I've Become So Popular, Except on Bangor School Board

Everywhere I go these days, I see "I like Bernie" bumper stickers.According to Rich Fegley, over 100 artists and musicians have endorsed me, too, including Will Ferrell. So I got that going for me.

I always thought that bottom-feeding bloggers like myself were generally regarded somewhere between an ISIS terrorist and a used car salesman. But I must have my fans.

Apparently, they're not so happy with me in Bangor or Roseto or wherever the hell School Board President Michael Goffredo lives. He's blowin' oil over my report concerning a state audit that took the Board to task for paying a former Superintendent $142,000 for "consulting" services she never performed.

They paid her off.

That was something I thought the public should know, and it only took The Express Times about four days to pick up on it.

Instead of focusing on the findings in the audit, which included a breach of the Board's fiduciary duty to the public, Goffredo wants to know who the bastard is who leaked it to me. He also apparently had some choice words about me, so I've asked for a copy of his email.

  1. I'm sure he knows your pipeline is Ron Angle.

  2. If the Board wanted her to leave and there was an agreement why not call it severance pay couple it with a separation agreement and approve it in public? Why the secrecy?

    ReplyDelete
  3. Why the secrecy? Oh boy..you do not know why they wanted her gone..do you? Worst kept secret in the Slate Belt and Ron knows why they pushed her out the door. She was dispatched for something other than her job performance and that is why the pay off scenario arose. This is not news folks. The audit is factual but we are a long way down the road from her and her removal. Move on..nothing to see here.

  5. Mike Goffredo is the same guy who defended Spry's outrageous legal bills.

  6. Mike Goffredo should worry more about paying his taxes rather then bernie o'hare's sources. He owes 32k in back taxes on his personal residence- which is scheduled to be sold tomorrow. A great example to be set by the school board president.

  7. $32k on a $956k loan is a drop in the bucket. He's not going anywhere.

  8. Goffredo should just resign and then Ron Angle can take his place and preside over the entire board! Now I get it!

  9. Pam Colten, Board President KNEW ALL THIS and obviously lied as to her departure! The gig is up Pam! Everyone knows you left because this scandal was gonna come out and you were the "leader" and head of this PACK OF WOLVES that sat there while the School lawyer Spry collected his overbilled amount every month and YOU and the rest said and did nothing about it !!! Your queendom has fallen!
Who was represented by the Spry law firm? Lets see?? Geofredo? Cameron? Berger? Bussenger?
My the web you all have weaved out there huh? How about that job funded by the School District that sissy has thru Northampton Community College and you Mrs. Colten sit representing the Bangor School Board on NACC's Board of trustee's protecting sissies job maybe?
Waiting to hear more about the "communities grant" for 100K plus as your new job??? Already smells!

  10. 10:28, You apparently don't get it. Angle defended Goffredo in the ET story. He will be on the Board for just three months. He has no interest in the presidency.

  11. The one who stood up for the taxpayers during "Spry-gate" was Bob Cartwright. Bernie, if you dig deeper into this board, you'll be shocked.

    ReplyDelete
  12. Bob Cartwright did stand up for the taxpayers. But he needs to take it easy.

    ReplyDelete
  13. Why dig when Angle supplies the information required for public consumption. We don't need a journalistic rehash anyway..we need new people on this school board! Bangor now one of the worst schools in the state. Don't need Bernie to draw a picture..do ya?

  14. This web-powered citizen-journalist thing is working out well for America, and you're one of the best practitioners, Bernie. Who else would have run something like that Bangor pay-off to ground like you did -- to say nothing of your pioneering, decade-long reporting on the Chicago Eddy Pawlowski gang. (Every day I read "Lehigh Valley Raamblings" hoping you break more news on my pet hobbyhorse "Latinos for a New Lehigh Valley")

Ben Franklin would be proud of you, sir.

  15. Big Bob needs to take it easy right now. Don't throw stones at a guy who is hurting.

  16. 12:27, as I already explained, Angle found out about the audit from me. He is not my source. Bob Cartwright is in a Delaware hospital. He is not my source. I have contacts in many places. Instead of focusing on how I got my information, you should be s little more concerned about what the report says.

