Ungerer and Company, a fragrance company located at 110 N. Commerce Boulevard in Hanover Township, came out smelling like a rose. Hanover Township Supervisors, at their September 9 meeting, agreed by a 3-0 vote to allow a 27,000 sq ft expansion to the 60,000 sq ft facility. Liberty Engineering's Paul A. Szewczak told the Board this expansion will make the facility safer and more efficient, but will result in no new jobs. "Everything's jammed in," he explained.
Construction will commence as soon as permits are obtained, stated Szewczak. The facility is a combination of warehousing and manufacturing.
In 1999, the sweet smell of Ungerer's success was detected as far away as Bethlehem's Main Street. The company installed a charcoal filtering system, and now odors are "very rare", according to Manager Jay Finnigan.
In other business, Supervisors rejected improvements by neighborhood medical center Patient First at 2310 Schoenersville Rd. The irgent care facility's 18-moth maintenance period will be delayed until the plan improvements approved are actually in place.
In addition to landscaping issues, Finnigan complained that two street lights required by the approved plan have yet to go in. They could have done that day one, but they didn't," he remarked.
Chairman John Diacogiannis, Supervisor Stephen Salvesen and Public Works Director Vincent Milite were absent.
