A Blog For the NorCo Jail?

Ken Kraft chairs Northampton County Council's busy Personnel Committee. He also acts as their liaison at the jail. He's pretty unhappy about the games being played there, both with the understaffing as well as the favoritism being shown to a corrections officer who happens to be Cathy Allen's snitch,.As I told you last week, Allen made sure that a lieutenant got suspended without pay for writing up a corrections officer who showed up for work out-of-uniform and who ignored him.

"They fire the guy who wrote her up. and put her back and reinstate her again, " he complained, while Peg Ferraro tried to change the subject. Having none of it, Kraft stated "[t]here's things going on in this County that need to be known, and need to be brought to the surface, and they need to be addressed.

That might happen. Someone is working on a blog to "discuss issues related to the Northampton County Jail. We welcome your input, and would like to address current and past problems inside the walls of the prison. We will address union issues, employee concerns and inmate complaints."

It might be a flash in the pan.

Or it might be the real deal.

Time will tell.

  1. Yeah - Peg really needs to work on knowing when to say "let's move along" and when it is totally inappropriate. They should have kicked her out of that seat and made someone like Geissinger prez. She's horrible in that role.

  2. This would be an excellent situation for John Brown to get the help of Jim Gregory. Mr. Gregory knows modern social media. He has been writing about his experiences with the penal system. When he returns he could work for Brown or the county council as a special liaison or consultant to the county jail. His insights would help ensure things are handled the right way.

It should at least be considered as a possible plan.

  3. Ms. Ferraro, should take her own advice and MOVE ON! She has more than once dismissed legitimate concerns voiced by other council members and Mr. Barron regarding employee records.

  4. Peg Ferraro is and has been a joke in county government. Why employees and citizens keep falling for her smiling bs is a mystery. She is all sweet talk but has always put her Party first. She is anti-employee, anti-union, pro taxes and a lap dog for Brown.

How and why do people support this person.

  5. 4:51 AM She also sees that her daughter gets a $20,000.00 raise before County employees have her raises frozen and health care handicapped. Isn't that considered insider information???? Shouldn't she be fired!

That is UNBELIEVABLE and I am a Republican! Allen sounds more like a control happy micromanaging Liberal. Working in the Jail is all about discipline and routine. Without either... CO's can be seriously hurt or killed by the inmates. Things as little as maintaining policies like reporting on time in uniform go toward discipline and routine. Keep ALLEN out of the JAIL!! Let the professionals run the Jail, not POLITICAL HACKS!

  8. To find out what's REALLY going on, ask a senior officer.

  9. Ms. allen thinks part of her duty is to stick her nose into places it shouldnt be. She's a joke.

  10. Someone is going to be hurt over in the jail, and Miss Allen should bear the entire costs of the lawsuit from her meddling. Command structure is not to be undermined in a public fashion like she did. And it will lead to a problem

  12. will JG be a guest blogger on the new NCP site? His days as Eric WeiSzc were the stuff of legend, blogging from the Becthel building while his higher ups doggedly chased him and Harvey looking for any reason to can him.

We can all thank Jim for having the courage to be of service while serving a sentence cooked up in Judge Ziti's Kangaroo court and delivered by Donchezes henchmen

Righteous anger will reshape the NorCo landscape

  13. Gregory denied repeatedly that he was the author of that blog, and threatened me with libel for suggesting it was he. I was later told the author was Ron Shegda.

For the gazillionth time, let me state that it is counterproductive to snipe at another employee whose abilities are recognized by both the Exec and Council. the employee in question is a valuable asset, worth far more than Cathy Allen and has saved the county money far in excess of what she is paid. instead of slamming her, you should ask the Exec to reward everyone who makes this kind of contribution.

He's been "writing"? More like hallucinating, which is what you were doing at 3AM. He can be a consultant to the jail by having a cell there. Then he can complain about his dirty sheets and pillowcases, and being able to get bacon and country pork ribs at meals.

To suggest that your idea should be "part of the plan" says volumes about Brown's administration.

  22. You can say it a gazillion times but it does not make it true. What money did either of the fiscal staff who received the kind of increases that no other workers IN COUNTY HISTORY ever had? You must be privy to things the rest of us dont know about. Those of us who have been around for years know the real story of just what at least one of these choosen few do and it is really not that spectacular.

  23. I see that everyone keeps saying that the 'snitch' got the LT fired. I say he got himself fired. If that LT decides he doesn't like someone he will persecute them merciously. A dozen other officers can be doing the exact same thing as the 'snitch' and not a word gets said but the lady 'snitch' gets written up and suspended. Also if you happen to be one of the LT's cronies you can come to work drunk and sleep the first half of the shift away while the rest of the officers have to do the drunks work. That technically leaves them short multiple officers while those officers are sleeping off their hangovers.