  17. well said Bernie- They hate the messenger because they don't like the message!

  18. Bernie, what do you know about bonuses being paid to BASD Administrators if they spend under "X" amount of dollars? I know they just cut the pay of their substitute teachers.

    ReplyDelete
  19. We already knew the message and this whole story. It is old news to all knowing people in the BASD area. This board needs to be replaced..almost entirely replaced. They have failed the people of this district. They need to go! Vote them out and give some new people a chance to improve our local education system. Enough already!

  20. 639am and 1035am, please enlighten us. Why was she "pushed out the door" and why did Colton agree to cover it up? All allegedly of course.

    Thank you.

  21. It's really gonna piss off Goddfredo that the report is now up on the auditors site for all to see.

  22. Pam Colton is now in the private sector, so I am not going to tolerate anonymous abuse heaped on her for what is a volunteer position. Let me address some of the false accusations. After that, I will not be permitting any more anonymous shots at anyone individual.

Pan's sister was hired as the community school director by the United Way eight years ago. The United Way is the funder and they give the money to NCC as the lead partner, so she is an NCC employee. Pam was not on the NCC board at the time. She got that job six years before Pam was named to the NCC board by the Bangor board (because nobody else wanted to do it when Bruce Cameron stepped down

There is a "Communities That Care" grant that Valley Youth House received for the Slate Belt Community Mobilizer position. This position existed many years ago and then the funding was cut, but the group stayed together. Valley Youth House applied for and received the grant again and selected someone for the position, but after accepting it initially, she had to decline for personal reasons. So in the beginning of August, Psm was asked by Valley Youth House to take on this PART-TIME, $25,000 job (not $100,000). She already has a full-time editing job.

Any more anonymous personal attacks directed at anyone will be deleted.

  24. BOH, I could careless who they are , what party they come from or who supports them. Keep exposing those who believe it is fine and dandy to steal tax payer cash , do with it, what they please and never hope it sees the light of day.

I am so sick of govt corruption from both pathetic parties and this is a great vehicle to expose this corruption.

Keep up the good work. I am positive you and I agree on little politically, but this is not a political issue . This is a criminal issue and I am all for nailing them (both parties)to the wall when found guilty of crimes like this.

I agree! Nail them Bernie! But lets not start jerking each other off yet,
it's not like the money has been return.

I read on this blog how D.A. Morganelli got $107,800 in assets from drug dealers and people want him to spend time getting their gold teeth. Whether you think that's good or bad perhaps we need to review priorities at the D.A.'s office. I mean come on, we have white collar criminals robbing us blind.

$142,000 walks away and some low rent blogger finds it? Someone needs to get that money back, get THEIR car and THEIR house, and if possible knock THEIR teeth out.

BUT, I'm willing to wager she'll get away with every cent. We'll see.

    ReplyDelete
  26. I cannot allow any comment that even hints at physical violence.

    ReplyDelete
  27. Gold teeth would have to be physically removed, but I'm not brutal or violent, novacaine is acceptable to use.

  28. Where Angle goes controversy follows.

    ReplyDelete
  29. The Bangor Area School Board Members that voted for it should pay it back along with that screw ball overbilling Solicitor Spry.
How in the world did they think paying her $142K was OKAY in the taxpayers dime? This is stupid is, is stupid does, I hope that someone makes the Board and lawyer pay us taxpayers back.

I agree with your sentiments, however, leaving the impression these people are stupid is wrong, the are not.

They are in most cases very well educated and highly intelligent criminals, they calculate every move so as to commit their crimes while obfuscating the laws. And when they are exposed NOTHING happens to them.

They really are our most dangerous criminals because the premeditated violence they do goes unseen and collectively they run the whole show.

If they sold a single untaxed cigarette, or failed to signal a lane change, law enforcement would be all over that....stay tuned and just watch them walk away.
