Easton Jobs Initiative to Launch This Saturday

A group calling itself The Easton Jobs Initiative will launch this Saturday at the circle in a rally that will include hot dogs, soda, water, snacks, music and face painting for the kids. There will be speeches, too. Lots of them. Easton Mayor Sal Panto, Business Matters' Tony Iannelli, Shiloh Church pastor Phil Bavis and LV Building Trades President Jim Reilley will provide the hot air.

The aim is to create a website that unites job seekers and employers.

I thought that was CareerLink. Even Craigslist. But according to the news release, this one is apparently just for city residents.

Let me get this straight. Nonresidents are already paying a commuter tax. So now is he going to steal their jobs, too?

I hope the "hundreds" of residents who are projected to attend make sure they plug the meter.

  7. I don't see how he can restrict people from attending or approaching employers. Is someone going to ask for ID?
Seems like nothing more than Sal politicking for the locals.

  8. Just stay away from the "West" ward. Folks there are trigger happy.

  9. Between the school system and traditional city voting habits, an employer would be an idiot to hire anyone from Easton, unless you're creating a football team or mob of drug dealers.

  10. This event will raise the most parking ticket money in parking ticket history in Easton. They will plant the seed (Hot Dogs) a few hundred and rake in thousands.

  11. Don't forget if you get a parking ticket, but are part of Easton's elite, your ticket will be forgiven. Anyone else.... Don't even think about it... No chance for you!
