C3 Brags to Other Counties on Health Care Cost Savings in NorCo

Cost control consultant C3, which signed a confidentiality agreement with Northampton County, is nonetheless tooting its horn in emails to other counties. It has actively solicited business in Lehigh County, and in a letter to the County Commissioners Association of Pa (CCAP), has made this claim concerning the health care reductions imposed by Executive John Brown.

Principal Christopher L. Rothwell brags that "our group health benefits division was recently engaged to help Northampton County comply with the ACA and control health benefits costs. The results are a health benefits solution that meets the needs of employees, complies with the ACA and the Cadillac Tax, and most notably, another seven-figure savings to the County."

In the meantime, the County has refused to release any of its own email exchanges with C3, under which the supposed savings could be examined.

  2. This is extremely interesting considering that the idiot C3 guy who was at the Gracedale meetings told us and I quote "there is no such thing as a cadillac tax- it does not exist". As far as helping the county come to a solution? They advised the county to drop the insurance coverage levels to the lowest amount of coverage with the highest amount of out of pocket allowed by ACA. It doesn't take an expert consultant and a pricey illegal contract to figure that out. Council is being duped if they think Brown's interests in this so called Gap insurance are for the benefit of the employee. He lied to them about how it worked and what it will cover and then he signed an illegal contract with the provider. Now he is going to also force them to make the decision to raise taxes so that he can say it wasn't his doing and he kept his promise. This is outrageous!!!

  3. Consulting fees are better of spent on health insurance. Yep, here is an example of the GOP telling folks who like their health insurance, that they can't keep it. We all remember the election rhetoric about healthcare. The GOP double speak is abundantly clear.

  4. C3 is a bunch of amateurs pandering for business based on false pretenses. Their work for Norco should be scrutinized. Hope you get the records Bernie.

  5. I agree with 12:34. Any dummy could figure out that if you make the employees pay high deductables and coinsurance intened to deter usage you are gonna save money. Please you need someone to tell you that. Did he also tell them that workers are leaving in droves and those left are trying to find other employment. What a jackass!

  6. "The results are a health benefits solution that meets the needs of employees..."

You'd be hard-pressed to find even 1 employee whose needs are being met by the "solution" this company has come up with. I'm confident that other counties' administrations won't be fooled.

  9. Bernie , I say this outfit is working out of a broom closet. I will gladly photograph the front door .OR photograph the players in my spare time . They have a lot of balls to project savings at NORCO this early. This means to me they are not upfront and this VENDOR is a wash of new lights ,a once and done ,over with ! --the way it's looks to me.
