Thiel to Seek Seat on Allentown School Board
Charlie was appointed to the Allentown School Board to fill the unexpired term of Julie Ambrose in October 2013, where he is co-chair of the Technology Committee and serves on the Land Use & Zoning Committee.
“Allentown is becoming a better place to live and work every day, but we can, and must, do a better job of educating our students. My aim as a board member is to restore the public’s pride and confidence that the school district can effectively and efficiently do its job to educate our city’s youth,” Thiel said.
Currently the president of the Allentown Chamber of Commerce, Charlie’s extensive community involvement also includes membership on the boards of the Allentown School District Foundation, the Allentown Community Development Advisory Board, the Allentown Blighted Property Review Board and the Allentown Disruptive Conduct Board of Appeals. He also serves on the Joint Operating Committee of the Lehigh Career & Technical Institute.
He is general manager of the Security Group for Communications Systems Inc. in Allentown, where he has worked for the past 15 years. In that capacity, Charlie has overseen the implementation of security surveillance camera system, which helps police maintain watch over streets throughout the city.
Charlie and Annette have raised two children, Alexis, a junior at Moravian College, and Andrew, a sophomore at Shippensburg University. Both were products of the Allentown School District.
Blogger's Note: I had several questions for Thiel regarding J.B. Reilly's assessment appealinside the NIZ. I'm curious whether he opposes a reduction in that assessment, and want to know why the school's solicitor was a no-show at the assessment hearing. If he responds, I'll let you know.

Now you're putting Mr. Thiel to his own test (testing is huge right now).
ReplyDeleteI'd like to use this public forum to ask Mr. Thiel if he considers significantly increasing class size to have been a detriment to student performance in his school district.

I don't know Mr. Thiel, and maybe he is a good guy, but to be appointed to that may boards and commissions in today's Allentown can mean only one thing; this guy has to be a Pawlowski yes man. In fact, I'll bet he receives support from the new Pawlowski PAC, intended to turn the independent ASD Board into a rubber stamping element of the Pawlowski Political Machine.
ReplyDeleteI'm tited of hearing Thiel is a good guy. As ling as I've known him he is on the wrong side of every issue I don't think he gives a shit about anything buty his own business interests. He is very much a part of the urban growth regime.
ReplyDelete"NUZ"?
ReplyDeleteThiel is part of the Mayor's shadow Christian
ReplyDeletegovernment.
Hard to believe, yes, but ask around.
I believe it. It's a Christian government with lots of dollar signs.
ReplyDeleteWhat is Mr. Thiel's companies relationship with the City of Allentown.
ReplyDeleteHas he firm profited from City or ASD
contracts?
--his firm---
ReplyDeleteAnother YES man.
ReplyDeleteCharles Thiel wants to be the next mayor.
ReplyDeleteYou can take that to the bank.
He's got Mayor P's blessings. That's what all this is about. Their "Christian" base falls right in line, so does the NIZ Gang.
The fix is in.
Charlie "the snake" Thiel failed so badly as a top executive with his on the virgue of bankrup company CSI before the partners demoted him. Only reason he was kept on the payroll was due to his political friends like King Edwin and Schlossberg. Once Republican now Democrat Thiel some how gets exclusive contrats for CSI by way of his political connections. Funny how CSI always lands uncontested city contracts. I'm surprised Thiel wasn't mentioned in the FBI grand jury indictment.
ReplyDeleteThiel's company gets exclusive city and school district contacts, its some shady business. FBI should check that out too!
