my yard myself.

  19. For all the assholes out there in Bernie's poison posse who are mocking Jim Gregory please recognize that all these comments are printed and mailed to him, have a little compassion.

Last week he broke up a fight between a group of Muslims and has been paying for it ever since, being a white educated former cop in the state pen is tough even for a 3rd degree black belt in Tae Kwon Do.

Unity PAC is being revived for the spring primary and there will be big changes towards it's direction namely working on promoting candidates who support and enhance the right to bear arms.

The list of people who need to get right with Gregory is long, his freedom will expedite the healing process.

    1. Unity PAC was NEVER registered and Gregory solicited for AND received monetary donations. He is a THIEF and needs to be charged for this crime!!! He stole money from many people and spent it all!!! Stay in prison you sociopath!!!

  20. Mezzacappa, Gregory is where he needs to be, and your attempted intimidation of his critics is duly noted.

  21. Both Gregiry and Mezzacapoa solicited money for this nonexistent PAC. Are you telling me they actually received money? I'd like s donor list. If this is true, it is theft.

    1. Gregory held an event at the steelworkers union hall that was the so called kick off for UNITY PAC. There were lots of tickets sold and some given away. Gregory's former union SEIU gave money and may have taken it back when they learned PAC was bogus. Most everybody else got stuck and Gregory lived off this until he went to the slammer, where he belongs. As far as a list, Morganelli should be asking the Mensa and his pet witch for all records of this dubious scam and take appropriate action.

  22. Harvey sez,
It is true he is a black belt tae kwon do. He is almost finished with his study to become a Shaman monk with his mastery of Kung Foo.

Both his martial arts training and his Mensa rating have facilitated this advancement.

  23. Leave the poor, young victim Jim Gregory alone. he ha suffered enough. He has found God and is part of a redemption ministry.

  24. Poor and not so young Jim Gregory hasn't begun to suffer enough. When he gets out, he will probably live with the witch from West Easton, maybe then he will start to suffer enough!!

  25. I'd never heard about Jim Gregory before this blog, and I never want to hear about him after. I don't know who he is or what he stands for but it sounds like he has a cult-following to me...And I'm certainly weary of that! I surmise that he must be a pycho, just like this Mezzacao woman is.

  26. Am also very curious about Atiyeh's Billboards. The business was operating for a little less than 2 years. Atiyeh purchased a house in Easton just to gain standing so he could sue Adams. Less than a year later, he sells the ENTIRE business to Adams, presumably for a profit. Something is afoul here. I know that MCall and Atiyeh joined forces. MCall benefited by having the ability to sell billboard advertising the the LV. Atiyeh benefited becasue as part of the deal he didn't pay anything for the full page ads he has in the paper every week for Manor Care. This whole thing definitely needs to be investigated further. I have some inside info but no way to utilize it.
