LWV State Senate Debate on May 8

On May 8, 2014, the League of Women Voters of Northampton County and the Gracedale Nursing Home are partnering to present a Candidates’ Forum for the Democratic 40th Senatorial District Primary Race. It's scheduled for 7 pm at the Gracedale Chapel.

The three candidates in contention are Attorney Mark Aurand, Bangor Mayor Joe Capozzolo and Northampton County Council member Scott Parsons.

This is the only debate for this race this election season at this time. It is a new Senate seat based on the 2010 PA Census and includes most of Monroe County and the northern portion of Northampton County.

What bothers me is that the debate is scheduled to coincide with a meeting of Northampton County Council.

  1. Should be good for some laughs. Barney Rubble will need two chairs, and bud on tap.

  2. If you are debating which one to go to, County Council is recorded on video, while the debate is not.

  3. Is Parsons going to show up? The reason there is only one debate is because Mike Fleck doesn't want Scott to look bad, again. At a january Monroe county meeting, Parsons did an awful job. When asked about same sex marriage he said "the gays". The whole room gasped. Not ready for prime time.

  4. Parsons may not be ready for prime time, but Capozzolo is a joke

  5. Doesn't County Council meet May 1st and 15th?

  6. Joe Cap will win this debate. Who will come in second? Aurand can't speak without notes. Always has a yellow notepad in hand. Nothing from the heart. Parsons is well, Parsons. He's good if he stays on script, but falters at off- the-cuff. Can't wait to watch!

  7. I'm sure you'll have a front row seat bc you obviously are Joe Cap. You really are a snake. God help Bangor.

  8. Joe Cap couldn't win a race if only he was in it! Give me a break. One vote Joe..what a claim to fame.

  9. Joe was the logical choice for Bangor's mayor. The other two just horrible in comparison. My advice to you Joe is this..be the Mayor and forget about higher office. Do what you do best..marry people and do the parades.

  12. 1:58, you seem to have the same affliction. Are you Scott?
