  1. The article does not mention if he is qualified to hold the office. Only says that he is related to the previous office holder. Since he's not a lawyer it would be nice to know if he took the class and passed the test required to hold this position.

  2. Dave is a good man, his experience is worth more than any law degree.

  3. He may be a good man, but a non-lawyer can only hold the office after becoming qualified by taking a 4-week course and passing the examination.

Has he taken and passed the course? Is he planning on it?

  4. Something is off here. His linkedin profile does not match up to the story he is telling in this article. Seems like his mainexperience is in logistics. https://www.linkedin.com/pub/dave-repnyek/26/726/348

  5. I applied for the 1-26 June course in Harrisburg. Lawyers may know the law but I am more experienced in the Criminal Justice System. District Magistrate is part of the Criminal Justice System. Thank you.

  6. David, Your linkedin profile lists no experience in the criminal justice field. When did you get this "experience"? For the last 25 years you have been steadily employed in the supply chain logistics field, according to linkedin.
And only a portion of what an MDJ does is criminal.

    1. You obviously did not do your research or do not have access to the entire file. My experience as a P.O. is in there and I do possess more experience with warrants and bail conditions than Mr. Tidd in both number of years and cases. MOST of what a Magistrate does is Criminal to include arraignments, summary offenses, and vehicle code violations. I was a P.O. in Lehigh County from Feb 1991 to Aug 2000 when I decided to go on active duty with the National Guard. As a former landlord I am very familiar with Landlord Tenet issues. Thank you.

  7. Thanks. So it's clear to me that when we vote in May he's not yet qualified to hold the office.

  8. Let me add a very important point that your readers shouldn't overlook ... juveniles only appear in District Court for summary offenses. All juvenile misdemeanors and felonies go straight to the County Juvenile Court Division. So what does this guy bring to the table? Oh yeah, he is somehow related to the former District Judge. That's a real good reason to try to unseat a presiding judge. Oh, and you shouldn't need a law degree to figure out that my last sentence was sarcasm

    1. Maybe the current judge should concentrate more on his earned law degree and his private practice that he was to close.

  9. I really hope David realizes there is much more to this job then criminal, in fact the majority of your people and cases before you are traffic related (how much experience there?) and Civil (How much there?). It's great that he has a handle on the Juvy side of things..guess what he probably didn't know? The MDJ is POWERLESS over juvenile cases...most sit in filing cabinets because they either can't be send to Juvy or he has no power to impose anything more then a fine which they can't pay. Then again you have a TON of civil and landlord tenant cases...Good luck as he is gonna need way more then a good last name and experience as a probation officer. He should at the very minimum if he was serious about this job taken the required MDJ course last year and then run this year. I wish him luck.

  10. The person that's making all these comments seems very qualified or a hired hand.

  11. Pardon me, did I spell a candidate's name wrong? I sometime get names wrong, and if I do here, please let me know so I can correct.

  12. So when you are asked for a 3111 you got that right?

  13. OK, folks, let's not demean someone anonymously over a typo. I've been guilty of more than a few. What we know is the following:
    - two candidates are lawyers and are automatically qualified for the office;
    - the nonlawyer running (and nonlawyers bring common sense that we people with law degrees sometimes lack) is scheduled to take the necessary course in June.

Nobody is going to win this race by posting comments on this blog, knocking each other down. You'll win this race by knocking on Hellertown and Lower Saucon Tp doors.

I don't know why, but contested MDJ races are always nasty.

  14. I hear that a local cop and one of the losing candidates from the 2009 election have both been circulating petitions.

  17. I think we should look at the last few years that Dave was in office... He brought the court into compliance with all regulations, He has been honest in his decisions, and even those who did not like him "as an attorney" have said that he did a great job as District Magistrate! The saying goes, If it ain't broke, Don't fix it! Dave has done a great job for the last few years, Has all the knowledge of an attorney, and 5 years experience of a District Judge. He has not had to run a negative camping, and seems to be the most qualified person to be in this office.

  18. Something is off if you need to spend $60/vote
